Car broke down in Utica, called insurance and they suggested this company. Waited for over 1.5 hrs only to be canceled on and had to get a new towing company. Phone number never picked up when calling. Really disappointed and would not suggest this company. AAA arranged Captain Hook towing when my son's car would not start at his school campus. After a 2 hour wait they arrived with a flat bed truck instead of a wheel lift even though wheel lift was specified. The driver said he would send the wheel lift truck back as it was near by. After a half hour wait we called AAA back only to find out that Captain Hook scheduled the wheel lift truck for 20 hours later! Hey Captain Hook- nobody wants to wait overnight in a parking lot for you to show up and do your job!!! Worst service I've ever seen. I've used Captain Hook Towing 3 times through AAA; twice for towing and once to jump start my car. Now I make sure to request them if I call AAA because they always arrive way quicker than other towing companies and the people are always so nice and helpful. My truck battery needed a jump at my apartment 2.5 miles away from their shop on a Thursday at 1:15am - it was 42 degrees, zero ice or snow on the ground and not a soul on the roads, AAA says this is the company they use for emergency service and they give a quote of 9.5 hours. I missed my next day on the job, as well as all my crew waiting on me. I guess they just needed their beauty sleep??? Their driver Phillip was absolutely fantastic, however their dispatch was completely ineffective. I waited over 4 and a half hours for a tire change. I was completely understanding with the initial estimate of 75-140 minutes (it is winter in Michigan after all) however each call for updates I was told that it would be another hour & I was hung up on each and every time I called at the estimated arrival window. No just no do not use Captain Hook. They left my 20-year-old daughter stranded on the side of the road after towing her car away. Said they could not ride in the truck even though there was room. Left them to figure out how to get back to the garage. Why are you giving me attitude when you guys made a mistake? No sorry or nothing, couldn't even tell me where my car was, my mechanic found it for me. Recently used them through liberty mutual insurance. Once I seen who the insurance choose I looked them up, and not gonna lie got a little worried. But good news I got text quoting 80-120 mins and for Saturday night that made sense. After about 30 mins I got a call to confirm everything for the tow and 5 mins after got a another call he was on his way. About 10-15 mins later he arrived! Was here 2 minutes tops trying to jump my car pumping the hell out of my gas pedal which you are not supposed to do on a fuel injection engine. We called once and an Indian lady with very broken English picked up, we then got hung up on after trying to explain our situation, we then called again and she told us 75-80 more minutes and could not give us a reason why then hung up the phone, we called again to confirm the time and try to get everything figured out and she told us it would be "about 30 minutes but maybe a hour or less" after being hung up on multiple times and dealing with a rude lady we ended up calling a different customer service number and finally got answers with a lady telling us 40 more minutes. Absolutely awfu! My daughters tierod snapped as she was making a turn. the driver showed up late, then dragged the front end instead of lifting then pulling it onto the flat bad. They cracked her rim and snapped the front axle in the process. $6000 in damage and when they were contacted I was asked to call back in 15 minutes by the manager because he was busy. when I did call back they gave me the run around. Whoever answers the phone then had the driver get on the phone with him and both argued with me then hung up on me. They then called me back 2 minutes later being rude still refusing to let me speak with the manager or owner.
