I called ahead to see if I could walk in around 6pm on a weekday for symptoms of strep throat/sore…read morethroat. I was informed I didn't so I quickly made my way over. The young lady on the phone was pleasant and friendly. However, when I got there, there were two young ladies at the desk who looked at me like I had 10 heads. Neither one welcomed me or said a word to me until I said something first. They both seemed so bothered. Overall the front desk staff was not friendly nor were they clear with their directions. The waiting area was clean and tidy. Seemed like I was the only one there. I didn't wait for long. I filled out the form and waited maybe 5 minutes and the MA, I believe her name was Maddison? Starts with an M. She was super friendly and easy going. She definitely knows the area well. I recently moved to the area and didn't have a pharmacy in mind. She quickly asked where I moved to and immediately suggested a cvs pharmacy I am familiar with 5 minutes from me. Shortly after she took my rapid strep test, the provider was in in less than 10 minutes. Dr. Paul Paganelli-- he was amazing! He listened to all my concerns and was super personal. He prescribed me antibiotics and I was on my way!! He made sure to walk me out and quickly sent the orders to my pharmacy. On my way to pharmacy, I received a text saying my prescription was ready for pick up! Amazing back end staff who truly cares.

While I understand that the quality of health care has steadily declined in the United States in my…read morelifetime and I have adjusted my expectations accordingly, I have now had several experiences at this particular Health Express in Kingston that needs to be addressed: 1. Office staff (one woman in particular) are clearly unhappy with their jobs. If you don't want to (or don't like) working with the public (especially when you are seeing patients who are ill, stressed, in pain etc) you should find other employment. Being told that you cannot help because the office is "closing in 20 minutes" (when that guidance isn't posted in your facility or website or social media) is just poor management. The inability to demonstrate ANY basic human compassion to a parent when there are children (in pain) involved is a clear indicator that front desk staff needs training. Processing insurance, waiting for a debit card to go through, etc should come second to treating a child first and foremost. Do better. 2. Having multiple signs posted about patients tone, attitudes, voice volume and other behavioral guidelines around your check-in desk is condescending, elevates tension from the first moment of interaction and doesn't actually fix any internal issues. Spend some time training your front desk representative in understanding that medical intake means that people will be in pain, disoriented, frightened or anxious. This means that the person doing the check in (whose main concern seems to be insurance and payment) should also be prepared to be more patient and understanding. YOU set the tone- again, do better. Seeing multiple signs posted about patient behavior around the desk actually a MAJOR red flag to patients that staff is untrained/ill-equipped to handle the diverse needs of patients seeking medical attention. 3. Our nurse spoke too quickly about treatment which made me ask her to repeat herself several times, and then I needed to write it down and have her confirm I understood dosages of medication and next steps. This was very basic and she was clearly irritated and unwilling to fully help. Because it was almost "closing time"? Again, taking frustration out on patients is unnecessary. My expectations were low, but even this was shocking. I avoid these places as much as possible as a general rule, as the alternative is the ER ($$$), but this one is especially nasty. Avoid if you can- especially as a parent or older person.

I waiting almost an hour inside the room waiting with a mask on and I already can't breathe. finally they show up and test me for COVID and flu? what about rsv or bronchitis nope. The xr ray tech was the biggest B word I have met. Im having trouble breathing and she yells at me cause I walked past the room or when she told me to turn and I did she got mad cause she wanted me to turn the other way. Finally get back to my room wait another 30 minutes just for doctor matt to walk in and tell me i have no idea whats going on but here's prednisone. My inhaler are not working Im still having trouble breathing and now I am left with going to the emergency room. Never ever ever go here

THIS WAS THE WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD…read more At approximately 12:30 PM, I was brought into a treatment room. About 5-10 minutes later, a medical assistant took my blood pressure, oxygen level, and tested me for flu, COVID, and RSV. She then left to run the rapid tests and told me someone would be in shortly. Instead, I sat alone in the exam room for over 30 minutes with absolutely no communication from anyone. No update. No explanation. No acknowledgment whatsoever. Finally, I opened the door and asked if anyone was actually going to see me. The nurse practitioner responded dismissively that patients are seen in the order they arrive. I pointed out that the patient across the hall had clearly arrived 15-20 minutes after I did and was already being treated. Rather than checking the facts or even attempting to address my concern, she immediately told me I was wrong. At that point, I left without ever being treated. What makes this experience even more unacceptable is that nobody made the slightest effort to apologize, explain the delay, or show any concern for the way I had been treated. Instead, your report labeled me as "acutely agitated," which is both insulting and completely misleading. Any patient who is ignored, dismissed, and spoken to disrespectfully after waiting alone in an exam room would understandably be frustrated. The issue was not simply the wait time. The issue was the complete lack of professionalism, communication, accountability, and basic respect for a patient. I expect far better from a medical facility.
