    3 piece fried fish plate

I haven't been to a Captain D's in quiet a while, but I was pleasantly surprised for it being fast food fried fish. The three piece fried fish meal was pretty decent. Fish was nice and crispy and had good flavor. Fries were good and the coleslaw was decent. Drinks don't come with their meals here and must be purchased separately. They have a plethora of different vegetables to pick from as sides here. Some of these are listed as "premium" and are an upcharge, but its a nice change from the fast-food scene. They also have several different dipping sauces to pick from on their cart...so there is a little something for everyone. Restaurant looked semi recently remodeled, was clean, and staff was friendly. Would return.

Captain D's was founded in 1969 in Donelson, Tennessee. The "D" in the name is the initial of the founder's last name, Ray Danner. In 2007, the restaurant received an award for for Best Menu Revamp. The Corinth location recently got a facelift and the food quality has improved quite a bit. I usually take advantage of their coupons that come in the mail. Their coupons can range from $1.50 off of a fish or chicken meal to $6.50 off of a family meal. Six months ago I used a couple coupons for a fish and chicken meal and the quality was so disgusting the discount couldn't make the food edible. I stopped clipping their coupons because I couldn't stomach the food. Recently a friend stopped in for a meal and told us they had done some improvements and cleaned up on the inside. My husband and I decided to bite the bullet and stop in to give them another chance. They serve the dine-in meals on heavy reusable plastic trays and you get to eat with real silverware. The quality has improved and the food is more flavorful and the fish isn't served in a pool of oil. The hushpuppies are being cooked through so the center isn't raw. The slaw still needs work, they changed from the original format that I enjoyed so much, it is chunky and diced now. I clipped a new batch of coupons to use over the next 30 days. If they don't maintain a decent amount of food quality I will update the review to reflect so. As for getting a great meal at a great value you can't beat this franchise for that, as you get a true meal with vegetable choices and their rice and baked fish and low carb menu items.

If you are a fan of British style fish and chips, rather than Tennessee River fried catfish style, this is the place for you. My wife was always a fan of their fish with a bit of malt vinegar. I always liked their slaw. Menu seems to be constantly changing except for their basic fish. Many people dine here with various coupons for specials.

My actual photo of my AWESOME meal all for $5.

Captain D's is the best place in town to get seafood. Great atmosphere. I always have great service here.

This is a great little restaurant off the beaten path.  I have heard of it for years but last night…read morewas my first experience.  The catfish and hushpuppies were great.  Hushpuppies were a little spicy with green flecks of Jalapeno.  Salad bar was small but everything was very good.  Others in our party had steaks and all declared them excellent.  Service was first class, fast and friendly.  We will return.   Bring cash, no credit cards, probably because your cell phone will hardly work, probably no electronic credit card machines either. You'll find plenty of local color here, one of the most interesting is that this is also the site of the community's post office.  You don't get much chances to dine in your local post office.  Might be a great idea nationally if you could replicate their fried catfish. Cell phone reception is pretty poor at this location so you better check your GPS and YELP before you get there as well.  You won't find much about Chewalla, TN, on Google but it has a lot of local history.  When the railroad through nearby Corinth came through around 1857, one of the stops along the way was at Chewalla near the border of Mississippi and Tennessee.  The Chewalla Road was an established trailway which extended back into the time when all of the area was Indian Territory.  It was the path for invading and retreating armies during the Civil War and a battle was fought nearby during this time period.   Sitting right beside the railroad is Jim's Steak and Fish, about a 20 minute leisurely drive from Corinth, MS.  The most direct route coming from nearby Corinth is directly out Wenasoga Road which follows the path of the former Chewalla Road. Address shows Ramer, Tennessee, but actual location is Chewalla, an unincorporated community South of Ramer and North of Corinth, well worth the trip if you can find it.

Food is great with size-able portions for sure. Great steaks and fish is what I've had there…read more Hush puppies are great and they are given as appetizers. The salad bar is splendid. The tea like country tea cold and smooth. I must say this place is one I can remark that you get your moneys worth in food. Service is good and they do a great job at moving customers in as quickly as possible by clearing used tables. The building is relatively small therefore there may be a slight wait but I assure you it will be worth it. Do yourself a huge favor and plan a meal here. You will not be disappointed. Country people with a country attitude friendly. On scale of 10 it's a 10 for sure.
