I'm compelled to hop in here with some of these anonymous 1star reviews over a receptionist... the receptionist isn't doing the eye exam, taking detailed care of your health and giving you corrective eye care solutions to live your life. Dr Cardone is. My family and I have been in Dr Cardones care for nearly 5 yrs now. Shes extremely professional, gives a very thorough exam with the latest equipment. Everything is ALWAYS clean and she has access to all the latest and greatest lens and glasses. She is FIVE STARS. People leaving this practice a 1 star should be ashamed of themselves. This is an optometry office not a vacation resort. Next they'll be saying they're upset there are no refreshments served. Went here for my yearly check up and they did a great job. Dr. Cardone explained everything to me and took her time to make sure my glasses and contacts were perfect. As an added bonus I bought a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses that I'm very impressed with. She will definitely be my optometrist moving forward. read more

Office staff not so nice. Didn't like her so to speak bed side manner

After waiting a month for an appointment, my husband went today for his scheduled yearly eye exam. This would be his first time being seen by Dr Cardone who was recommended to him from people at his job. Today at 4PM He called me and said they had no record of his appointment which I made early in November . They did , however have him in the computer with all his information I supplied after making the appointment. Very frustrating as he could've went to my Optometrist a month ago but was waiting to see Dr Cardone, Why would the information be saved in the computer if he has never been there?!? I made the appointment and gave whoever answers the phone this information. I found this to be very bad office practice and he was terribly disappointed. Was the office manager aware of this slip up?? Someone apparently wasn't doing their job. Also, why couldn't you accommodate him or even try to set up another appointment ?? I make a lot of doctor appointments and always record them as I'm speaking to the person. I wonder if the doctor is aware this happened. So disappointing....,and unprofessional. read more

I have to say, I have been going to Dr. Cardone for many years now and she NEVER ceases to amaze me. She is the most skilled Optometrist I have ever seen, and I have needed corrective lenses for 57 years. That says a lot!! She has always gotten my prescriptions perfect ( and I"m not easy!!) and the progressive lens is always spot on!! Prior to seeing Dr Cardone, I went to other well known eye glass places and they never got the progression measurement correct. Not only is she very skilled but very caring, patient and professional. She has a nice selection of frames and her Staff are so helpful and very friendly and kind. I can not say enough good things about the entire practice. Just wish everyone who needed glasses would go here. They'd never go anywhere else!! read more

Let me give you a little history lesson on this practice. Gina Cardone took over a very successful business of Dr. Vogel, a prominent eye doctor in Patchogue. She took on his patients and quite honestly, appeared in the beginning to do a wonderful job with them. I myself was a patient of Dr. Vogel's for over 25 years at the time. Now at the point of 30 years of loyalty, with no notice to ANY patients, they dropped our insurance. That's my family of five not including extended family, booted out from a place we felt comfortable, without notice. The receptionist is extremely unprofessional. She calls everyone Ma'am with a snotty, could care less about you attitude and claims that even Dr. Cardone doesn't take her insurance. (I call bull on this) Needless to say, I dealt with the move of this family office into a building with a rehab and people obviously wrecked out of their mind outside in the parking lot for loyalty reasons and maybe should have taken that as a sign to stop going there. If my insurance ever does work with them again, I will NEVER return. read more

Good luck getting friendly and attentive customer service here. I called to schedule an appointment for an eye check up and the receptionist was the least bit helpful. She acted as if she did not want to be bothered and made it difficult to make an appointment without providing my complete insurance information over the phone. Now I know my insurance is covered because a coworker went to this same place and recommended it to me. However, this did not help me one bit. My experience over the phone completely turned me off and I would rather travel somewhere else with exceptional customer service than this local disappointment. This lady lacks the basic communication and interpersonal skills and as a business woman myself I understand how important these skills are at attracting clientele. read more
