My family went to Captain Steve's in honor of my moms birthday and it didn't disappoint. It's has typical seafood restaurant look and feel. The service was excellent. I believe the waiters name was Kaden and he did a superb job of getting our orders correct, keeping our glasses full and just overall was such a pleasant young man. It did take awhile to get the food but we were having such a nice time as a family that we didn't mind. Everyone was satisfied with their food. This was my first experience at Captain Steve's. There was absolutely no wait; though I was warned it can get busy. The waitress, Cheryl, was awesome. She was friendly and attentive the entire visit. The best whole flounder in the Concord area! I easily eat off the fish for two meals and it's still crispy and delicious. The service is quick and ordering is pretty straightforward. They don't do a lot of substituting items and I was told they do not because it would make them less efficient. It works for them and it works for me too. They have a great product so need to change it. The ambiance is always busy, especially on Sundays, but it's totally worth the wait time for fresh food. read more

I recently visited Captain Steve's Seafood, opting for the To Go entrance and ordering the flounder filet platter for $16.99. I was impressed with the generous portion size and found both the fish and hush puppies to be well-prepared and not excessively oily and no disgusting silvery skin peeking through to literally turn my sensitive stomach. The seasoning was bland. If you don't dip each bite in Tartar sauce there isn't a lot of flavor, at all. I would have loved a lemon wedge. I couldn't pass up the lovely desserts, so I tried the Tuxedo Cake for $5.99. The chocolate flavor was excellent, although I had anticipated a firmer more cheesecake like crust. My wait time was approximately 10 minutes, and the counter attendant was efficient. The ambiance is blah. Blue paint and a vaguely nautical tone. No bells and whistles, just there. The increasing tip pressure, particularly for take-out orders, has become very frustrating. This really detracts from the experience and I wonder if I don't tip, will they do something bad to my food? My concerns regarding the tipping dynamic are part of a larger issue. This place is just jumping on an already crowded bandwagon. Captain Steve's offers food at a reasonable price, and the service was prompt. read more

We were visiting the area for a few days and this place was recommended by a family member. We all met there and were seated quickly. Our server was quite gregarious, efficient and attentive. He kept our glasses full and managed our table of 7 with no difficulty. The meal started with the delivery of baskets of mini hushpuppies to the table while we waited for our orders to be filled. A few minutes later, the salads arrived. When the main orders arrived, I was amazed at the portion sizes! We ordered burgers, catfish, blacken salmon and perch. All of the food was delicious! it was well seasoned, without being overly salty. The fried fish had a flaky crust and was cooked perfectly. the blackened salmon was tender and good. I would have preferred a bit more blackening but I like it spicy. Did I mention the portions were huge? I have a large appetite and I was not able to finish all of my food, something that almost never happens. As we finished our meal and prepared to go, the server offered drinks to go. That was nice. Well done. If I'm ever back in the area, this will definitely be on my list of places to revisit. read more

The stuffed flounder was said to be over seasoned the potato and collards were good. The meals are way too big i order grilled for light meal it was good. They provide you with a substantial amount of food and I can almost guarantee you're going to ask for a box as soon as they put your plate down and as if you need anything else! While the food is great, just an FYI, everyone knows that. So, be prepared to bring an appetite but also your patience because it will be busy. Wanted some seafood and my coworker recommended this place! And boy am I happy I tried it. Ordered pick up, during lunch they have the captain's platter for only $20, and you get a ton of food. It comes with a flounder filet, fried oysters, fried scallops, jumbo shrimp, baby shrimp, and deviled crab along with hush puppies. I had the coleslaw and fries as my sides. Let me tell ya this was able to feed two people with some left overs for the next day. Very satisfied with my food and will def be back to try something else. P.S. Get the chocolate cake! read more

