i used to go here before covid, and the dentist i had was very nice & understanding. and i recently had a broken tooth so i called to make an appointment, and when i called i asked if they still did laughign gas and how much it was out of pocket, c ause i need it for them to safely even clean my teeth cause high level anixety and on the specturm. they got me in a few months after i called and thats where the issues started. i get there and theyre confused why im asking to confirm if i pay now or later for the laughign gas and then im told i have a new dentist cause my old one retired and the new dentist was very condesending, she talked to me as if i was being inconvient for insisting i need laughing gas even for a cleaning. she told me 'we dont like to use laughing gas on adults'. her tone and over all attitude felt ablest, and i dont like using that word lightly. i explained its in my chart, which even she said she saw it in there, and it was because of high anixety, sensivity on the teeth and that im on the spectrum. the more she talked to me the worse i felt. i felt so disrepsected and not very welcome. so it was not a good experiance. she then insisted we 'try' to do the cleaning without it, and i gave in and three seconds in my tooth felt like what nails on a chalk board sounds like and we had to stop. then she basically tried to explain that i should look into one of these other dentist practices that do full sedation denisty to "not traumatize me" more, but honestly the way i was treated was more traumatizing. cause i've had issues with dentsits as a child, and when i first found bourne dental assosiates in my early 20s, i was relieved originally cause i was treated with respect and had no issues. so to go back there after 4-5 years and be treated like i was an inconvienance because i needed laughing gas, for my anixety & disablity. i can say i was relieved to find a different dentist company, so i don't have to return to this practice. i left the building feeling so anxious and humiliated that my hands were shaking. read more

During my initial visit the staff was very kind and seemingly understanding. I have been a long time patient at Bourne Dental and was sad to learn of my Doctor leaving but was willing to try with Dr. Nguyen. I can't even begin to explain the horrible interaction I had with him on my visit for a cleaning. He and his staff tried to physically stop me from leaving the building claiming that I was unfit to drive although what I was doing to give them this impression is beyond me. This extrem hyper aggressive behavior shocked and mortified me. It continued until I was finally able to exit the building. I will never go back. THIS WAS A CLEANING! I'm horrified and still very upset. I've consulted other people in this field, a dentist friend.out of state.and dental hygienist. Under noncircumstance have they ever heard of such bizarre behavior. I am new to the area and was looking for a new dentist. I called for an appointment for a cleaning. It took 2.5 months to get appointment. I was scheduled for Monday April 17 which was Patriots' Day. I usually get my teeth cleaned every three months and I was glad I was finally getting a cleaning. I arrived at 9 and there was nobody behind the desk. I waited for someone (who was on a phone call) to finally ask me my name. She was not a front desk person. She told me I needed to fill out all the new patient and insurance forms online. I explained that I had already done that and that it was very time consuming so I would appreciate it if she could figure out where the information was! She didn't say anything else. The hygienist came to get me and she told me I needed a set of X-rays. Fine. Then she proceeded to check my gum recession. Ok. The X-rays and gum check took about 35 mins. She then informed me that I had to wait for a dentist to come and check my mouth. I am annoyed because the music was loud and she was singing along and dancing too. Very distracting and unprofessional. Here's the kicker. She tells me that she has run out of time and won't be able to clean my teeth. WHAT The HeCK!! Are you serious? I said that I had waited over two months for a CLEANING appointment. I was furious. I got up and told her I was calling my insurance company to prevent them from submitting a claim. What a nightmare. Find someplace else. I'll be driving to my old dentist. I don't care how far. I thought I was on candid camera. She was so unprofessional. She also acted like it was me who was wrong!! Lol. Yeah. Due to turnover at my previous dentist's office, I recently had occasion to change practices. I am a dentist myself. Bourne Dental and Dr. Gibbs came highly recommended by someone with whom I had previously worked. Having had two appointments now with Dr. Gibbs, I am delighted that I followed up on the recommendation. Dr. Gibbs has excellent credentials and experience. Her staff are also first rate, particularly her dental assistant (Pascale). But what really sets her apart from my perspective are her communication skills (including listening!) with patients and her technical prowess. I had no issues whatsoever with her administration of anesthesia or the procedures she performed on my teeth. Flawless! Beyond this, there were no efforts to upsell services. She just developed a straightforward and sound treatment plan. The dental hygienist I saw on one of my visits (Fran) also was first rate. My husband saw her as well and reported that his teeth have never been cleaner. Even if you have to wait as a new patient to see Dr. Gibbs, the wait is worth it. read more

