My family participated in a virtual mozzarella pulling class over the weekend. The whole process was easy: we purchased tickets online, received a zoom video link via email and supplies/curds were delivered on ice via Fed Ex a day ahead. Add some hot and cold water, a few random kitchen tools and you'll have a 90minute activity full of information and fun! The end result = fantastic mozzarella cheese and "liquid gold." The cheese is amazing and the process easy enough to never eat store bought again. We will definitely be regulars!! I've already shared the idea with friends as far away as Washington State...

One of the best places in the US for fresh Mozzarella cheeses. I learned so much about Italian cheeses, the process of making cheese and all about the cheese cave. I had a great time. Looking forward to going to the restaurant.

ALREADY heard from someone I had recommended this to who saw my post and told me how to post a picture...here's my COTTAGE CHEESE STYLE MOZ!

OMG, I had the exact same reaction and same thing happen as Mary Tochelli did on the REVIEW PAGE of Caputo Brothers Creamery Facebook page. Mine arrived HOT and I messaged them and they said just put it in the frig, it would be ok. All morning I worked on this EXACTLY like they said, messaging the entire time that it wasn't working. They just kept sending video links. Water 190°, stainless bowl, rubber gloves, strainer, timer etc. There were NO instructions in my pkg. though they insisted there were. I sent a photo and said it was like cottage cheese and they kept sending videos. If I could post this somewhere I thought people would actually read it and see it, I would, bu I don't know where to do that. Also, I kept telling them that I think it was bad since it was delivered hot...not just warm from a car, but HOT....maybe too many days in the shipping etc. I was a charter cook for MANY years in the Caribbean and was even asked by a N.Y. publishing house to write a cookbook, which I did. You can see that on Amazon, if you google my whole name, SYLVIA WILLIAMS DABNEY. It's called "The Boaters Cookbook", just to prove the point that I KNOW HOW TO COOK and this was a TOTAL failure with a disappointing response from the owners of Caputo Brothers Creamery. Again...it turned out like cottage cheese!!! I sent them the pic of a bowl of cottage chesse...NO RESPONSE AT ALL. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE Mozzarella!!!!! AND if I knew how to post that picture here, I WOULD!!!

I went to Caputo Brothers to pick up a few of their house made cheeses and decided to stay for lunch. I was very impressed with the food I was served. I had a noodle soup as well as the cheesy bread. Wow! Were they both excellent. This is a tucked away gem located in the heart of Spring Grove! If you are looking for a different place to go for lunch consider the drive for a wonderful experience. And while you are there you can grab some fresh cheese to take home with you!

Pulling fresh Mozarella during the dinner!

Absolutely wonderful dinner "event". 5 Italian courses of fabulous food made by 2 chefs trained in Italy. Many courses contain cheese made by their own creamery on site. Fresh herbs and vegetables were also grown by the chefs or were bought at a local farmers market. The couple that run Caputos, share their love of Italian cooking and food. As diners, you can assist in pulling your own fresh mozzarella, nothing compares to fresh, warm mozzarella, and you can participate in making your own pasta. What a lovely night spent with friendly people who seem to really enjoy everything they are doing! Expect to spend about 4 hours. BYOB

Awesome "salad" being prepared by Chef Dave of @caputobrothers during this weeks amazing culinary event.

Love their cheese! Wish they were open at their location, instead of having to purchase their cheese in grocery store.

In the rear of the shop, past the fine cheeses, freshly baked baguettes, and clam chowder that is to die for, Chef Mark has a small kitchen area and raised settings for 10 lucky people to sit, watch and learn as Chef Mark and his Sous Chef Ethan prepare a themed menu upon which the class participants get to enjoy. And enjoy is truly an understatement!!!! I've taken three of the classes and have booked three more. My first class was Italian steak which began with a hearty white bean, escarole, and sausage soup, followed by a fresh and balanced panzanella salad, which the class dined happily on while Chef Mark prepared the main event. It was a 2+ inch thick steak topped with Gorgonzola cheese and a caramelized onion sauce. The taste, size, and quality of this steak was not to be believed!!! Chef Mark must have some deep connection to the Beef Gods themselves. In short, a magnificent meal where I met some very nice people, learned a lot from Chef Mark who is low key but very personable and full of entertaining stories of his life and career as a chef including tips on buying quality, healthy, ingredients!! My last class was a Greek themed class. It began with a tasty starter of slices of his fantastic, and freshly made baguettes and a dipping sauce of whipped feta, topped with finely diced green onion, garlic, and sundried tomato!! The Chef does not play when he is tempting your taste buds. It was delicious!!! This was followed by a Greek Lemon Chicken Soup which tasted so fresh, clean, and healthy, I designated it as the first new recipe I will try and make myself. The chicken, carrots, and soft rice in a yummy lemon tinged chicken stock was pure heaven!!! And if I hadn't already had a fork stuck in me, I'm done feeling the main course is ready!! 2 inch thick lamb chops sourced from the Greek Gods themselves, over crispy, browned roasted potatoes which were also covered with the pan drippings!!! Just kill me now so I can die a happy man!!! Or maybe just wait till after dessert!!! Once again, a fantastic meal taught simply by a fantastic Chef, and Sous Chef and enjoyed completely by a nice group of people who wanted to learn and expand their culinary horizons. Chef Mark and Sous Chef Ethan without a doubt nourished our minds and even more importantly our bellies!!! Take a class and savor the experience!!!!
