A sweet taste from Greece. Today I tried Papadopoulos Petit-Beurre biscuits, which cost $4.50. These biscuits were two-sided: one side had smooth milk chocolate, and the other side was plain. The flavor wasn't overwhelming, it had the perfect balance of sweetness. The chocolate was smooth, and the biscuits had an authentic, natural taste that reminded me of childhood cookies baked by a grandmother. I had never tried biscuits that you could eat many of without feeling overwhelmed by the chocolate. They were crunchy with a smooth texture, smelled delicious, and came in a bright red package that definitely catches the eye. The image on the front of the package clearly shows the smooth chocolate side of the biscuit inside. Everything felt very authentic, from the packaging to the taste, which was soft and sweet. These biscuits are definitely worth a try if you happen to stop by Mandros Imported Foods. The biscuit is a Greek treat that blends buttery cookies with smooth milk chocolate. I also learned that this biscuit originally came from France, but the Greek brand Papadopoulos made it their own. Greek refugees from Constantinople established the business in Greece, starting by hand-making the biscuits with a family recipe and selling them to a population unfamiliar with them. Today, the company is very popular in Greece. The store also offers a wide range of foods from many different cultures, including more biscuits from Italy. It's interesting to see how food can travel across cultures and become part of new traditions, and how we, as humans, connect with each other even through snacks as simple and as good as these. fandmcollege and @fandm_history on Instagram and TikTok and #FandMEverywhere.

Great selection and knowledge of quality imported foods. The olives are the best in town and Bill's expertise on cheese is superb.

I am here to tell you that as a cheese lover, these spreads are BEYOND ridiculous. Seriously. I WISH that we had something this awesome in North Carolina. I swear she uses these dips as an enticement to get me to visit. She tells me that they make a fantastic smoked kielbasa as well. I will be honest, I can't see this shop doing ANYTHING badly. I am so not kidding here. It's like they have an extra ingredient that makes it so addicting. You don't even have to be hungry, once you try the garlic herb dip you can't stop. Until that is you notice the tub is now empty. Run, don't walk, to any of these locations for these truly delicious spreads!

I told my wife, let's break tradition and serve something different for Thanksgiving. Instead of a supermarket ham, let's buy a smoked ham from the Amish country. I found online S. Clive Weaver. I called the store and spoke with the manager. I asked about the store hours as well as Thanksgiving Ham. (I'm thinking it's going to be a blood bath, 1000 people running into the store screaming HAM!) The manager assured me this is not the case, there will be plenty of boneless, smoked ham for us to choose. We pulled up to, it seems like a mini supermarket. Once inside, it felt like when the Wizard of Oz went from Black & White to color. There is EVERYTHING one would need for a holiday dinner. The first thing I noticed was the beautifully arrangement of baskets. There were multiple sizes of meat and cheese baskets, I never had a sweet salami? The blocks of cheese, were cubed and served to our Thanksgiving guests. Everyone loved the unique flavors that are not regional to where I live. They also had a pie station with many different flavors of homemade pies. I brought home a Shoo Fly Pie? Filled with the warm spices of the holiday, another hit with my Family. Now for the Ham, there was a wall of ham! Ham everywhere. I chose a hefty porker, it was very easy to cook. Again, everyone loved the flavor of the smoked ham that I snuck across state lines. S. Clive Weaver, it was a pleasure to shop at your establishment.
