Luckily, they had the expertise to get things sounding great for me after adding a couple of additional components from the initial setup we tried. I'm picky about sound to say the least. I've also had around 24 different cars in my life all with upgraded stereos of some sort. So when I tell you this place knows what they're doing. they certainly do! Highly recommend David! EDIT: Store is under new management and they are taking steps to resolve the numerous issues on the vehicle. Will update further as project moves forward. Bumping from 1 (zero) star to 3 star for Mike and Brian's efforts. Still having issues but they seem committed to resolving. Nothing perfect in this world...just want some effort and they're trying, so that's good. Hoping this all gets resolved and happy to further edit. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE!!!! I can not stress enough, the incompetence at the Lone Tree story is astounding! I spent over $8000 on "toys" to my new car and the only thing that works is the subwoofer. I have taken my car back 4 times now, and each time the problems get worse. Now that they've dragged out the repairs, they say it's past the 30-day window and won't honor the return policy. So I'm stuck with $8k of crap equipment that doesn't work. This isn't even an exhaustive list of the missteps, manipulations and flat out lies. * Head unit randomly turns itself on and off. * Head unit disconnects and shorts out near hospitals * Head unit does not dim at night, causing safety issue. * The radar detector...same. Randomly shuts on and off. * The car alarm I had them install...randomly sets itself off, usually early in the morning, waking neighbors up. I have resigned to disconnecting the battery and no longer driving my car. * Key fob no longer works. The only way to unlock car is by touching the handle. That or just leave unlocked. * Key fob no longer opens trunk. * At times the heads lights refuse to turn off, no matter the position of the switch. * The USB plug-in's no longer connect. On the 3rd visit I was told by the store manager that it wouldn't be a problem to bring it back and remove all the components, refund me my money and make me whole. On 4th visit (3rd visit fix didn't work) I am told by the new manager (now the 3rd manager at the store...tells you how well they're doing) that nothing is refundable. Not one cent. Rather, the "fix" would be to swap out to different equipment, at my cost, that doesn't "really fit in the vehicle right." Are you kidding me??? This is the fix, is to make it even worse??? If these were my answers in my professional I'd be toast! I told the (now 3rd) manager this was unacceptable. He told me I'd have to hunt down the 2nd store manager (no longer there) and take it up with him and that he was unable to offer any other solution. Then he hung up on me. I honestly haven't washed my car in quite some time and the inside was pretty full of dog hair. They did a great job getting the floor mats scrubbed clean, the inside dog hair out and they did an excellent job on my headlights. No wonder why I couldn't see well driving at night. Bought the Groupon for interior detail, and you're supposed to get $130 worth of an interior detail, but what I got was sub par. They did tell me the cleaning would be "basic", but can they honestly say that they stand by this kind of a cleaning for $130..? I would feel like a criminal if someone paid me $130 to leave so much to be desired. They were all very nice, but I really hoped for more. This Car Toys location in Highlands Ranch went way above and beyond to help me resolve a problem with my auto lift tail gate. Brian O. at this location helped me figure out what parts to order from the car dealership, and even told me what a reasonable price was for those parts. I got first rate attention from him, and he always took my calls. When I got the parts, he told me to come on over right then and he would do the job. He had it all fixed within a couple hours and DID NOT CHARGE ME ! WHY? I don't know, but I am forever in his debt. He is just fantastic. If you want your car to be worse then before, then go here. This was the worst service I have ever received. I dropped my car off for my 10am appointment they scheduled for me, only for them to tell me they could actually only do it in the afternoon, and then changed that to the next day. I left my car with them over night, and at 1130pm got a notification on my phone the car was on, unlocked, and the air was running. Fortunately I can turn that off and lock the door on my phone. I texted them that the car was left unlocked and on and no one responded. At 11am the next day, over 24 hours later I asked when I could get my car and got no response. I finally went in to get my car as I was fed up, and they casually told me it had been done for an hour. When I went to see how it looked, (keep in mind the interior detail servicing I paid for came with cleaning surfaces, vents, and windows). The windows were not clean what so ever (there was no attempt even to clean them), the vents were not clean, and there was spray marks everywhere in my car. It looked like someone took a spray bottle squirted it 20 times and called it a day. When I went back in to tell them what was going on and to come look at my car, everyone avoided me, and two different workers said "I didn't do it" and went and hid in the back and didn't say anything else. Finally some man who I believe doesn't even deal with detailing came and helped me clean the windows. When I finally got the women who went and sat in the back to talk to me at the front, she made no regards to feeling sorry or empathetic, understanding the situation, and when I asked if I could get a discount... because why would I pay full price for a service that was only 1/3 complete. She disregarded me again and said "I need your Groupon code." Overall, the customer service is terrible. They charge you for services they do not provide. And you cannot trust to leave your car with them, as mine was left on with the air running and unlocked at 1130pm at night. read more

