I was in that area and needed a place to sit down and doing some reading. This place is really good. Casual decorated. A lot of choices. I ordered matcha latte and cheesecake. Each one was way better than I expected. The cheesecake is the best I had so far. There was caramel on top. Although I am not a fan of coffee. The matcha latte is perfect. I also saw a charming girl when I was reading. Such a good day. Will definitely go back! read more

Bicerin has become my go-to coffee shop as it's right by my school. I've tried multiple drinks from here, including the matcha latte, rose cafe latte, london fog etc; but my favorite is still their original latte. It has just the right amount of espresso & steamed milk, making it fairly bold, creamy, and smooth without being too heavy or bitter. And the latte art on top is always a nice touch. read more

the vibes in this cafe are immaculate so cozy, minimalistic and cute. the baristas are super sweet and i love that it isnt too busy, so i can sit and work without an overwhelming atmosphere. the temperature and taste of the latte was perfect and the croissant was so pretty and yummy! read more

Carbonic Coffee - latte and raspberry croissant - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

After a recommendation from a fellow Yelper I decided to give this place a try. The place is simple no frills (don't expect an AC or fancy sofas here) Rather they seem to focus on the service and quality aspect of things they even have a loyalty card which seems they want repeat business. The Barista was friendly as I asked for a sweetener to put in before the shot for my cappuccino is poured, some snobbish Baristas frown upon this so called blasphemy but heck its my cup of joe and i get to have it the way I want. No problems here he handed my the cup and said suit yourself the cup was warm which is the way it is supposed to be (trust me few places get it right) The drink itself looked great nice crema and latte art to boot. As for the taste the shot had a slight burnt taste which might or might not be your cup of tea or coffee (pun intended) I would say one of the better cappuccino I have had in TO but still not at par with the best of the best in Vancouver. 3.5 Stars overall. The Cappuccino is consistent and is one of the better one's in the area. The surprise was held by the cashew cookie I ended up trying as my friend ordered it. Good texture and nice dry finish without being overly sweet. Visited this place again as part of the ICP 2013. Drink are solid and the cashew cookie makes me want to visit them whenever I am in the area. read more

Great cozy coffee shop on Baldwin. I've had the cappuccinos, lattes, and green tea lattes there and everything is well made. The baristas are all very friendly and welcoming. Great spot for a quiet afternoon if you're in the neighbourhood! read more

It is located on Baldwin Street not Kensington Market side. It is near Mccaul street. Many of their customers are students and they study hard there. The inside is like a library. The atmosphere motivates me and I can get things done. Music is good and coffee is good. There are many kinds of drinks and baked goods look good. The price is good, too. I will try baked goods the next time. read more

+.5 for service I would like to thank one of my friends for introducing me to this place. I'm not much of a post-drink person after lunch, but I decided to give it a shot since my friend raved this place so much. The interior of this place looks very ambient, and screams "student hangout". I saw a lot of students inside, in fact, which makes sense considering its proximity to U of T and OCAD. Since I was in a rush to head back to work, I ordered a Matcha Latte. For $4 the price is a bit steep, but considering the positivity I gambled on the fact this drink would be worth the high price. Sure enough, I really enjoyed the latte! It was definitely one of the best I've had, and the matcha taste was very rich. There was also a nice leaf-shaped cream at the top, which really impressed me on this place's creativity. I even impressed my colleagues with how beautifully the leaf was shaped, and have told them to visit here since it's so close to my office. I was served by two lovely young Asian ladies, and service was overall excellent. Definitely an awesome local establishment in the popular Baldwin Village strip. Thanks Bicerin, I now know where to go in order to get some caffeine to power through my work day! read more

