Plenty of parking and a decent size dining room. I got a slice of cheese pizza and a pizza roll with a side of coke for $8. I decided to eat it there, they brought it over to me and let me enjoy my lunch trusting i'd pay afterwards. They had some old soccer game on, but at least it gave some ambiance with the TV on. I enjoy greek pizza, so I would definitely come back to build my own or get one of their specialties. The subs sounded good too. I felt like the guys were nice to me, one was on the phone with a personal call you could hear but I didn't mind. They did take card. Wish I had cash on me though. My con was the pizza roll, this was my first time i've ever had one and if that's how they taste I don't see myself ordering more in the future. Weird it comes with duck sauce?! read more

Called to place an order and the guy over the phone legit yelled at me. Told him I wanted a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with American cheese and he said "grilled? What do you mean." I said "like melted on the grill." With so much attitude, he said "SO YOU MEAN TOASTED." Then yelled and said "IS THAT IT?" Needless to say, I will not be returning. No way to treat customers over the phone. read more

I went in there for a Pepperoni pizza I picked up the pizza and it was warm not hot and the pizza was black (burnt) on the bottom and the pepperoni was partially burnt and tasted BAD ! Won't be back to captains after a recent incident. Called and ordered a chicken caesar wrap with fried chicken for delivery. To prevent any mistakes, I specifically repeated fried chicken numerous times on the phone. Upon receiving my food, I found that the chicken inside the wrap was grilled. A simple mistake. I politely called the restaurant to inform them of their mistake and to possibly send over the correct wrap. The same man who originally took the order was now arguing with me that the chicken was in fact fried. I was shocked as I steered down at the grilled chicken in the wrap. He couldn't comprehend the fact that he was wrong. He told me he knew it was fried since he made it but the sad reality was that he did not know. A situation like this shouldn't call for any sort of escalation but the man was standing firm on his beliefs. After being hung up on numerous times, I was finally able to reach a more reasonable individual. It would make sense after such frustration to request a full refund, however, I only requested the wrap to be credited. I'd like to add that I've never had an issue with the food here. However, I can't rationally return to a business that treats their customers with such bitter disrespect. read more

Nice family owned business with good basic pizza food. Good Gyro! Quick and good slices. Post Joe Biden bad news- you have no idea now what you are paying- menu prices not set anymore. My 8.95 posted gyro stated price was 12.50 give or take. I appreciate the inflation but let's face it the meat in it is about 3/4 oz cost per pond at most 8-10$ not a fair price bump. Post the prices! Don't just state they are more- Have roast beef available (not always there). May be eating at home more : ( sad. read more

Don't understand other reviews, but I had a great experience. Ordered the steak tip bomb calzone and it was great. Very flavorful and perfectly cooked. Nice banter in the place while waiting. Many seemed on 1st name basis. read more

The owner of this place, he's this Greek guy, is extremely rude and a total hothead. I went in to order a pizza and I needed to get my card out of my wallet, with no patience, he screams at the top of his lungs "YOU GONNA PAY OR NOT!?" I handed him my card, he aggressively swipes it and yells "Decline! No good!" And then I handed him my other card which then worked. Absolutely pathetic. Not to mention my pizza was absolutely disgusting. I will never be returning. Ever. read more

Been here a bunch of times when I lived near it. Was in the area again and craving a roast beef. Very disappointed. The roll looked/felt like it was toasted and then refrigerated. Very odd. read more

The steak and cheese calzone was completely burnt as were the fries. Do not recommend.

This is what Captain's Pizza sold me today as a "toasted" turkey sub. Unfortunately, I had Zoom meetings starting less than 20 mins after I got home, so I couldn't take it back and just ate the turkey inside with fork and knife. How someone would package this burnt sandwich and hand it to an unsuspecting customer is beyond me. read more

Went here for the first time tonight to give it a try since it's the closest pizza place to where I live. Have to say that it's pretty good pizza. I found it interesting the way the pizza is cut. Overall, good place to get a quick bite or to grab dinner from. read more

Used to come here all the time because their food was fairly good. Then i stopped because they fell off. Just became a disappointment spending my money here. Well im still disappointed. Steak and cheese without cheese? Not a steak and cheese. Its just shaved steak on bread. But what really gets me? These fries!! Fries are the simplest food to make and yet my fries came soggy and just plain nasty. Im done here. read more

Absolutely AWEFUL phone service, extremely rude. I ordered a chicken ceasar salad and when I went to pick it up, the guy thought I had said just a normal one. Since it was busy, I was fine with it. The older man that had answered the phone gave a huge attitude and came off as an extremely mean owner. I feel bad for the employees... who have to deal with him. When I got home and opened the salad, it had JUST chopped romaine lettuce in the container with some cheese sprinkled on it. There were no croutons. The pita bread was even in the original bag that they get their pita bread from.... if I wanted some lettuce with some cheese... I would've bought a thing of romaine lettuce from the store. read more

