Renters Beware: My roommate lived at an apartment owned by Cardinal Point for two years and I moved in for the last nine months. We were never late on rent, no complaints, and we were told we were great tenants at departure. However, I received a check today for $1.49 out of my $1,200 security deposit. They explained in a letter the deposit was taken due to them needing to repaint the walls, and for them to send a cleaning crew in. My Roommate and I cleaned the whole apartment filled the minimal tack holes in the walls and made the place look as it did when we came in. We are not college students, we are not children, we are two ladies who rented to live close to downtown. There were no damages and we expected our deposit back. We were treated by Cardinal Point Property management as if we were not even there. We requested a simple necessity of heat multiple times before even hearing back from them. This winter was one of the coldest so far and the only reason they came (with 3 space heaters) was because we reminded them the pipes could freeze. Also our dishwasher was out of commission for the final month at our apartment and after several requests we were yet to see them until our final week. The electrician even said it was poorly installed and jimmy rigged into its spot. If you are looking for somewhere that will treat you bad, not respond to simple issues, and then take your security deposit, send back $1.49, and request for $400.00 extra ON TOP OF ALL THIS. Then this is the place for you. Thank you for teaching me a life lesson that there are scumbags and slumlords around. read more