I used to go to Ryu's noodle bar a lot before it burned down and relocated and I always somehow walked by this place unassumingly. Well, I was in the neighborhood again and I found this place nearby on Yelp so I decided to come check it out. The place is quite boutique. The girl who served me was super friendly and gladly gave me a couple of recommendations. I settled on a lavender vanilla tea latte. When I took that first sip my mind was blown. Damn, never have I had such a good latte before. Really creamy, smooth. Perfect stuff for the cold weather outside. I'll definitely be back to try some other drinks (get some fancy latte art pics for IG hehe). read more

I am a tea drinker and I appreciate their creative tea lattes but I thought to myself, take a chance and ordered a latte. It was delicious and tasty. The coffee flavour is so authentic and smooth. I must admit I only drank it for flavour and experience but it was exceptionally tasty. The decoration that I got was very creative and made me feel extra special:) I will come back here again and get my dear friends coffee for them to enjoy. Maybe even try the coffee beans. The atmosphere is not so cliquey and the staff is friendly:) read more

Carbonic Coffee - Latte so pretty...and so good! - Coffee Roasteries Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Great coffee - I got the Bicerin expresso and it was delicious. Perfect blend of coffee and chocolate. The expresso art was also on point. Easy to access wifi - very important if you want to hold a meeting or get some work done. Plenty of seating and great music as well! All in all, would definitely recommend for doing work or holding a work meeting. read more

This was a very cute & cozy little cafe! There was free wifi and some outlets which made it a great place to study and do work! There was also a cute couch to sit at! The service was good. There was a friendly barista who helped me with a smile, which is always very refreshing. I ordered a matcha green tea latte and paid $4.20. It was very yummy and I personally liked it better than the green tea lattes from Starbucks. I was hoping to take a cute picture of the latte art, but unfortunately they ran out of the latte cups or something so she had to use a paper cup, making the latte art on the top was all smooshed. But that's no big deal (my beautiful latte photo will just have to wait 'til next time). I came on a very windy day, so the bells on the door kept jingling. I didn't get bothered by it, but if you're someone who gets annoyed by constant noises like that, then maybe try to come by on a not so windy day :) Overall I give it a 4/5! I will definitely come back to study and maybe try some food! read more

Such a cool find. Kyle was so nice. Had a nice Tanzanian drip and a cortado, both delicious!

The dude who works here made me a fan for life. He took his time making my oat milk latte with four shots and it's obvious he takes coffee seriously. So I take them seriously. 5 STAHS KID! read more

Was looking for a coffee shop that was quiet enough to read for an hour or so. Found Bicerin through yelp and very satisfied. The service was good and lots of choice for non-coffee drinkers. I got a matcha almond latte. YUM! Lots of seating and music is perfect for reading. Biggest flaw is that the bathroom situation is a bit dicey. read more

Regulars of T.A.N. Coffee in Baldwin Village already know that the cafe has changed ownership this past summer and is now operating under Bicerin Coffee. I won't go into much detail with the menu because operation-wise, everything is still the same. However, they did add two new drink items, Bicerin and Red Eye, onto the menu. Bicerin is an Italian drink that I got to try for the first time. It's an espresso with dark chocolate, similar to a mocha. The dark chocolate made the drink sweeter and I definitely liked it. Not to mention, the latte bird art was adorable on my drink! If you are a mocha fan, you should give Bicerin a go if you ever stop by the cafe. I asked one of the owners why they decided to change the interior. She told me that from customer feedback, T.A.N. Coffee did not have that homey cafe feeling to it. So they repainted the walls and made sure to add a comfy couch near the counter for a bigger group of people. I thought T.A.N. Coffee previously was cafe-like in its own sense. However, I do think that Bicerin does seem cozier compared to its predecessor. I also learnt that the other T.A.N. Coffee location at Ossington closed down. They have stamp cards available for drinks as well as coffee bag purchases! Buy 9 drinks and get one free, any kind and any size. Buy 10 coffee bags and get one free, any kind! read more

I am a regular to-go drinker here, but today was such a beautiful day that I decided to spend some time at the window seat of the cafe. Unfortunately, three of the staff came out and started smoking on the patio. Inevitably the smoke came into the cafe and made my throat hurt a lot. It simply soured my experience. Perhaps I should stick to to-go coffee here. read more

Friendly barista, comfortable space, great coffee. The Carbonic is a must try..a spin on iced coffee but so much better!

