Believe every 1 star review and question the 5 star reviews that could easily be written by their staff... I truly hope that no one experiences what we did. Please be very careful!!! A Carfax will not report all the sketchy mechanic work or even accidents. After many pointless conversations, we still have a useless car with $5,000+ worth of problems. Our vehicle was wrecked and it was not on the Carfax. We tried our best to give them the benefit of the doubt and we gave every opportunity to improve our experience. However, it became very apparent that they were happy to wipe their hands clean of this problem early on and it seemed that they almost enjoyed the fact that they seemingly got away with it by their sarcastic tone and we could hear multiple people laughing at us on the phone. So, let me first start at the beginning of our experience. When we were shopping for the car, they told us to step our budget up from 5k to 6-7k and we would get something SO much nicer. They had 2 Honda CR-Vs available in that range, so we agreed to do so because Hondas typically have a track record of outlasting most vehicles on the road. One of the CR-Vs was present on the lot, and the other was away getting some paint to touch up scratches (or looking back was probably being tampered with). So, we drove the one that was present. We noticed a loud popping and were told that it was most likely the CV joint and it was an easy repair. We did not think much of it, however, we opted for the one that was getting touch up paint because it was a year older and a bit cheaper. (This car was for a teenager, we wanted it to be nice but also budget friendly) When we drove it home, we noticed one headlight was dimmer so we decided to order a new head light. We then had brake pads and other various maintenance done. Then we ended up having to replace some various things. We were frustrated but the vehicle was 10 years old so we gave it the benefit of the doubt. The vehicle had barely been drove at this point so none of the real issues were apparent. The first thing we learned when we received the headlight we ordered, is that the headlight would not fit because of apparent front end damage from an accident of some sort. Even then, we did not blame Cardinal. However, the real problem came when we finally started to actually drive the car, a plume of white smoke came out. We learned that the vehicle had engine problems. We called Cardinal considering we had not even had the vehicle but a few weeks and had not only had to do a substantial amount of maintenance to get it up to standard, but we had learned that the vehicle had been wrecked, AND IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. This became the start of many conversations that showed their true colors. Their first response was not that they were sorry but, that we should have bought the more expensive CR-V and we would not be in this predicament. We asked several times to speak to the owner, Hassan Mohamed, but were told we could not. They then decided after MANY calls, that they would upgrade our warranty and that this would cover any issues moving forward. However, let me tell you the warranty is USELESS. Long story short, it will go to astronomical lengths to not cover anything. The diagnosis was that it needed a new engine or a rebuild, and that someone had basically ran this car very hot. (we took this vehicle to 3 different & very qualified, auto professionals for quotes and opinions) They theorized that the front end damage busted the radiator and the previous owner did not have this repaired right away and it ran so hot that it warped the cylinder head. The engine was never fixed but covered up by sealing everything with coolant which in result caused the smoking. After speaking with Cardinal numerous times, they refused to take any accountability for the car coming off their lot with these problems and told us "You bought it, you are stuck with it."

Reliable Car & Trucks... not as reliable as they state to be…read more Lets begin with my initial experience where I was profiled based on how old I look and how I was dressed which ultimately nowadays seems to determine your net worth. If your curious continue to read about my experience. So here's why they earned them a beautiful One Star. First appearance the place seems a bit run down due to its location & upkeep. But thats besides the point. Upon me pulling up to this place of business I noticed the specific vehicle that I traveled 30 minutes to have a look at. Before purchasing a car who wouldn't evaluate the vehicle and test drive it to make a determination before beginning any financial agreements; because what if I don't like the vehicle after test driving it ? Stay with me it gets better. After I scanned the outside if the said vehicle I was not once approached by Sam nor Eric but, I noticed they were watching me examine the vehicle. Originally I though the car was SOLD because it had no paperwork being shown. ( Turned out Eric is daily driving it ). So after I couldn't see visible paperwork and I wasn't greeted, I decided to leave. But WAIT! Why leave and I drove so far to see this car and determine if this is what I want. Well this is where things took a turn for the worst. Before leaving I decided to enter their place of business and ask a few questions regarding the vehicle. After a few minutes of discussion regarding the vehicle I quickly learned that my knowledge of this vehicle was sharper then theirs. Sam even attempted to tell me wrong information about how much horsepower the car made haha But let me get to the point. So after this conversation I asked can I take the vehicle for a test drive. Immediately the look on both Sam and Eric's face changed. They begin to express to me how I didn't look as if I had the money to test drive the vehicle and if I did how would I even be paying. In shock at this point I expressed how I would be paying and they still proceeded to tell me that because of my age (21 which they didn't know until I told them) & Eric not feeling comfortable trusting me to drive the vehicle that I would have to begin financial paperwork just to test drive a car that I don't even know if I want yet. Im not sure where they got their dealers license from but this is not a place I would recommend to anyone looking for knowledgeable and respectful support in finding your dream car! I hope no-one else has to experience such profiling while trying to locate a vehicle.

