He recommended a time in the afternoon to meet for "golden hour", but we were a bit apprehensive about the time due to our baby's sleep schedule. Mike was very understanding and said we could play it be ear as the day gets closer. The day before, we decided to meet in the morning instead, which Mike graciously accommodated. The photoshoot itself was a very pleasant and seamless experience. Mike was very friendly and made us feel at ease. Newborns are not always the most cooperative, which Mike was very understanding about. We even went over the hour-long time limit of the photoshoot, which he said not to worry about. I also mentioned how I liked some shots he did with another family that I saw on his website, which he was happy to try to recreate with us!

Despite having a scheduled time, we weren't seen until close to 4:00 PM. There was no clear organization in the line appointments and walk-ins were mixed together, and walk-ins were being taken before those with reservations. When our appointment time had already passed and we stepped forward to ask when we would be seen, we were criticized by others in line, which was uncomfortable and completely avoidable with proper line management. The most disappointing part was the actual interaction with Santa. There was little engagement with the kids, they weren't asked what they wanted for Christmas. This was especially frustrating since the reservation form specifically asks what your child wants for Christmas. What's the point of including that information if it's never used? We made an appointment expecting a smoother process and a more magical, personalized experience for our kids. Unfortunately, neither happened. Definitely not what we expected, especially during the holidays.

We never felt rushed during the session--she allowed plenty of time for diaper changes and feeding. In fact, we even went overtime because she genuinely wanted to ensure we got all the poses we wanted. Once on the beach she was such a pleasure to talk to just as a human being, and made taking pictures relaxing, she did such a great job with our two year old son (making him laugh) and me being pregnant (feeling comfortable in a see-thru flowy gown). She told me the pictures could take up to 2-3 weeks before we got them, and around week 4 I text her to make sure everything was okay, and the next day she sent us the pictures.