I decided to come by here since it's close to my place and I had nothing to do today. I figured I would make use to the free wifi so I'm writing this review as I chill out here with my decaf americano. (and my internet connection at home sucks... a lot...) Anyways, from the outside it looks kind of shabby but once you walk in, it's pretty nice. There's only one guy working here atm so it was a little slow getting our drinks (the lady behind me actually left, I guess she was in a rush). Ok he just turned on the radio lol and it's a little loud but that's ok. My friend's cappuccino was made beautifully and my americano was ok, just a tad too watery for my liking. The menu looked good, there were a good amount of items on there. However, I wanted to order a sandwich but I did not see any in the fridge.. Pros Tonnes of outlets everywhere Nice interior Close to my house Cons The tables we are at both aren't level.. just our luck Music.. perhaps they could make a play list on someone's Ipod.. because i hate listening to commercials OK totally random but.. they have a HUGE back room! I wonder why they didnt push everything back to create more seating? hmmm.. I would definitely come again since I like coffee shops and the internet is so fast! Hopefully they will continue to improve! read more

I have to say there are plenty of reasons to like this place: location, service, and coffee itself. I've passed so many times through Baldwin street and never noticed it. The coffee shop has a good atmosphere inside, nice music playing in the background and service was really polite and friendly. Coffee itself(got a flat white) had a nice flavour even though I wish it was a bit stronger(could have gotten double I guess). They roast their beans from what I saw which is a big plus in my book. There were just a few things for which I couldn't give 5 stars, but it won't stop me from going back. First, there seemed to be a lot of people on their laptops just taking space without even having drinks and sitting for hours. I mean it's a coffee shop. The library is only a few blocks away. The other thing is I prefer my coffee in a porcelain cup instead of glass, but not a big deal. On a side note, didn't know it was TAN at some point, which is still one of my favourites in Nova Scotia. read more

Cookie... Nom Nom Nom. YUM! TAN Coffee is yet another gem in Baldwin Village. It's a fantastic place to chill out - good music, tasty cookies, decent coffee, and pretty girls. What more could you want? read more

Please don't go here. It's just SO good, so cozy, and so humble, with the most delicious coffee and drink menu around, that I really wouldn't want anybody else taking up my favourite go-to café and study spot. ...but if you must, try their espresso, their Lavender Vanilla Tea Latte (a Bicerin favourite and a work of art made with real lavender,) and their cortado. The service is also great to boost, and the ambiance puts any Starbucks to shame. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with this place and make the trip about once a week. ...oh, but you wouldn't like it ;) read more

I came during the beginning of a snowstorm. I've never wandered this far down Baldwin before, but it kind of caught me off guard how really beautiful it was out here with all the small shops tucked snugly together on what seemed like a residential street in a residential area. Did have a kind of off the beaten path charm to it, a slice of peace in the middle of a chaotic city. I swung by because of the Indie Coffee Passport, but from what I could tell they had quite a bit of selection and seemed a versatile space as it had individuals studying and a group of friends lounging about, chatting. I noticed they have a couch that looked really comfy!! Some books, too. The atmosphere in this place definitely didn't disappoint, and had a very neutral kinda rustic feel to it (does that make sense? Lots of wood art and things were either a very crisp black or white) however, if I remember correctly, there were small splotches of colour here and there. Still really nice though, I'm not sure if my description did justice :P In terms of the quality of the drink, I got an americano, wasn't the best one I've ever had but it wasn't horrid either. The server looked like a cross between bored and tired, and did a lot of head nodding and little (if any?) talking. Nice area, musics ok, but it's not too bad otherwise. Maybe more of a 3.5 than a 3. read more