Purchased tint from this location 4 months ago now, the tint has started peeling. When I called to ask about the warranty they informed me to arrive as close to when they opened as I can and it will get taken care of. I show up today and the tint installer is not at the location and they can not provide any time he would be in, all they could say is leave the truck or schedule an appointment which was not an option on the phone. Huge shout out to Dalton (installer), Jordan (salesman), and the entire store team for helping me out. Previously had a system installed by another company altogether. The wiring originally done was shoddy at work and had actually MELTED the insulation. Wires were everywhere in the laziest way ever. Things were so bad I had to take that company to court. While waiting for them to pay up, Car Toys has helped me begin fixing the mistakes bit by bit. The work Dalton did is so crisp, clean, and well done, I was impressed, and that's saying something. I told the sales person, who was very nice. Thanks but no thanks. He said well wait let me see what I can do, he came back OK how about $816 red flag #1. Agree to price made an appointment, arrived 5 minutes early for appointment and was waiting outside with 7-10 other people. Red flag #2, this was at 10AM. At 3:30 have not heard from anyone called waited 15 minutes on hold only to be told it was not started yet. I said cancel we will come pick it up, it's getting late. Went back and once again waiting just to get my key and heard the guy at the counter say to another Customer it was looking like 7PM pick up. Now, the lights on the heater/AC controls don't work and they tried to tell me it's the LED lights. Well, they worked just fine before they moved the controls. Furthermore, the battery keeps dying so we replaced the battery. The new battery has died 3 times now too. It's clearly not the battery but the way they hooked everything up (incorrectly). Absolutely the worst store. Maybe just the worst company? My factory stereo broke and it was cheaper to just buy an aftermarket one than replace the factory deck. After doing some research I landed at car toys and picked out a new deck that supposedly came with free installation. Come to find out that the "free install" actually cost more than $600. I did some price shopping and found several cheaper options, but none that could schedule my install in the next several weeks, so I reluctantly returned to this store. I made an appointment on a Thursday to have my radio installed on Saturday as I was leaving town for the day and could leave the car with them overnight. They asked me to drop off the car by 11 that morning, but when I arrived on time the tech said that he wasn't sure I was actually going to drop the car off and that he had accepted other work instead. That should have been a warning but he assured me that he would be able to get to the install that afternoon and since I was leaving town anyway that wasn't a big deal. The next day, when I got back into town and called to make sure the car was ready, I found out that they hadn't even started on my vehicle yet! The manager was defensive and refused to take responsibility- instead putting it on the installer who was conveniently not there. Overall I would strongly recommend that you take your business elsewhere. I stated to Dave how much do you charge $ for interior detail only; shampoo carpets, floors & armor-all interior vinyl Dave stated aprox $199 out door. I ask Dave to see what he could do as far as giving me a break on that $199 price & Dave stated I'll get you a discount ; $199 way-over priced especially when Suds Factory Carwash just down the street-used to charge $99 for same service. Dave & I went in to store & cashier gave me a retail price of $199 out door; I stated to Dave thought we discussed some type of discount & Dave stated 'yes' & told cashier $166. At this point Manager overheard & stated discount what you think this is & proceeded to state in his condescending attitude & voice we always work off retail. Manager at this store on this day Jan 28, 2020 at 8:30am was condescending, rude, belligerent & just plain nasty; a total incompetent, unbelievably rude toward & with customers. To show others how rude this Mgr was if he has such a nasty attitude in front of customers what do you think he does when customers aren't present? Bottom line when I picked up my Car at 6:00pm; Dave stated my vehicle would be ready in no more than 3 hrs after 9:00am-called at 4:30pm & vehicle 'still' wasn't completed. This is the first negative review I've ever left in my life and I'm only doing it to warn other individuals: PLEASE NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. They attempted to install a touch screen ($1300) on my car I took my car home the first time and my heater wouldn't turn off. Literally would not turn off. I took it back for them to "fix" the issue and this continued to happen 9 times. They never offered to help with pick up or drop off and every time they needed my car for the entire day. 9 times. After picking up my car the final time and realizing the HEATER WAS STILL ON, I asked them to just remove the screen and install my old