I almost don't want to write this, because Dr. Glavin is hands down the best dentist around, and I want to selfishly keep him available for me and my family, lol! His willingness to learn more about my rare autoimmune disease (which affects my teeth and gums) was critical for treatment, and he has gone above and beyond to work with sensitivity to my particular needs. Not only is he extremely competant and knowledgable in his field, he actually listens to you and any concerns or input that you have. Who does that anymore? I have struggled with keeping up my dental appointments for almost ten years now due to extreme anxiety and panic attacks developed after having an awful experience at an oral surgeon. I discovered bourne dental for my young daughter and was so highly impressed with their pediatric care and compassion that I decided to give it a shot for myself. Upon first meeting Dr.Gibbs I explained to her that my anxiety surrounding dental work is so intense that even routine cleanings send me into a whirlwind of emotion. Dr. Gibbs took her time and allowed me to stop at any point to gather myself during my first cleaning, there was no feeling of guilt or embarrassed for how nervous I was. So much compassion and understanding was shown to me that it felt las if I was visiting a friend every time I have had an appointment. I have had almost ten restorative appointments in the last year alone after finding a dentist who truly takes the patients needs into consideration rather than assuming they're exaggerated. I was a patient for 10 years but recently left for multiple reasons. 1st, in the ten years I had been there, I think I may have had 5 or six different hygienists, not really enough time to develop a good relationship. 2nd, Dr. Glavin was good, but I always got the impression he wanted to maximize his profits from my insurance. He's gone now, and I have only met his replacement once. The last straw was when they told me twice (once the day before a procedure) that my copay would be about $300 , but after the procedure they slapped me with a bill closer to $1100 !! I argued to no avail with the office manager that they should honor their original estimate, but she insisted there was no mistake, and that I owed the money. Imagine my surprise, when I received my insurance statement 2 week later stating that my co-pay should have been only $317 ! It took over two months and multiple calls from my insurance company and me before I finally received reimbursement. Never once did the office manager call to apologize, or even offer an explanation. Alan, one of the hygienists, is the best dental hygienist I've ever been to. He's amazing. The office staff is friendly as is Dr Nguyen, however they are seriously lacking in professionalism and the overall ability to do their jobs. I had one crown placed which is oddly shaped, rough in surface and causes intermittent pain. I foolishly let Dr Nguyen replace a second tooth with a crown as it had a small crack. Sadly, the 2nd crown has been placed so that it's not even with my other teeth so much so that you can see it pressing against my cheek from the outside. In the process of placing the 2nd crown, Dr Nguyen ground down a neighboring tooth which wasn't in need of any work in the first place, and now that tooth is now sensitive to heat, cold, and sweetness where it never had issues prior. ON TOP OF ALL THIS...the person who handles the insurance fraudulently billed my insurance company for a crown that I did not receive. When the insurance company asked for xrays, etc as support of that claim the office turned around and tried to bill my previous insurance company knowing full well that I no longer used that insurance company. AND the icing in the cake is that that also billed me for the total amount, which I paid by check at the time of service, without giving me an itemized bill. Since receiving information about the fraudulent claim from my insurance company I have asked for an itemized bill three times--twice by email, once by certified mail--and they have yet to respond. I highly recommend finding another dentist if you value your teeth and your checking account balance. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Glavin as he is an exceptional dentist and person. I have always received excellent treatment from him whether it has been for fillings or crowns. Dr. Jeffrey Glavin (Bourne Dental Associates, MA) is the best dentist I've been to in 50 years and 7 states & here are my reasons: 1) he is a consummate professional, skillfully using the most current techniques in a filling & crown; 2) he tells you ahead of time what he will be doing (showing on the x-rays & photos) and keeps you apprised you as he proceeds; 3) he is thorough, careful, and considerate - checking in periodically to be sure patient is okay; 4)all of his staff are as friendly & helpful as he is; 5) his office is cheerful, well-lit & has active bird feeders outside each window; and 6) as further evidence of his brilliance, he has the large Mass. Dental Society domestic violence poster in the office bathroom - "Do you need help? Help is available . . . You don't have to handle this alone . . ." then lots of resources. Yeah! read more

Be very weary of this outfit, what you see is not what it truly is....Before you choose this practice its prudent one fully understands the unique caveat that the practice does not fully disclose beforehand. Considering my experience this caveat should have been explained in detail where it would certainly have furnished me a red flag that this was not the dentist to use. Although polite and courteous when 1st signing up, I thought when they were explaining the pay process that something was simply not the norm. Another red flag was when I specifically asked the dentist himself, Dr. Glavin the total cost of the procedure I needed, curiously he opined that he had no idea of the cost. Found that curious where any business person normally knows exactly what they charge? I was made to talk to at that time the office manager. Curious, the manager who was not in any way a dentist was able to provide the cost, and considering she knew nothing regarding the extent of the treatment, how was this she knew far more than the man, Dr. Glavin that was the individual actually doing the work. To shorten this if you are considering Bourne Dental its best you know you are not dealing with the dentist. I slowly learned throughout that this debacle this is a company, a corporation that runs the entire show with little to no input from the man that's doing the actual work. In my case the work done for the very pricey procedure was so substandard to this day, several months later its unusable. Substandard, has never been right with no concern by anyone at Bourne Dental to as much as inquire whats wrong. Making matters even worse and after I was akin to being assaulted by what at that point was the 3rd, or 4th office manager with whom I had never met for payment I was so shook up I had to physically leave the office. It was clear at that very point the corporation simply wants money with no regard in my case if the procedure was acceptable or even working. Had this been your neighborhood dentist akin to what we are accustomed to, the Doctor himself would have certainly stepped in to make things right. After emails from me, certified letters, all opining I was doing more choking as the procedure was dismally wrong, all I continued to receive was bills, then threats, then a collection agency. Still, several months later, five thousand dollars I have already paid, a substandard, frankly messed up up and unusable job I have "never" been contacted by Dentist even with his knowledge of the profuse choking problem and unusable job. Beware, do not assume you are dealing with a dentist we have all come to know as the owner, in charge and caring. You are dealing with a faceless corporation or LLC that cares only about money and little to no care whether your procedure was successful. I am currently forced to go forward with an attorney and litigation as even though I have done everything other than picket their office, they are hell bent for me to hand over another five thousand dollars for whats clearly a botched or substandard job. Its remarkable no one at all other than a collection agency has contacted me. This is not by any measure your neighborhood dentist. This is corporate, and its fair to say this particular corporation or LLC is all about profits. I suggest you consider a dentist who has a stake in weather the procedure and result are acceptable, and not a dentist such as Dr. Glavin who simply collects a paycheck regardless of the end result..... read more
