Food was hot and service were really good. The drive-thru service was quicker than usual.

Kind of always my fall back place. Fried fish or chicken. My favorite is always fried okra. The wife loves the cole slaw. This location can be hit or miss but for the most part it is good. read more

Ok.....it's Captain D's. But I've done this drive-thru three times over the last five months, and the quality is consistent. Service seems to be improved some. I like the competitor's fish and shrimp better, but I've been satisfied the last several visits. I appreciate the corn-on-the-cob and green beans options. They need to open the dining room. And bigger shrimp would help, but that's a corporate problem, not the local franchise. It's a good option for a quick fish fix. read more

This location's manager actually threatened to call the police on my husband because he demanded to get what he paid for. She called me rude because I was rightfully upset on the phone about having to go back in (after getting home) in an attempt to correct them after forgetting over half of our larger order. My husband caught part of their "mistake" before leaving the restaurant, but when he got home and I went through the food, there were two more items missing and part of another. I can clearly see why the employees are this poorly trained when the manager is this unprofessional and unapologetic for their mistake. I know people make mistakes but most will usually apologize and make it right. My husband did or said nothing whatsoever to warrant her threats. She is a pathetic excuse for a manager and I can only hope she takes a course in human decency. This manager doesn't deserve one star. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Undercooked fish (pink in the middle, mushy batter!) was served to my mother at Winchester KY Captain D's. Do NOT take your loved ones there to eat! I called and spoke to the GM, who informed me that they only check food temps TWICE A DAY! AND he LIED to me and said "they took care of my mother and gave her extra fish" which did NOT happen! She was also refused a refund by the cashier, and the GM never even came out to speak with my mom. Under cooked fish is as dangerous as undercooked chicken! Especially in high risk groups such as my mother who is on chemo shots. It runs the risk of Vibrio, Salmonella, Shigella, Listeria, Campylobacter, Ciguatera fish poisoning (CFP), and parasites! This is a VERY serious issue that they tried sweeping under the rug. As someone who manages a restaurant, is ServSafe certified with a degree in Culinary Arts, and has worked in the food industry since 2015, I will NOT be silent about the issue, ESPECIALLY if she gets sick from their gross negligence! read more

I like Captain D's and the last few locations l went too were nice and clean. This location needs serious help. It's a liability waiting to happen. Very nasty and dirty inside and the ceiling tiles are about to fall. Counted at least thirteen bad tiles and a few have been covered with a plastic bag to catch. The kitchen area is very dark and probably a mess. I was surprised it was actually very busy inside and these people must really love fish and don't care about the mess. The young lady at the cash register was nice and pleasant. I'm just shocked that the owners can't afford to at least fix the ceiling tiles? What else are they cutting corners on? The smell of old fish grease wafts through the air as you near this place. I would normally partake in Long Johns but haven't seemed to find one in this little town. I pulled up to the drive thur to grab my miss named "Fast Food" and got stuck in line for over 30 min. 30 MINUTES! 30 MINUTES to get something that is all thrown into the same deep frying and cooked in less than 3 minutes. WTF? Really? It was extremely slow. And so not worth the calories that day. I should have just drove off. I think they even deep fried the bag, it was covered in grease as well. I went threw drive threw ordered 10 piece family pack battered fish plus 4 extra pieces. I got home the fish had red veins and looked bloody inside. The hush puppies was doughy and raw the French fries was under cooked and just nasty. I called captain D'S and let them know the problems and the rude guy said I had bring every piece back. I explain I lived 15 miles from town and it would take a lot of gas to come back. He said well we can't get our money back sorry about your luck. I told him I write reviews on yelp and he replied he didn't care. So I hung up. I will never go back to Captain D'S in Winchester Ky. If they can't fix food right they don't need to be in business! Customers are always right and now that I've eat couple bites of everything I feel sick to my stomach. If I throw up I'm going get stomach pumped no telling what I just eat. Captain D'S used to be top restaurant but now they have got nasty sense the new owners took over. They want to charge extra just for sauce. They are rude and can't cook. Not great but not the worst. The only place in town to get fast food fish now that Long John Silver closed. The shrimp platter was good. Not a fan of fried okra and the fried hush puppies were missing something. Not all the items are fried, which is nice. The broiled fish was good. They also offer steamed vegetables too. Gets pretty busy on the weekends. read more

I ate there July 23,2018. Oh so bad. So greasy I couldn't eat it. Fish must have been setting awhile and the fries were soggy. I could squeeze the hush puppies and grease would drip out. This is a management issue. No quality control at this location. read more

This is probably the worst fast food experience I have ever had! The food was greasy, and frankly inedible. All fast good fish is greasy but this was beyond bad, and I was not able to finish my meal... I would not recommend this to anyone. read more

This place shouldn't even receive one star. The worst place ever. This place was out of French fries, green beans, Mac and cheese and didn't know where to find the key lime pie. Not great, but not bad either. It's hit or miss. The batter fried fish is ok sometimes, and sometimes, it's way over-cooked. I usually get the fish meal. The cole-slaw is decent in my opinion, & I normally don't touch slaw. Hushpuppies are usually way over-done. The fries are really bland with no taste. The catfish is really really good, best thing on their menu. Good seasoning, good texture. The wait time in line is REALLY long. Once I waited close to 20 minutes for one order. And then waited about 7 more minutes at the window. They need sp speed up service a bit. All in all it's an ok quick stop for some sea food, but you get what you pay for. read more

Very bad service ordered shrimp cashier rang up carb stuffed Tilapia than neither cashier nor the manager could change the order because I paid with a credit card. Crab topping was burnt and the Tilapia had gone bad. Wasn't offer anything from manager to resolve the issue. I asked for regional mamager's contact infromation was told to f off. Well I have eaten there several times. The building on the outside is dirty and a hole in the wall by the side of the building and the back door area is nasty. My complaint is as many times as I eaten there since being in town I pretty much order the same plate just might change side items. Every time I have eaten without asking they given me a senior discount. Today I ordered the same meal and the girl on the speaker said this food was already discounted. This is not the only restaurant of this company I have eaten at every time they have a discount without me asking. I know the times are bad the drive thru had one car in it. The place may be dirty around the outside the food is not bad. So Male or female manager you need to train you staff better the girl at the drive thru and you who every you are need to be fired. You just lost a customer that him and his room mate eat there several times a month. All this over discrimination of a senior citizen and poor training of your employees. Either offer the discount or do not train your staff all of them to treat the senior citizens the same every time they come in to buy food. I am asking anyone of any color or age to stop going to the Winchester Kentucky Captains D until they know how to treat customers. This discount may not be that much. But the principal is !!!!!!! You let good customers who will not be back for being Stupid and letting me drive off. Clean up the damn place also and fix the hole in the wall. Mcdonald kentucky Fried chicken even sonic had long lines at there restaurants and there staff are friendly to the customers. They are happy for us to come in and buy food. Fire the manager at Captains D and find one who respects the customers. I see why the drive thru line no one is in line.
