Best BBQ ever!! All of their food is delicious but the ribs are superior to anything else around.

This place lived up to the reviews. We ordered two CAPTAIN'S COMBO SAMPLERS - one with brisket & turkey and the other with ribs and pulled pork. All were excellent with so much flavor that I didn't even need any extra sauce. (Of course, I can't and didn't pass up sweet BBQ sauce). SIDES: Another excellent pick was the collard greens which was great as-is or add some of the hot vinegar for extra kick. YUM! The cucumbers were good too but I would probably opt to go double on the collard greens next time. Our meal came with corn bread but we didn't eat it. I'm more of a garlic bread gal and not so much a corn bread fan. KIDS MEALS: The kiddos' mac and cheese was really good, very creamy and delicious. I always get disappointed when I go to a restaurant and the kids' mac is clearly the stuff from a box - which was definitely not the case here. For Captains BBQ: Maybe considering offering the mac n cheese as a kids meal ENTREE option instead of just a side item? My son didn't want any of the kids meals entrees (hot dog, quesadilla, pulled pork, turkey breast) so he opted for a larger (pint-size) mac and cheese as his main dish. He devoured it and had leftovers for this mom later! $1 extra for a kid drink with fill-it-yourself stations. TIPS: (1) You'll need $2 toll if you're crossing the intercoastal bridge from I-95 (2) Take a few extra minutes to review the cheesecake selection near the front door. I wasn't prepared and we ordered a plain cheesecake (still tasty and not overly dense). Next time I'll want to try the lemon coconut or red velvet cheesecake. I was too full to order a second slice! While that's common in any fast food spot, there's usually a wall or some kind of divider separating the order counter and bathroom hallway. Pretty great surprise to find this delicious barbecue in the middle of nowhere. We tried the brisket, pulled pork, ribs, burnt ends. All very edible. In town for the week and happened upon this hidden gem for dinner on a Thursday night. Food is downright mouthwatering. This is some of the best bbq I've had outside of Charleston, SC. Great fish camp with big open dining area also screened in. Quick ordering process food came out in less than 10 minutes for 7 people. Highly recommend the St Louis ribs, collards and macaroni salad! Pulled pork was incredible. Brisket and macaroni were good but average. The star of the show for me was the collards. Best I've EVER had. Highly recommend this place! I am a fan of BBQ. Actually, I'd call myself a BBQ snob. With that being said, these ribs are in the top three I've ever had. Holy cow they are amazing! Don't sleep on them. St. Louis ribs all day. I also had the sausage, which was really good. That was the extent of the meat that we had. As far as the sides go, the mac & cheese and cucumber salad were ok. Fairly typical and a bit underseasoned, but the greens and cole slaw were tasty. Didn't try the other sides. Wonderful flavor to the greens though! Corn cake was good. We had a slice of the key lime cheesecake. They make a bunch of different cheesecakes in house. We enjoyed it. Beautiful views from the patio! The sauces are great! Great food and wonderful staff. Stopped in on our way home from a weekend in St. Augustine. Ordered the ribs and adult grilled cheese. Both were great along with the side of green beans and baked beans. The view from the screened porch was incredible! I ordered a schöfferhofer And received a free koozie! I was also given a free shirt just for ordering the beer. Staff were more than helpful. They even went out of the way to give us some sauce when we asked to purchase some that they didn't have available for sale. We will definitely stop back in on our next trip! read more

Pleasantly surprised by this BBQ venue. The aroma of smoke brought us in. The Louisiana BBQ ribs fell off the bone. The sauce was perfect. Not too sweet and not dripping in sauce. The cucumber salad was yummy. The mashed sweet potatoes were a little odd looking since they were dark brown. They Tatar's more like sweet potato pie but we're a group favorite. The brisket was very moist. The sauerkraut had caraway seeds but was pleasant. The beet salad was delicious. The place is very casual but cozy. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Seems like the perfect stop for the numerous boater socking nearby. The staff was patient and pleasant. When in the area I would definitely come back here and would recommend this place if you are craving decent BBQ. The sides are a little small that come with the dishes. Stopped by this BBQ joint while in town with the dogs for the afternoon. We were able to sit outside and pick up lunch. I ordered the smoked turkey lunch with Mac and cheese and cucumber salad. Turkey was delicious and they provide plenty and the Mac and cheese is a MUST side. However, cucumber salad was rather bland so would try something different. Husband got the beef brisket which was delicious and almost like a roast super tender. With Mac and cheese and the mashed yams which was like dessert. Next time I'd other to go and sit over in the park area if we had more time. Gorgeous views of the intracoastal. 4 stars because inside staff was a bit unwelcoming, but found a waitress who was very accommodating (and that disappointing cucumber salad). read more

I had stopped by ahead and made the food reservation and was very pleased that the restaurant was able to accommodate my needs. The portions were generous and as we chose the Brisket which was tender and the turkey which was gobbled so quick I didn't get any and of course the Ribs which where a favorite. Great place to park and ride the bike trails across the street. After that enjoy some bbq and beer (a great beer selection) while enjoying the views of the river on the screened in porch out back. I had a bbq sandwhich which was stuffed with delicious pork and my hubby had the pork burrito with coleslaw and baked beans in it. Hand washing station on the porch. Having all the condiments readily available for guests was nice. We both loved it and you can't beat the atmosphere.