The truck looked good on the outside and inside for its age. They purchased the truck at an auction on 3/18/19 with 208000miles. They had it "inspected" on 3/25/19 with 200872 miles. It "Passed"' everything that is required by NC. The truck stayed on the lot until I purchased it on 5/11/19 with 200899 miles. I noticed there was a noise coming from the front end. I brought the truck to a reputable mechanic who found that the ball joints on both sides were completely worn out. There actually was no rubber ball at all. Also, the control arms were broken. All of it had to be replaced. When I purchased it, I was told by Eric, the salesperson, that the car was checked by a mechanic and that all that was wrong was the serpentine belt, which he said they replaced. Now, I know that the truck has no warranty, but I took Eric's word as the truck being in good condition. The ball joints and broken control arms did not happen in the 2 weeks that I have owned the truck. They had worn out over time. It is hard for me to believe that the mechanic or the person doing the inspection did not see such a problem with the suspension. Especially, the person performing the inspection. NC law requires that any vehicle that is inspected has to be raised and the front end suspension has to be visually checked. Failure to do so may lead to a fine. I spoke to Eric about the problem and the first thing I was told was that there was no warranty. Then I was told that I did not pay the full price they were asking for it. His response is totally irrelevant. The price was negotiated just as one would do with a new or used car. Plus, I paid more then both the KBB and Nadaguide said that one should pay for this vehicle. I know that I probably should have had it checked out beforehand, but I didn't. I actually thought that Eric was a professional and was being honest. Long story short, I am out an additional $500.00. When I told Eric this, all he could say was if I had called him, he could have probably gotten it done cheaper for me. He also said if anything arises in the future to call him. The day I purchased the truck I noticed that the spare tire was missing. I did call Eric immediately, he said he would look for one and get back to me. I am still waiting to hear back from him on the tire. Today, I got a call from Eric and was told that he couldn't get plates because where he had the truck inspected put in the wrong VIN number. He wanted me to drive there (almost an hour) and have it re-inspected, I was not going to do that . So he arranged to have it inspected at a franchised tire store near my house. I took it there and had to wait 2 hours for it to be done. I guess my time is not as valuable as Eric's. Like I said, there is no warranty, but after finding out that there was a problem with the suspension, Eric offered no restitution in any way. If you are considering buying from Reliable, go have the car/truck checked out thoroughly before negotiating a deal and be leery of the positive feedback and ratings on social media. Unfortunately, I learned an expensive lesson. Sales people are just that, sales people. No remorse for not being 100% truthful.

We spotted a 2004 Subaru Forester at West Raleigh Auto, called and drove down the same afternoon. Really liked the car, the lot owner, Patrick, was extremely friendly and professional. We planned to come back the next day to get dad's opinion and most likely buy the car. Came back following morning, test drove a second time, made an offer on car (considering how much daughter had saved for a car), Patrick happily accepted and she bought the car. We noticed a few issues with car - rear view mirror was very discolored (with age), passenger window motor broken, car needed new wiper blades and car was not clean (it had literally only been on lot 1 day when we bought it). Patrick gave us an IOU for complete detail, replace all wiper blades, new window motor and new rear view mirror. No questions asked. We took the car home and I drove it back down to Patrick following Wednesday for the detail and repairs to be made - it took the mobile detail guy a few hours to clean, Patrick lent me a car from his lot and I just drove down to Crabtree Mall and killed the time. Very generous to lend me a car! ONLY issue we have is the following week, our daughter was running a few quick errands, locally here in WF. After her third stop in about 1/2 hour, she came out of Dollar Tree and the car would NOT start. She freaked out, called us panicking and said she turned key over and it wouldn't start. Tried four tries until it started for her. OMG. Car was only two weeks old to us and wouldn't start! What?! I texted Patrick immediately, he said bring it in on Monday, I'll have my mechanic look at it. Monday, I drove car down to Patrick, he loaned me a car again and his mechanic tried over and over to replicate stalling. He could not get it to stall... Long story short - we've owned car since first week of October. The car has stalled on me once (again after running a few quick in and out errands) and stalled on daughter on December 16. Very frustrating. Car will catch after a few tries but it undermines your confidence in the car. Oh, and there seems to be an issue with the passenger window again - we had window down, car stalled, window wouldn't go back up. After a few tries, we got car started again and window back up but daughter refuses to let anyone put passenger window down now. Saddens us that she saved up hard-earned money and there are still issues with the car but what can you do? Update 1/8/18: rear view mirror that Patrick installed completely broken and fogged over. Car stalled again twice today before finally starting. Final thoughts: Would I buy from Patrick again? Maybe. Would I get the car checked out independently before I bought it? Definitely. Is he a stand-up guy? Yes, he did try to replicate issue and just couldn't get it to happen. He stood by his word on all fixes and the complete detail (guy did a bang up job cleaning her car). Hope this review helps future used car buyers!
