    Might batter, still pink!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Undercooked fish (pink in the middle, mushy batter!) was served to my mother at Winchester KY Captain D's. Do NOT take your loved ones there to eat! I called and spoke to the GM, who informed me that they only check food temps TWICE A DAY! AND he LIED to me and said "they took care of my mother and gave her extra fish" which did NOT happen! She was also refused a refund by the cashier, and the GM never even came out to speak with my mom. Under cooked fish is as dangerous as undercooked chicken! Especially in high risk groups such as my mother who is on chemo shots. It runs the risk of Vibrio, Salmonella, Shigella, Listeria, Campylobacter, Ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP), and parasites! This is a VERY serious issue that they tried sweeping under the rug. As someone who manages a restaurant, is ServSafe certified with a degree in Culinary Arts, and has worked in the food industry since 2015, I will NOT be silent about the issue, ESPECIALLY if she gets sick from their gross negligence!

Food was hot and service were really good. The drive-thru service was quicker than usual.

I started doing my reviews in this order: The Appeal…read moreThe Bad (?) The Good I consider myself some what of a seafood boil "snob" being that I lived in Las Vegas around some of the best restaurants in the world and have had seafood all over the country. There isn't any seafood in the small town I live in so every time I go out of town for work I stop to get seafood. The appeal of the Storming Crab: this place is located just down from the Fayette Mall which use to be a booming shopping center. The restaurant has a HUGE Fiberglass Crab on the outside of the building and hip graffiti painting outside. Inside the restaurant reminds you of being on a ship if it was autographed by everyone you know. The host was nice and so was my server who was super sweet. The Bad (?): I had been here a few times before and remember being disappointed because of the butter reminded me of the jug of melted popcorn butter instead of real melted butter. - However this time it didn't taste that way so I'm not sure if they changed it but it really won me back as a customer. The Good: Something I did find today that I have never found before is their seafood bread! I don't know what kind of witchcraft it is but it is one of the best things I've had. Think cheddar bay biscuits x100! Overall the Storming Crab is a solid choice. As someone who is a seafood person, if you get a boil, and know how to peel seafood, get the head ON shrimp vs. the head off- it should be fresher and more meat.

The waitress was very friendly and familiar with the menu. She explained everything and was very helpful. We ordered and the food was amazing. The spices were on point. Atmosphere was quite loud due to the acoustics and everything is hard surfaces. Including chairs. I like a comfortable chair instead of the 'we're going to make it so hard you won't out stay your welcome'. Service was very good and prices equally reasonable especially for the amount of food served. We weren't starving, but had a full to-go box between our two meals. The food was in the average category even though everything was well prepared and presented. (Hot/fresh). Just not a lot of flavor. Hush puppies decent but not much taste. Coconut fried shrimp about the same. Had to use the dipping sauce for flavor. Fries are fries. Cheese grits not very tasty and were bland sprinkled with a little cheese. Thicker than mortar! Key lime pie was excellent despite I'm not sure if they used key limes. Appears homemade with some actual zest on top. Although not 'limey' enough, good crust and custard base. Atmosphere-3. Food-3. Service-4. Value-4. I'd go back and probably try less fried food. Could be they haven't changed the oil frequently enough.

The staff were incredibly sweet and also very busy. They didn't have much time for check ins outside of taking orders and dropping off food. I got the spicy beef ramen and it was really good. I probably should've asked for light spicy but the spice was like the red pepper paste on top so it was possible not to mix it all in. It wasn't too spicy for me, but it definitely woke my sinuses up. The beef off the bone was awesome! The other beef style was fine. I really enjoyed the boba tea and it was refreshing paired with the spicy soup. The server recommended her favorite, honeydew, and I added strawberry boba. Overall delicious, quick stop!

Probably pretty good for around here but I've had some really amazing ramen in CA and it doesn't compare. The pork in the spicy ramen was ok, and the broth was flavorful. The bok Choy could have been charred and it would have been better. The sushi menu is extremely limited, and they didn't even have a spicy tuna roll and couldn't prepare one. That's a pretty basic tool to not offer. So I wanted to try and find a new spot, but this isn't hitting for me. The big ick for me was the flys. They were landing on our table and food and it was really gross.