They don't even make their sandwiches as described in the menu. Bought my last sandwich from them this past weekend, after 20 years. Don't know what has changed there but it's been going down hill the last couple of months. read more

Cheese pizza like any other Greek pizza was very salty. Steak tips had strange taste and I had throw all of it to trash. Chicken kabob roll up was filled with too much sauce inside the bread. Worst food I had in long time. This was my first and last trip to this place. I wasted $30 for high salty fatty food. I could bought the best steak cut from supermarket and make it myself. It seems people in this country don't know what is the real food. Kids working there prepare food with gloves and take your money with same gloves. What is the point ? Not only bad food but not clean either. Stay away. read more

This place is terrible. They used to be ok, but lately, they are slacking. Ordered a meatball sub. Guy says 15 min. I pick it up, go home, open it up and it's meatloaf. I call back and say this is meatloaf, not meatball. He says we don't sell meatball subs. I said I Ordered a meatball and you said ok. He says 33 years, never had meatball sub. I said well it's on your menu. Says the owners didn't change the menu.I call back and order a chicken parm sub with American cheese, toasted. He says 10 min. I get it home and my daughter starts eating it and half way through, she starts taking out the chicken. I said what are you doing? She said she's taking the hot peppers out. I said hot peppers? I never asked for hot peppers. They are jerks. I think they purposely did this. read more

Been eating Captains since childhood and I will tell you they are consistent and delicious. I've had almost all of the hot subs, calzones, and a few of the cold subs. My all time favorite is the chicken salad sub. This is a must if you are a chicken salad fan. Huge portions of chicken salad, yummy fixins, and good rolls. Nothing fancy, just awesome. A large sub can feed you for two days unless you are a monster eater. Place is family run and keeps a no frills attitude. Never change Captains! read more

Captain Pizza - $8 Lg. Chicken Salad Sub and $6 Sm. Chicken Salad sub. Loaded with chicken. My favorite! Great value! - Pizza Near Me - North Reading, Massachusetts

Ordered 2 subs and an order of fried ravioli, had a rude greek or italian guy answer the phone who wouldnt listen correctly!! Its not hard to listen and make a teriyaki steak and cheese with extra extra extra cheese mixed in, a chicken cutlet parmesan with extra sauce. Both subs were wrong, chicken cutlet had LIGHT sauce and the steak and cheese had LIGHT cheese and both had little flavor. Both service and quality is GONE from captains. DO NOT order from here. Instead go to Andrea's, Mario's, Dascoli(if they're open) or the Hornets Nest they listen and provide well above and beyond service read more

Got a steak bomb here, it was mashed up like dog food other subs are ok but stay away from steak bombs!

I have used Captain Pizza in the last few weeks for just myself and the gentleman that I had on the phone was easy to understand and very helpful. Tonight however, I called for my usual small sub for delivery and the man I spoke with was very rude and when he told me that I had to buy something more than the sub (this was the first time this ever happened), I said I would call some place else and that I never had problems with Captain Pizza before, he said "good call someone else" I was shocked! Their loss! read more

The food here looked good however I WILL NEVER COME BACK after a few instances of my experience. First the lack of professionalism from what seemed to be the owner! He was pushing us out of the restaurant like my order was of enough value to his restaurant! Secondly the way in which he was speaking to his employees Was completely appalling. Lastly he was not wearing his mask as he instructs any consumer walking into his restaurant to be wearing it, the mask was barely covering his top lip. Knowing the level of positive cases of COVID he will be the one passing the virus on to others. Board of health will be contacted in the morning. read more

Would give less than 1 star if I could. My husband and I ordered "boneless buffalo wings" and received wings (with bones) without buffalo on them. When we called and spoke to the owner, we were told we would need to pay for the exchange and that we were incorrect there was no buffalo sauce on the wings.... did not get to finish the conversation because it was too insulting. I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment before. Pizza is ok, incompetence and accusations are not acceptable. Will never be back. read more

Been there for takeout about 5 times. Last 3 times They charged more and more for the same item , The item was a steak sub . When I asked why it was 2.00 more than the menu the older man said the menu was wrong, do not go by the menu prices. I will not go back. No way to treat any customer . Last and final visit I was charged 27.00 for 2 pepper steak subs . I was shocked when I looked at my discover card read more

Found a literal centipede in a tuna sandwich. When I called to let them know, they got angry at me and hung up. This place is absolutely filthy and disgusting and the owners are no better. I still prefer, and haven't really found a good NY style pie (haven't been to HIFi pizza in cambridge in such a long time I forgot if it was as good or not). Captain Pizza is one of the three shops I regularly go to for pizza (mario's, andrea's being the others). It is to my taste, a combination of NY style and Greek, with a lighter yeast taste of traditional greek. I like both types. The sauce is quite good. read more