deck back. Fast forward 5 months, today I took my car to my mechanic to install a remote start. He opened up my car and called to let me know it was such a MESS (random wires, things wired incorrectly) that he could install anything in my car until he cleaned up the mess car toys had created. I called the store to report my findings and the individual who answered the phone said "yeah dealerships always say that about our work. It's not us." Seriously? My family friend who is doing me a favor is lying to me about the mess I saw with my own two eyes? I purchased the ultimate detail services for my '15 Subaru Outback. I was told that my car would look amazing when done. I dropped off on Friday night and was told to pick up at 2 on Sunday. When I arrived, there were multiple sections of my car that were not even vacuumed, the trunk being the biggest section. When I pointed out the missing areas, they said that they would fix right away. I then looked at the sheet (photo included) that clearly states the auto mats would also be cleaned- which were not. I was told to bring the car in the following day with the radio and they would see about putting it in. Arrived the following day to find out they would not be able to put the radio in for another two days. Agreed reluctantly and got a rental car so I could get to work. The get a call the following day that they can't put the radio in at all. But I already have the rental. Had the manager of the installers taken the time to really look at the radio I would not be out the price of a rental car. So I go and pick up my car and I find that the in dashboard CD player has been disconnected and is laying on the floor of the car. This was still attached and plugged in when I dropped off the car. My experience started back in June of 2020 when I went into Car Toys to upgrade my factory speakers. I worked with Trevor who seemed knowledgeable enough at the time, and ended up purchasing four Focals (one component set and another standard set). Went home to install it and realized that Trevor gave me a smaller set of component Focals then what I had actually purchased. They were already closed for the day, so I had to leave my car disassembled in the garage overnight until I could go back and make the switch. Frustrating, but not the end of the world. After one of my buddies listened to my system he decided he wanted to upgrade his sedan. Went back to car toys and worked with Trevor again, where we purchased four new speakers, a new Kenwood head unit, cables, sub, amp, and dash kit. We made it very clear to Trevor that we wanted to maintain all factory settings from the steering wheel controls and the backup camera. He said it would be fine, until we researched everything he sold us and realized it wouldn't retain the backup camera. Returned all the cables and went to a different audio store to purchase the right ones. Our install went great and we have a great system (with a backup camera) no thanks to Trevor. In April 2020 we decided it was time to give my Focals more power with a new head unit, five channel amplifier, and a sub. I really didn't want to go back to Car Toys given the last two experiences with Trevor but Crutchfield was out of almost everything due to a COVID shortage. Having already experienced their unethical sales techniques I did all of my research ahead of time and only used Car Toys since they had everything in stock. This time I was a very informed buyer. Spoke with Trevor in person informing him I was going to purchase everything two days later, and wanted to make sure they still had it in stock. He said they were out of the Kenwood head unit but would order it from another store so I could pick it up two days later. We went over the quote and it came in $250 over what I was anticipating. I asked for a printed quote and he said that they don't do that. Came back two days later on Trevor's day off and sat with the manager for literally an hour as we went through the quote line by line on the computer. This was in between the manager helping other customers since they were so short staffed. I found out that Trevor added a $250 extended warranty without my permission and the wrong wiring harness for my car. I made the manager price match everything from Crutchfield and brought the quote down almost $400 (thankfully I was paying attention). He went to get everything from the back room and realized Trevor never ordered the stereo. I ended up driving all the way to Littleton to pick it up from the store he should have ordered it from two days prior. Went to install everything and found the dash kit wouldn't fit the new stereo as it sat an entire inch behind the opening. Went back to Car Toys and Trevor said, "oh that's just the way it is." I asked if a better bracket existed and he said "Nope. Subaru's will always have the radio recessed into the dash." Did a little more research and found that is a common problem with those brackets. Ordered a new bracket off Crutchfield (who finally had it in stock) and it fit perfectly. The radio is flush with the bracket and looks amazing. One side note: we ran into an issue during the install on this car and called car toys for some advice. We were told we had to schedule a consult with a tech for $100 an hour. They weren't even willing to answer two questions even though I purchased LITERALLY EVERYTHING from them. We did some troubleshooting and had everything working in a few hours, again no thanks to Car Toys. I can only imagine the kind of experience we would have had if I let their ignorant technicians touch my car. Definitely won't be going back for the next project. read more
