Ruff has done our photos for our engagement, our wedding and now our first home! Every experience has been above and beyond. After not seeing them for 2 years, working with other photographers during that time, and then seeing them again, reminded us how much we truly love working with Ruff and Leslie. They are so personable, accommodating, professional and have a strong eye for photography. Their energy is genuine and organic. Even my 14 year old son said he loved working with them! I would also like to comment on the negative post that I read regarding Leslie not reaching out as soon as the client wanted to. I believe that you cannot expect a business to comment back right away. You need to give at least 48-72 hours for a response. That expectation was just wild especially for one of the best photographers in SD. These are busy business owners! AND parents at that! So that negative review is not a true representation of this business. I can speak on that because Leslie has always responded in a respectable timeframe. They have always been flexible with locations, dates and times. They do their very best to make sure everyone is on the same page and aligned. They are worth the wait and the $$$. You get more than what you pay for plus you're supporting a POC local small business!! Book them for everything over and over again. They have witnessed and been apart of such huge milestones in our lives. We wouldn't have it any other way!

Understandably, everyone in the wedding business is probably swamped.. so I've tried to be patient. And maybe I should've been more upfront with my budget but I feel like once I mentioned my range, all communication was cut off/halted. The prop selection and setup, backdrops, lighting, and the visibility of our baby all felt subpar in comparison to what she posts. There's not one photo where baby's entire face is showing - he's partially covered either by the props, his clothing, his own or our hands in each photo. There was very little guidance from Lety during the shoot to ensure that we were posing appropriately for the family photos, so the baby's positioning is awkward and there was very little to choose from. After telling her what I envision creatively prior to the shoot, I felt she did the bare minimum to meet 1-2 ideas out of several. She also made a disclaimer when booking that she chooses all the costumes and props in advance. We also were not made aware ahead of time that certain types of photos were not possible such as "digital" shots that are displayed on her instagram. This was a huge bummer. When I gave her feedback post-shoot, she blamed it on my baby, and also my dog even though she didn't communicate any issues with him during the photo shoot. I wanted to share my experience because my baby is 4 months old and I'm still devastated that we can never get those moments back to recapture our baby's newborn essence - it's such a short moment in time. I don't want another parent to feel what I've felt.
