I had to re-crop and edit majority of all photos as best I could as all the edits completely washed out our skin tone, the colors of the sky etc. I asked for the raws so I could just edit them myself from scratch and it's been 2 weeks and still haven't received them. Didn't remind us or inform to take phones/wallets out of pockets so those just look lovely in all our photos **sarcasm**. Book with someone else who knows what they're doing and takes their time on special memories like this. Updating my review! Got some of the raws back a day after making my review, which was nice of her to send as she said she didn't usually do so, but the quality of the photos look like they were taken on an iPhone..it was nice to see some of the photos that didn't come through as finals. Valerie is also very witty and has a style of humor where she's super quirky, but in a good way that makes you feel less shy and self conscious when you're taking photos and more willing to express your true self during the photoshoot. Her rate is also incredibly reasonable and competitive! Besides being an awesome photographer, Valerie is also really great in helping you with bridesmaid tasks during the wedding. This includes helping you with bustling your dress, carrying your gown train around, securing your veil to the back of your head, or pining boutonnières on for your parents/wedding party members. I was especially grateful for her in doing all the boutonnière pinnings as I had no idea how to do that and definitely did not want the added stress of trying to figure it out on the day of. One tip that I suggest when taking your engagement or wedding photos is to have some ideas of poses you want or have a list of the specific sites you want to take pictures at your wedding venue. I regret not doing this as, after the wedding, we realized there were a couple places we wish we had taken more photos at. Additionally, our wedding photos had many similar poses sprinkled throughout and I wish I had researched/looked at more wedding photos in general to get ideas of what other poses we could've done. However, considering how much details are involved in weddings, these are sort of just "cherry on the top" stuff which would've been nice to have but aren't deal breakers. I was excited to use this studio after booking on peerspace for my music video shoot! The plan was…read moreto use fake blood on a white background, and I know some studios are scared of that so I contacted them ahead of time and was assured this would be no issue. Katie from management told us "We've had messier shoots" as you see in the attached photo messages and that worst case we'd pay a $100 repainting fee We finished our video shoot and there was quite a mess of blood that needed mopping. We asked the on staff manager multiple times if there was more we could do to help clean as we did NOT want to leave the place in a mess that the location would be unhappy with. We were reassured multiple times by THEIR staff that we were good to go and they would "take care of it". We also stayed behind with the artist from our shoot, videographer, and director to assist however we could. Before leaving, once again we were reassured the place would be all set. After all...we paid a cleaning fee AND the repainting fee that was mentioned. The next day I get a scathing unprofessional phone call and texts from the owner who clearly had not communicated with Katie or the on staff manager and was upset at the mess left. I was shocked! We had such a great time, in fact I even left an amazing review for them on peerspace! I was forced by peerspace to pay an additional $400 in cleaning fees, which I did... and they had the AUDACITY to write me a bad review as if I was to blame for their staffs poor communication skills. YES we were aware this would be a messy shoot, that's why we asked up front AND prior to leaving if they needed us to clean more. There's a lot of other places to film your projects. I'd avoid here. They blame the client for their own poor communication. They could've told us no up front...they didn't. The on staff manager could've asked us to clean up better prior to leaving after we stayed later and asked if they needed more from us....they didn't. We were reassured multiple times we were all set prior to leaving the set. And then were charged hundreds of dollars on TOP of the cleaning and repainting fee we offered. I'm not sure how this would be our crews fault, but such is life. This business is untrustworthy and run by an unhinged owner. AVOID.

The space is beautifully large, clean, and filled with natural light--perfect for both learning and creating. All of our attendees had ample room to work comfortably, and our guest speaker had more than enough space to present and engage. We also brought in models for hands-on shooting, and the studio provided a polished, professional, and welcoming environment. The staff was incredibly helpful, assisting us with everything from sound setup to kitchen access. Their support made the day run smoothly. Overall--wow! You truly can't beat the size, atmosphere, or the amazing team at Skylight Studios. I'd absolutely rent this space again without hesitation and actually can't wait to do so!
