I had a good meal at Captain 9's. It's a small town pizza place. The inside is decorated with tons of firefighter memorabilia. It also has ice cream. The staff is friendly mostly. I had a calzone. It's about $10 for most calzones. This one had mushrooms and onions. It didn't take too long to make. This came with garlic oil dipping sauce and pizza sauce. It was nice to get that many dipping options. There's places that won't give you anything. Inside the restaurant is neat to walk around. There's firefighter equipment scattered around, and lots of pictures from the little league teams it supports. Best in Germantown. It may also have delivery. Store has a new name. I don't remember what it is. It was kind of hum drum. When you walk in you are greeted with a large light up menu on the back wall. They have a lot of items but you don't know how much they are because there are no prices. They have paper menus the same way. I guess you order and roll the dice to hope they charge is fair. Looked clean and the food was ok. Doubt I will go back. Not a fan of the sneaky mystery price. Oh and they ask you at the front desk before anyone brings out the food if you want to leave a tip! One of my most favorite pizza spots! And the icecream is the best anywhere around! A MUST stop for anyone that has never been there. The owner is really kind too. Great service and great food! The regular pizza (it's a thin crust) is the best! I definitely prefer it to hand tossed, deep dish, or stuff crust. I think b/c the toppings are really good quality and I prefer the crust ratio to be minimized so I can really enjoy the flavor of the toppings. Never had an icecream flavor I didn't like here! Changed ownership. Do not order potato skins really bad. Small very little bacon and cheese. Captain 9's so much better. Mozzarella sticks very small and you don't get sauce unless you ask. Fish sub they only put very little cheese and no tartar sauce. I will not go there again. read more

We stopped here 9pm on Friday night. Tons of locals with their kids enjoying ice cream in the parking lot. There are a couple of outside picnic tables. Our order was carry out, we didn't order ahead but the wait was only about 20 minutes. The supreme pizza really was supreme! Loaded with crumbled sausage, onions and peppers diced small with pepperoni underneath. The thin crust was sliced in manageable squares. $12 for a small but it easily fed two people. The mushroom cheese hoagie was as expected and the cheeseburger with fries was good although the fries didn't travel well. Reasonable prices on sandwiches. We visited Captain 9's as we had a Groupon. We ordered a veggie pizza, two salads, and three lasagne dishes for take away. The staff was very nice and efficient. The pizza (thin crust) was excellent as were the salads. We had the lasagne the next day, and it was very good as well. The fire fighter memorabilia is also very interesting. read more

I love this place. The workers are always friendly. They have the best ice cream!! They aslo have many vegetarian options! I always get the spaghetti! It's really good. It can take awhile but definitely with the wait. I took my little cousin here and he had a blast! There is even a park a few minutes away to burn off all of that engery. No very good food at all, restaurant was dark and gloomy. Skimpy on the toppings. Made my potatoe skins wrong, and 3 different tables we tried to sit down at weren't clean. The place is ran by young teenagers whom don't know what they are doing, you can't let kids run a business. Gotta say I was impressed. We just moved to town this summer, and received a free pizza coupon in the mail. I thought that was a very welcoming gesture. Thin crust meat pizza is AMAZING!!! Best pizza in the area, hands down. (Gotta get the THIN crust though.... the deep dish is not as good.) The owner is sooooooo nice too. I drive all the way from Franklin to eat here. One time I forgot my purse! It's a good 45 minutes from home - I scrounged my car and scraped up all the change I could find but was $3 short - but the owner let me pick up my food anyway. The next time I was in.... I gave him $5 and told him thank you and reminded him of what happened. It was super kind of him to take the $3 off. Also - the ice cream here is REALLY REALLY good! I get some every time I go now, and occasionally when passing by to go other places I will stop just for ice cream alone. I'm a big fan of the Raspberry cake! Our first time ordering from here, friends raved at how good it was so we finally gave it a try. We ordered a half pepperoni half cheese and it was all pepperoni and cheese . We also ordered a medium deluxe which was better tasting that the first but it wasn't done and all the slices were cut very uneven. Quintessential small-town pizzeria: Decent pizza, nice variety of calzones, subs, wings, entree salads, and soups. The Hershey's Ice Cream offered is delicious, but is overpriced for the portions. I eat here pretty consistently with the family in the dining room, and the food and proportion sizes are consistent. Large main dining room is comfortable for large groups, but on most nights it's filled with various little league teams or large families and thus many small children, loudly eating, or running around. In conclusion, good food, and decent prices for small town Germantown. Also keep your eyes peeled, the owner pretty frequently runs "$20 for $10" deals on Groupon. read more

I live near Trader's World and the new Casino, but often make the trip over to Germantown to get their thin crust pizza - it is amazingly delicious - plus you can't beat great food while simultaneously supporting a local restaurant! They also have the BEST ice cream out of anywhere around!!! If you have never been here - I highly recommend that you go! My husband had purchased a Groupon. We decided to give the place a try after church on a Saturday night. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The lasagna I got was very good. This was no Stouffer's warmed up, folks! I didn't know what to expect from a place that probably specializes in pizza more than anything else. I had attended captain nines in hope of a nice frozen dairy treat. The prices seemed fair and the section was adequate. I was trying to make up my mind and I had requested a sample of "super man" after I asked once more for a sample of another classic, cotton candy. The cashier, Michael, denied me a second sample. Me and a friend went in there at 9:30 pm the sign said they didn't close until 11:00pm. We walk in there and no one said a word. They were so rude. They did not say hi or thank you or anything. They acted like we were such a problem. Then we sat in the car because they acted like we shouldn't be in there. Another car pulled up and got out as soon as they got to the door an employee ran up (literally ran) and locked the door in their face. The owner was right there watching too. We have always enjoyed coming here on the weekend for pizza and ice cream. However, this last visit will be our last. Yesterday ourselves and another family went and we each had a Groupon for $20 worth of food. The other family didn't spend the full amount and was given their change without a receipt. After sitting at the table for a minute, the wife realized that the change given was wrong (too little), but wanted to get the receipt to make sure before asking for the correct amount. The husband went up to the counter and the same guy was working the register that took their order. The husband explained that a receipt was needed as they think they were short changed. The cashier looked stunned (as if he were caught) and then proceeded to get the difference out of the drawer, without being told the amount or giving a receipt. This tells me that they were hoping that the customer wouldn't notice and they could make a few extra dollars. (It was only $3.) I don't like dishonesty, and this seemed rather shady to me. I felt like the cashier was trying to steal from our friends and only did the right thing when he was caught. The food was great, as always, but the service was not.