I think Captain's pizza has quality pizza. I have been there a couple times and both times the staff was great. Hot sauce chicken pizza is great. All their food is real good. The best? Maybe not but I eat there maybe 3times a week so they are doing something correct. I dunno what the problem was with the steak and cheese in the other review but they are REAL GOOD there. Shaved nicely. read more

Ever since I was a kid, this has been my family's go-to pizza place. That adds up to a lot of years of Captain Pizza. Granted, all the kids have grown up and moved on, but it's still nice once and a while to visit the folks and grab a Captain's pie. You can argue for or against the square cut as opposed to the traditional cut, but those little corners of mostly crust created by the square cut are always the first to disappear out of the box. Me? I go straight for the center, crust free pieces. So there's something for everyone. read more

Once again Captains refuses to deliver during their published business hours. All I wanted to do was give you my money. Lazy.

We get pizza from Captain delivered about twice a month, although the hubby would eat it every day if I let him. We like their chicken wings which sometimes have hot sauce on the side and sometimes don't, regardless of whether you ask or not :) They are very crunchy on the outside but properly cooked inside, probably a frozen purchase from a vendor but it doesn't matter. Note they are NOT Buffalo wings as they do have a batter-type coating. The pizza is consistently good and we do not find it at all greasy. It's a fairly thick crust but not too chewy or heavy. Toppings are generous; we usually get a pepperoni and/or sausage and mushroom but sometimes go with the Greek or another style. We enjoy an occasional calzone or sub which are not huge but a good value for the money. The salads are nothing impressive but we find that is the case with most pizza joints. Delivery is usually pretty quick and the pizza always arrives hot. read more

As a local corner pizza/sub shop, Captain Famous Pizza (no, not captain's famous, "Captain Famous", like "Lance Corporal Amazing") is a winner. The subs are okay, especially the steak-and-cheese family. The pastas and salads are not the highlight, but their onion rings are a greasy delight. The pizza oven stays open later than grill, and features pretty thin crust with a sauce that seems to get raves from most of our friends that try it for the first time. The large pizzas are cut into squares instead of slices, unless requested otherwise. The staff are friendly and funny with the regulars, and the service is fast. In hundreds of takeout orders, I've never once had them lose an order on me. Haven't done delivery too often, but when I have it's been reasonably speedy. If you want to ditch the chains and go with the local pizza guy, make Captain's your local spot. read more

Ordered Food at 6:05pm, by 7:30pm it was still not here. We are 1/2 mile from the place! We called, complained about the time, and were brushed off. Food was cold by the time it FINALLY got here at 8:30 and we were not offered any sort of discount. read more

Great pizza! I'm not a vegetarian but I typically get the mushroom and spinach toppings and it's a really good pizza. I didn't give it a five because the parking lot next to the convenience store is a bit busy but it's worth the extra concentration to avoid a crash. read more

My family has been a customer of Captain Pizza since the 1970s, and they have consistently provided excellent and inexpensive food, especially their pizza, although their calzones and subs are also recommended. I consider it the best pizza shop in the Andover area (my home base). Recommended items: Any of the pizza, although my favorites are the cheese, pepperoni, and bacon pizzas. The chicken parmagiano calzone is outstanding. Subs: the Italian, chicken cutlet, and chicken finger. Mostly a take-out business, but there are limited booths. read more

Not good. Just. Not good. Steak and Cheese tastes like they just pulled it out of a freezer and microwaved it. Pizza is cut into squares instead of triangles by default, something I hate, and most of the people I talk to hate also. And the pizza isn't really anything spectacular, either. read more

They charge much more than their advertised menu prices - Upon ordering 2 salads on menu totaling $22.40 - they charge me $28.55. 25% more and when asked about this they claim they add surcharges for lettuce and cheese? The only good thing about that place is pizza. It's alright. The owners there suck. They don't care about quality too much. The bread is rarely fresh and the salads... if the lettuce starts getting brown they show their generosity by giving those salads away "on the house". read more

I gave them a second chance thinking their submarine sandwiches might be better than the pizza. It was fair, thus the 3 star rating. Service was mediocre, not even a slight smile to greet me. The sub bread was soft but the ingredients were skimpy. The ham was low quality in my American. While I'm glad this experience was better than 1 star, it'll take 4 stars for me to become a regular anywhere. read more

Stay away. The owner is so rude and insulting. Created a scene with me in front of 3 different customers there to pick up their orders. I had come back with an order that was made wrong and he threw the pizza box across the counter and yelled "what am I supposed to do with this order now? " and began screaming at me and waving his arms all around and got his 2 employees involved to team up on me. I asked for a credit on my credit card because I was afraid if he remade the order correctly he or his staff would probably spit in the food. He didn't give me a credit on my credit card but took cash and threw it at me and thew the pizza box. I was so embarrassed. Never go there. Rudest owner.