Such a cute little place on Baldwin! Made a quick stop here to grab some caffeine and settled on the matcha latte. It's delicious with great matcha flavour. A little sweet but I kind of like it that way. Hubby got a flat white. He thought it was pretty good, but not necessarily better than Starbucks or Second Cup. They had lots of baked goodies behind the glass (ginger molasses cookies with a chunk of ginger on it!). I didn't get one but will definitely get that or the cashew cookies. My only complaint is that the space is small. Yes there are tables and benches to sit at (and even a couch too!), however they're all full of people and sprawled with their laptops/tablets. If you're looking to pop in and get one on the go, it's pretty good. They have the good cup covers (not like Tim Horton's). read more

This was a lovely little coffee shop. More and better seating than I'm used to (ugh, DC coffee shops) and with a few fun twists on the menu. I didn't get a chance to try the Rose Café Latte, but the Lavender Vanilla Tea Latte was a wonderful way to unwind on a Sunday afternoon- not overly floral, by still full of flavor. I'd definitely recommend this place! read more

This is a cute, quiet cafe on Baldwin. I thought it was a little expensive relative to how much coffee I got. There is a decent amount of seating and an outdoor patio, but the place tends to fill up around lunch time. They've recently renamed themselves but everything is still under the T.A.N. Coffee name for now. This great little place is tucked away on Baldwin Street and is easy to miss! They have great coffee and a tiny patio (seats about 4 or 5), which if you're lucky will be free to relax on. I've tried the latte and a couple other of their offerings, all of which were delicious. Definitely will be back here regularly. read more

Bicerin Espresso Bar is a cute little coffee shop on Baldwin Street. There is a small patio outside and plenty of seating inside. I ordered a regular americano and the server was friendly and pleasant. The coffee itself could have been warmer and as I got towards the bottom of the cup I could taste some coffee grinds which wasn't ideal. I will definitely drop by again as the patio is too nice to pass up. Ideal for a spot of people watching or some light reading. A solid three stars! read more

The coffee is fantastic! The staff is pleasant. Love the patio in the summer. Baldwin east of Spadina is a pretty and cool street. I've had some of the food...bagels, sandwiches. They do the job but nothing to write home about. My only real complaint is the seats. They are like little stools and so uncomfortable. To enforce a time limit? If so, smart thinking! :P read more

One of my favourite coffee shops in the neighbourhood, this Baldwin village staple is cute, cozy, and fairly priced. The wi-fi is reliable, the drinks are delicious (matcha flat white is quickly becoming my go to drink!) and the service is wonderful. They have some tasty food too; I really enjoy the veggie bagel sandwich, made with good quality ingredients and lots of cheese! The entry is wheelchair accessible (though the door may be hard to open for a wheelchair user; no automatic door) which is great for an area with few accessible coffee shops. Highly recommended to get some work done or chat over coffee with a friend. read more

2.5 stars Pros: - Great coffee - Chill atmosphere Cons: has a bit of a cheap feel. Allow me to explain: -The light in the washroom was off and there was tape over the switch. I really did not appreciate washing my hands in the dark. Please fix the facility before re-opening as I think a dark washroom is pretty unacceptable. - Also, they have a loyalty card which used to be decent but has been altered to include a division into two sections: specialty coffees and regular. That way when you get a "free" beverage after purchasing ten, it cannot be a specialty coffee, I.e espresso-based, if you haven't been getting stamps for the more expensive drinks. So strange. Also the owner refused to honour an older version I had which seemed very stingy and unprofessional. This was a couple of years ago and after a recent visit this weekend, I remembered they do make very good espresso-based drinks. It just seems every time I'm there there is something that gives the place a cheap feeling. They do make a mean coffee though, so on the very rare occasion, I continue to visit. read more

Great coffee, nice atmosphere, and friendly staff. What more could you ask for? My friend and I ducked in for a coffee during a torrential rainfall and declared that this was our new cafe.
