    cheese bacon chicken delux

bad burgers The venue is ok, close to the Dunnes Store where there is a huge free car park. Decoration is US style with lots of star pictures. Waitress was friendly but quite slow I was very disappointed by my burger. The fries were overcooked and the meat was dry and tasteless. Such a burger I could have done for less on my own at home ;-) Adding to this, the noise level is quite high in the evening and you might have kids running around.

    Good bar here!

Much more modern than the city centre counterpart. Very lively place with a cool bar. Service is always excellent here and there are endless deals and vouchers for meals. Very good choice of drinks on the menu too. The only issue is the food is not fantastic. It depends what you get maybe.. I had lasagne with baked potato- just about average. Burgers probably a safer bet. Meringue sundae for dessert is just fantastic though. Love the chewy bits! Good place for a lively night with a group, but maybe not if you on a date or really into your food..

Brownie is best thing ever!! My mouth is watering now writing this haha I don't know how they get it perfect but my GOD ITS THE BEAT THING EVER!

What do you want with your chips?

What do you want with your chips is the motto here. On Wednesday last I ordered something that wasn't with chips which was kind of difficult. I had the chicken wings with barbeque sauce which were ok and there was plenty in the portion to share with my daughter who left with a big red mouth! They had a special deal of two courses for €15 and while I didn't order anything from that others at my table did and they left stuffed! stuffed full of chips that is and huge burgers if you like that kind of thing. I also had a baked potato with my dish which was very nice and fluffy and it was nice to have a healthier option on the menu that wasn't a salad. I would prefer though if the baked potato was larger and could come as a main course rather than just a side dish as it was hard to order a main meal that wasn't the usually burger fare.

Cheeseburger, chips, drink & chicken wings from lunch menu all for €13

Captain Americas is a cookhouse & bar and they do what they do very well. It's the only cookhouse style restaurant in Dublin that I go back to again & again. They do offers if you're with O2 and have priority moments. They also have offers for students. Generally these offers are something like buy a main meal & get one free etc. I normally get their chicken fajitas which come out on a sizzling plate and are served with your choice of chips, baked potato or salad. It also comes with salsa, sour cream and guacamole. I normally get them with fries as their fries are really good. On my most recent trip I decided to try their lunch menu. You get to choose from 5 or 6 main options and again you get to choose baked potato, fries or salad to go with it & you also get your choice of a soft drink, bottle of beer or a glass of wine all for €10! That's excellent value. I went for a cheeseburger with fries and a diet coke. I also got a half portion of chicken wings for an extra €3 so in total it cost me €13 which you couldn't argue with. As usual the food was piping hot, the wings were very tasty (you can pick your choice of sauce). I went for hot sauce on mine and would've liked a bit more sauce with them but that was just a minor fault. My burger was very tasty but I felt it could do with some pickles on it. Pickles I know are divisive - you either love them or hate them. I'm in the 'love them' camp and in my opinion a burger isn't right without them! Again that's just down to preference and minor. Captains does be mental on weekends with families and kids. It's a firm favourite for birthday parties and it's easy to understand why. Nearly every time I go here 'Happy Birthday' is heard at a nearby table. I try to avoid it at weekends because it gets so busy. You get better specials during the week anyway. Their staff are always friendly even though they seem to be a bit stretched- I always get the impression that the place is a bit understaffed and they're under pressure. All credit to them for still remaining courteous & maintaining a good level of service. I'd definitely recommend captains. Good burgers, great chips, fabulous fajitas, impressive special offers and their chilli is probably the second best in Dublin after my own homemade chilli!

Cajun chicken burger & sweet potato fries... Nom!

Gone here a few times for team lunches with work. Have also been a couple of times for cocktails after work :) They do a lunch special which is €9.95 for a burger and a drink. I always go for the Cajun chicken burger and that usually comes with fries or a salad. Today I substituted for sweet potato fries - these were v well cooked! Huge portions, decent service and the cocktails are always good. There is a TGIs not too far away but you should try here if you're looking for a slight change...!

What a huge disappointment and the management is terrible! The service was very slow, our burgers did not have the ingredients listed on the menu and when we asked for a substitute we were charged €2.50 for each substitute for ingredients they were out of! We asked for extra pickles for each of our 3 kids and we're not told we were bring charge €2.50 for each set of extra pickles. Our bill was presented at €68 but when we went to pay the manager up charged us for the pickles and jalapeños so we were surprised at the register when she said the bill was actually €76 The service was slow and our server never mentioned we would be charged extra - They brought the children's dessert milk shakes at the beginning of the meal before the food was ever delivered so they were quite runny and melted by the time the children got served and got to eat! The manager had a nasty attitude when telling us we had to pay for the extras as though we knew we were being charge, and we did not! The server did not tell us that. Terrible experience and it will be a while before we ever go back

Ate here a while ago, and forgot to complete my review. It is a bit outdated, but still helpful to…read moresome I hope. The Greenhouse seems to be the "it" restaurant in Dublin at the moment. There has been much fanfare with the opening of the restaurant, and its chef, Mikael Viljanen. Although only opened for several months, many are anticipating a Michelin Star from The Greenhouse. Unfortunately, The Greenhouse did not get a Michelin start this year, but they are definitely headed in the right direction. Chef Viljanen is very creative and many of the dishes have a molecular gastronomy spin on them. The restaurant is extremely small, only 40 seats. Eating at The Greenhouse is more of an experience, so they won't rush you out the door trying to turn over tables. With all of the recent publicity, trying to get a reservation isn't easy at the last minute. It is suggested that reservations be made at least one week in advance. I was fortunate to get a lunch reservation. I had tried to walk-in the night before, but there were no openings and the kitchen was closing. We decided to eat at One Pico instead and the General Manager there, Andrew, called The Greenhouse to see if they could squeeze us in the following day. He was able to get a lunch reservation, and the General Manager, David O'Brien, from The Greenhouse even came over to One Pico to introduce himself and said he was looking forward to us eating there the following day. We ordered the Chef's Choice Five Course Tasting Menu. The meal started off with an amuse bouche of a maitake mushroom cream puff. A perfectly light and crunchy cream puff shell encasing, a rich earthy filling of mushrooms. The first course was foie gras, royale and frozen, green apple and candied nuts. This dish is a grab bag of flavors, textures and temperatures. Pairing the earthy and velvety foie gras with the tartness of green apples, and the sweet crunchiness of nuts will keep your taste buds dancing and wanting more. The second course was a Jerusalem artichoke veloute with truffle oil. The soup is silky smooth. The truffle oil adds some richness and earthiness to the dish. A very well balanced course. The third course was cod, smoked mussels and cauliflower puree with hazelnut oil. The cod was cooked to perfection. Still slightly translucent in the middle, the delicate flavor rose right to the top. The smoked mussels were tender and did not overpower the cod. The cauliflower puree added some earthiness to the dish. A great way to start the meal. The fourth course was venison, pumpkin puree, roasted shallots and bacon. The venison was a perfect medium rare. The roasted shallots added some sweetness to the dish. The pumpkin puree added some earthiness, while the bacon added some saltiness and a textural contrast. The meal ended with a dessert of chocolate, carmelized onions, with sorbet and a mousse like dish, and milk solid crisps. The dish just did not work for me. The sorbet and mousse was strange to have as a dessert and was rather tart. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the ingredient and lost my notes, but it is something that is usually associated with savory dishes rather than desserts. To me it did not pair well with the chocolate. The menu at The Greenhouse is very ambitious and creative, but certainly in the right hands with Chef Viljanen at the helm.
