Absolute incompetent jerks. As a resident of an Assisted Living Facility in Allendale, I had filed 28+ well-documented complaints and violations. In retribution, the Executive Director, Dan Silva, called Care Plus for a psychiatric evaluation for "behavior problems," and screener Michael Gorden not only believed his pack of lies but also repeated the false accusations in his report to have me forcibly removed from the facility claiming a mental health crisis. Instead of following proper protocol by obtaining signed statements from staff members that the behavior problems actually happened, this jerk signed authorization to have police take me to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (where I wasted an entire days, eventually clearing both medical and psychiatric evaluations. Mr. Silva had locked all of the doors and refused to re-admit me, committing the criminal offense of "Patient Dumping." His sole purpose was to get me out of the building so that he could get rid of a "nuisance Medicaid patient" and Michael Gordon was his accomplice. The matter is now under investigation by the N.J. Attorney General's Office and the OSC Office of State Comptroller, and I have filed a complaint against Michael Gorden as well for taking away my civil liberties because of malpractice. Care Plus should be closed down entirely, and both Dan Silva and Michael Gorden should be in prison. Avoid like the plague!!! read more

I've dealt with this facility for almost 10 YEARS on & off. They do not have a streamlined system of communication within their own facility; let ALONE with their clients! This is for MENTAL HEALTH CARE; provisions for patients who are DISABLED AND WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION- the fail MISERABLY in ALL ASPECTS of following up, Providing BASIC NEEDS, keeping in touch REGULARLY AND HUMANELY with their Patients!!! I'm so overwhelmed with the NEGLECT I've dealt with from this so-called "Facility". The State needs to Investigate them ASAP! Only go here if you have absolutely ZERO options for a private psychiatrist. I'd say this place is the McDonald's of psychiatric care but at least people feel better after going to McDonald's. I was stuck going here for a long time due to insurance/money issues and the flaws are beyond glaring. They're overbooked and overcrowded because unfortunately as I mentioned they're literally the only viable option for people who need psychiatric help. They treat patients like a revolving door and the 1-3 month appointment you be waiting for is practically over before it began. Nothing more than a pill mill, bad pills. No one on their staff has the expertise or acumen to provide more than the most basic first line junk like prozac or lexapro, and they aren't willing to try anything more serious due to fear of liability, so if you or someone you know needs serious psychiatric medication all this place will do is disappoint and frustrate you. I remember having to wait months to see my initial appointment, I was so close to the edge and I expressed it to the person I saw. His advice? "Start working out, eat a little healthier, get some sun etc." basically all the crap you'll find in a tabloid scam magazine at the shoprite checkout aisle. I wasn't taken seriously, and was sent home with nothing. I tried committing suicide later that night. For those who know what psychiatric medicine works for them (and it's something safe they aren't afraid to prescribe due to liability) they're passable, but if you or someone you love needs real, thorough psychiatric evaluation and a doctor who isn't afraid to try new things, avoid this place at all costs. There's a reason the rating is 1 star solid. Frankly I'm stunned it's even that high (yes I know it can't go below one star). To make things even worse, they're partnered with newbridge medical center (formerly bergen regional/bergen pines, they keep changing the name to try and erase their disgusting history) so they'll also try and have people taken away in an ambulance if you say the wrong thing. Where to? Newbridge! Why? $$$. They're also heavily subsidized by the state. Reception and billing and insurance and the service provider all say different things about how Care Plus bills. Then billing dept tries to spin it so it is the patient's responsibility to get the story straight and only after months they finally tell you that their rate is twice the amount they told you during intake. No apologies - just a sneer that you should have checked to make sure care plus wasn't doing things very differently than other offices. Eyeroll. Stay away from this organization. Competent offices and organizations do not knowingly mislead patients and fail to apologize when the rate ends up being twice the amount promised. read more

I worked atCare Plus,NJ for 5yrs. It was known for advocating for the Mentally Challenged population. I feel it did an excellent job. This population is difficult to work with because sometimes they have a dual Diagnosis. Besides, mental issues or addiction issue, they are diagnosed with many medical issues such as Diabetes, Chronic Hepatitis, Hypertension,Hypercholesterolemia,Dental problems, etc. Since this vulnerable population also chain smokes. It is extremely important to have good medical care. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find consistent medical care! It may sound easy since they have health insurance but many Doctors refuse clients with Medicaid. read more

