Chicken: Bone in dark meat 8 piece. The flavor was definitely there. Perfectly cooked and Juicy. Definitely worthy contender of the ones we regularly frequent. Okra: it's alright. Batter was good, but the vegetable is a bit mushy. I didn't care much for it. The place was nice and clean when I walked in to pick up my to go order. Lots of desserts and some sides on display. my Total for my bill on 3/14/25 was 28.95 I paid with my debt card once I got home to check my balance on my card I see a charge from Captio Jays for 34.21 cent 5.72 more than what my bill was I called to talk with the manager she was to buisy to take my call and asked if I could call back tomorrow. They have people to sit there drive thru and wait for their food for half an hour while other people is in the back waiting for their food that's already done. They don't let nobody on the inside. Our first ever visit to this local chain with 20 locations and growing. Really nice inside dining area and clean restrooms n a drive thru window. Was definitely impressed by the Cornmeal Catfish with Whole Chicken Wings dusted with Lemon Pepper. She had a pair of really good Chicken Breast. Delicious Fries n Hush puppies spot on Wonderful. Really great Biscuits n Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with Cheddar Cheese. Fast friendly service at counter, good prices and great food we going back soon for more. Wanted to give this place a try and finally did. Had the number 11, 6 large shrimp and 2 catfish combo. Includes fries, bread, and drink. I also had a order of hush puppies. Everything was pretty good for almost $20.00. It was really filling too. Would go back here again for sure . read more

One person working the front- taking orders, doing drive up, taking phone orders, and packing food from the kitchen pass. I waited 20 minutes for one combo meal. She told me the kitchen was slow because the health inspector was there. Then she proceeded to say they didn't have coleslaw so she substituted potato salad- to go with fries! (Good thing I like potatoes.) I picked feathers off one of the wings (guess the health inspector missed that). The lemon seasoning gave the only flavor to the chicken, though it was hot and very juicy. Fries were good. Didn't even bother with the potato salad. I did leave before finishing my meal since a homeless person reeking of urine entered the establishment and was yelling and trying to get my attention. At no point did any management try to ask him to leave. Bottom line- long wait for bland food and severely understaffed. I don't need to hurry back. read more

This was my first ever visit to Captain Jay's and it was a so-so experience I got the number 1 combo, a 3 piece order of whole wings, and a small order of hush puppies. The positives first. The guy who took my order was nice and helpful. They fries were abundant and tasty, the coleslaw was fantastic, the lemon pepper seasoning they offer is yummy, and the hush puppies weren't horrible. Now, the negatives. The portions of everything else was skimpy. Two small fillets of cod, breaded in what seems to be a corn meal breading. The flavor was bland other than the lemon pepper seasoning, but that was on the outside. And honestly, I prefer a battered cod. That's just me. For the price I paid for the combo, you should at least get three small fillets. The side of coleslaw was so small, I though it was a small side of tartar sauce. Really disappointing, considering it may have been the tastiest part of the meal. The hus puppies tasted ok, but they were small and super dense. They could do with a bit of leavening. The wings didn't suck, but they were smallish and not really impressive in the taste department. All in all, I have to say I was disappointed. They have a pretty extensive menu, and maybe they have better options, but I'm not sure I would return. I would have been happier if I had just went down the street to Long John Silver's. read more

This location is the worst Captain Jay's I've been to. The food was cooked too fast crispy so of and dark in color outside and undercooked batter on the inside. The girl that took my order asked me 3 times if I wanted lemon pepper. There are too many kids in this location and not enough adults that care about the business or the quality of the food. Miss. Demya's work ethic is incredibly remarkable!!! She was running the front counter, taking phone orders, packing the food orders, cleaning when possible or necessary. All the while keeping a smile on her face. Miss Demya's positive vibe was MOST DEFINITELY. SUPER contagious throughout the whole establishment. Beyond refreshing!!! Unfortunately the food was not on point. Thus the reason I gave 3 stars instead of 5 stars. I order lunch or dinner for the crew 2 - 3 Time's a month. The perch was cooked hard which is how I usually like my fish cooked, but it was too hard and the seasoning was bland. The shrimp was seasoned pretty good. I stopped in to Captain Jay's at lunchtime. I went thru the drive thru and ordered the cod combo. I pulled up to the window, paid, and was handed my drink. I then waited 9 minutes to receive my food. I watched employees standing around, one was leaning against the wall in the drive thru. another was drinking something out of a paper cup. Meanwhile, cars were lined up behind me waiting. This was at 1 pm, primetime for the lunch rush and was no sense of urgency and no food prepared because the employee told me they were waiting for the fish as she handed me the bag of food. The fish was a rectangle (2) and very light in color. I have had much better fish at any coney island. The fries were ok but nothing special. I won't return. read more

However they are now refusing to even discuss any of their inhouse issues or take care of them without dealing with DoorDash.