Last Thursday, my co worker and I had a chance to dine in at this restaurant. We have become a fan of the delicious drinks and food served hot from the grill! The waitor (Reggie) was fantastic! Lunch on a Saturday afternoon exceeded my expectation. The parking lot was full. To my surprise we did not have to wait. Our server was busy! Been eating here for years and has always been very good. On 9-12-25 we went to eat there and noticed no tarter sauce or cocktail sauce on the table. Instead the waiter brought small individual cups of sauce to the table. They apparently changed the recipe for the tarter sauce and it was nasty. Captain Steve's is one of my go to restaurants for fried seafood. I've been coming here for years. They never disappoint. It's a family owned restaurant and they have one other location in Charlotte. The restaurant is always packed, but you never have to wait an extremely long time. There is a ton of seating and they cater to larger parties. It's very family friendly and a great spot to have a birthday dinner. They give you a ton of food, that taste good and won't break the bank. Always a lot of food! My party was not able to finish our plates. We were really full from eating too many hush puppies as we waited for our food. The food took a really long time to get to us. The restaurant was not even crowded. There was plenty of seating available for a Sunday afternoon. Our server was very helpful with our drinks and hush puppies. After eating lunch yesterday at this restaurant on April 9, 2026, and asking for my military discount and providing my identification as provide a week prior with no problem. But yesterday the manager Louie came to the table and was rude and aggressive toward me as he stated, "they do not give discount on lunch menu". When I told him I has receive one during the same time and location the previous week he became louder and stated, you shouldn't have", then walked off. When he left, I was still appalled at the way he addressed me. I soon left the table and ask the hostess for manager Louie again. When he reached me, I ask him could we step away from crowd of customers and informed him I was a disabled veteran and felt that he was loud and rude toward me as other customers were looking as his voice was elevated, he stated, "I talk to all my people like that". I responded, "I am not one of your people, I am a paying customer". He walked away never apologizing for his behavior or rudeness toward me. As a retired, disabled female veteran I have never felt so disrespected and unvalued in an establishment as a paying customer and veteran which served this country so proudly. read more

I was in Charlotte NC visiting family so we decided to come to Captain Steve's for dinner. I'm so glad that I was taken to this restaurant because the food was excellent! I only wish there was a Captain Steve's in San Diego California where I live before I would be there a few times a week. I had the peppered flounder, baked potatoe, Cole slaw, fried shrimp, hush puppies with honey butter and a sweet tea. There was so much food on my plate I had to take half of it back to my hotel. Our waiter was so nice and he explained everything I needed to know especially Chillwine! I had never heard of it but I saw it on the menu under beverages. The restaurant had very nice decor and there was no wait time. We were seated as soon as we walked in on a Wednesday afternoon. When I return to Charlotte I will definitely be coming back to Captain Steve's! Excellent service, ambiance and true southern hospitality! read more

I stopped here to grab some dinner while in the area. I've eaten the food here some years back, when they were previously Captain Galley's. So I decided to try them out again and they were still good. I opted for the fried jumbo shrimp and salt and pepper catfish strips, both of which were really good! I called in my order ahead of time, with only 10 minutes left to spare before they closed. Upon arrival within that 10 minute window, I did have to wait about 20 minutes for my food, but it wasn't a biggie. Captain Steve's is located on Highway 49 in Harrisburg. They have a huge parking lot, so there are no parking issues at all. I have even noticed the parking lot be full on other days when passing by, but it never seems seemed that it was an issue, but rather a positive thing. That means that the food and service are good, to have people coming back for more! As I waited for my food, many others came in to place an order, only to be told they were no longer accepting orders. Many people were upset, because they were getting no seafood that day! LOL! (Glad I called mine I earlier!) The staff was friendly and greeted me upon arrival to the ToGo! area, in the rear of the restaurant and parking lot. Although my food was not yet ready at the time, they did check in with me and provide an update that it was being prepared. I will definitely check them out again in the future and try another dish on the menu. read more

So let me go ahead and get the bad out the way. The jumbo shrimp, although they were hot and fresh, they were not seasoned at all. You could have at least salt babe'd them a little bit. Everything else was awesome. The hush puppies was fried just right. Not too hard not too soft. You can actually taste the salt and pepper flavoring in the batter for the fish. I was full at this point so I didn't get around to eating my baked potato, but hey you can't really mess up a baked potato.