Absolute worst thing you could do is use this place as a place for any type of mental healing! This is a place that should only be used if there's not a single option left out there. Need an appointment? Good luck with that! Waiting for a call back? Expect to wait at least a couple weeks! It's like playing Russian Roulette with your mind with the selection of the therapists they offer. I Had a good person for therapy, just not a great therapist. She made many errors and when a therapist hides or denies her mistake, she not only risks avoiding an opportunity to move the therapy forward, but also creates a breach by showing she cannot be trusted to model appropriate responsibility or, even, the ability to enact human error. So with that being said, I chose to not use that therapist anymore and requested a new one; only to be told to be prepared to wait forever for a replacement! No one should go to therapy and come out needing therapy from the results of seeing a therapist! Good luck in if you choose this place for your mental health! Nothing! No one calls ever, not even to apologize for them missing the scheduled phone appointment or to see if she is doing well. They have both of our phone numbers and yet Nothing! Then 1 1/2 weeks later we get a letter in the mail saying she missed the scheduled phone appointment and they have been unsuccessful in reaching out to us. DO NOT GO HERE. They charge you $155 right off the bat when my insurance should have covered most of the cost. I went in thinking they'll just place me with the right psychologist/psychiatrist. They don't have psychologists btw which is fine but why are you charging me $155 for one visit?! I talked with the counselor for like 10 mins. Before that they make you sit in a nasty waiting room with the TV blasting in your ear for an hour. I had a headache the entire time. The place gives you a bad feeling too, I should have listened to my first instinct when I could not find parking here. Every parking space was full! and its a decent size lot. If you're trying to better yourself, mentally, I can't not recommend any other place more than this place. I started therapy in April of 2018 paying out of pocket due to a lapse in my insurance. in June of 2018 an appointment was set up for me on October 30th at 930am with a psychiatrist. In July of 2018 my insurance was valid again, so I supplied Care Plus with my insurance information. The following day they call me telling me they need to change my therapist due to my insurance not covering who I was seeing, no problem. They tell me they'll call back in a day or two once they figure it out. I never got a call back. I had tried calling multiple times and each time my call went to voicemail and was not returned. On October 30th I arrived at 925 and walked in for my appointment, to be met with "You're 25 minutes late, we can't take you" because they had changed my appointment with informing me about it. I spent the next 2 days on the phone with Mary-Ann, a VP in the facility, explaining to her all the hassle this facility has caused me, and she seemed to be understanding about it. We left off on the last day we spoke (November 1st) saying that she would set me up with a new therapist that my insurance covers, as well as getting me an appointment for a psychiatrist that wasn't so far out (at the time the earliest time they had available was the end of December). I told her if she needed a day or two to work things out, that is fine, but just to make sure I wasn't forgotten. Fast forward to January 22nd. I still haven't received a call back from Mary-Ann, who is now not returning my calls and was told if I want to see a psychiatrist I need to go back into therapy for 3 months, due to how long it's been since I was there last. I received a letter today, January 22nd, that was post marked on December 11th, saying that due to me not reaching out to them, they will be closing my case on December 10th. Bad. I saw Kathleen DeMeers and all Kathleen did was mock the patient and she's quite sneaky and subtle. I submitted multiple complaint letters to state regulators against Kathleen DeMeers and Care Plus in Paramus off Rt 17 North. She is the worst councilor I ever went to. They charged me even though I had the Affordable Care Act insurance but of course I refused to pay her and them. Always report these type American clinicians and always put it in writing and always name names and tell the proper state agency exactly what they are doing and how they are mistreating patients. read more

I was a patient at CarePlus and unfortunately my medicaid ran out but I was told by my therapist and also by the billing department that I should continue to keep my appointments and that I was being covered under a "grant" by CarePlus. When I went to my next appointment on a Monday I ended up wasting my time because when I got there my appointment had been given away to another patient by my therapist and the front desk told me that I had been "taken out of the system" I was told to call the Billing Department and I talked to the head of billing the same day (Monday). She told me that my appointment should have never been given away and that I was being covered under this grant. She then told me that she would verify everything and get back to me within 48 hours. As expected, I did not receive any response from anyone at CarePlus within 48 hours..Its now over 3 days now and still nothing from anyone, not a word...once again I have to do all the chasing to find out whats going on.Nothing has been solved from anyone there.I will have to call tomorrow (Friday) and find out what happened,if anything happened at all.Doesnt seem to be much "care" in CarePlus.... read more

The most incompetent billing department I have ever seen. Last year they continued to bill me despite my making my MOOP. Took me four months and about 30 phone calls and emails to recoup my money. Same thing this year but instead I refused to pay them my copayment. Despite EOP sheets showing they were paid in full with no out of pocket they are illegally trying to double dip and charge me. They also charge for the wrong dates and put in for days I wasn't even at the facility. Patients beware! You won't even receive the courtesy of a return call. I would give them 0-stars if possible. I'm writing this because I tried to be civil and resolve the issue with the staff directly. The intake team from receptionist, to manager, to the director--Gabby (if she even is the director) are completely incompetent and liars. Please feel free to bombard them with concerns at (201) 986-5012, or the "owner" at 201-986-5017 though that won't get you anywhere. You'll speak to minimum three people in escalating fashion who insist they're the manager, and director, and owner and can't do anything further to assist you. It's a waste of time. the evaluation is a joke and the proctor is condescending and will act cavalier toward your concerns since that's the duty of the therapist you'll be seeing to take you seriously. Furthermore, they will fail to acknowledge any concerns already listed on your intake form and force you to put into words what THEY want to hear. They won't review the intake form before you leave to ensure accuracy. The office does not provide clear instructions and the front desk staff should not even be called "front-desk" staff as they flock behind a door and can't be found if help is needed. When you finally get the attention of one of the ladies behind the door she won't help you but will nudge to the receptionist who originally took you in to shirk responsibility. The receptionist that does check you in won't take the time to help you in your fragile time either. The office does not take the time to review the information provided to them from the patient verbally or provided on the intake forms which leads to clinical error. It is flat-out negligence though they'll never admit that. They ask redundant questions they already have the answer to, and accuse the patients of mistakes the office makes after explicitly taking fault for them. They will not offer solutions. Despite providing horrible service they will absolve themselves of owning up to their mistakes because they say "We're offering you an appointment during a time that it's very hard to find a therapist with timely appointments." This, of course, makes them pillars of light that can do no wrong. The apologies they offer are "Oh, I'm sorry YOU're reacting this way." they won't say "I'm sorry WE made this mistake." They do not have a system in place to avoid mistakes, but prefer to pick up the pieces by saying "Oh, it won't happen again." Despite wasting your time and causing further emotional damage to the patient and potentially their family, they will not provide compensation for their mistakes such as refunding your copay, so don't waste your time expecting it, and furthermore DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
