A retreat much closer and less pricey than Key West but still a fun time. Checkin was easy and they were helpful directing us to our room at Exuma Cay across from the river. Could not believe the room was so cheap. Parking was $40 but right next to my hotel room. Capt Hiram's has three fun bars at the resort and it feels like you are in the beach. Met with Erin at the checkin counter and she was chatty and the registration went smoothly. The beachy themed room was clean and amazing in the Exuma Cay section overlooking the river and only a few steps away from the Black Fins tiki. Ample parking spaces were available. The price per night hovered around $235.00 with a $20.00 resort fee, which is still a good deal based on the location and time of high season still in effect. Breakfast is NOT complimentary but they offer some food in the lobby for a fee. read more

After seeing the commercials for this place, I was eager to check it out, and I was not disappointed. Everything was awesome and this is everything a coastal establishment should be like. The property is totally awesome and has a great vibe. I loved where we sat and the great views. Ended up exploring the whole place with my toddler who decided to check everything out. We even saw a hermit crab from the dock. It's cool that you can take your boat here and there were a lot of people who did it and a nice guy there to help. The food was fantastic with the exception of the person in our party who ordered fish and chips and it was two small pieces of fish. But I enjoyed this place so much and by the looks of it, I bet they're absolutely slammed when they have live music. I can't wait to go back. read more

The room we had w/ a balcony overlooking the marina was wonderful, remodeled and comfortable. 2 Adirondack chairs and table w/ 2 stools gave options for morning coffee watching sunrise, dolphins playing in marina or evening listening to the music w/o the crowd. This is one of the many Florida restaurants that feel like you're on vacation even if you live here all around. This place does check many, not all of the boxes. You have water views, it's outside, sandy floors, docks for hanging out on or docking your boat, colorful and festive and a few bars. We ended up at the bar because that's always our first choice. He ordered a beer and I ordered a bloody Mary. We were perfectly happy with our drinks so we ordered appetizers. Crab bisque- 6/10 not bad in flavor, but too watery. The bartender did apologize that it was a bit watery today. The kitchen needs to do better. (Can't remember the name) these fried fish bites- 4/10 I feel like if it wasn't for the dipping sauce these would just be very dull. When something taste delicious, you really shouldn't need sauce. It's just supposed to be an added touch if you wanted more of a flavor or if it's just a sauce person. The atmosphere is everything and it hits that mark. Would I drive out of my way to come back here, no. This is a great tourist spot. But as a Floridian, I look for the full package, not just the view. My friend found this resort and the building we stayed at is up to date with clean modern carpets nice furniture , cute patio, modern bathroom, small refrigerator and microwave . Our beds were okay but not the best . I do like the value of this resort however there are some problems . I didn't like that the following day the beds were not made , no clean towels, no garbage thrown out , no refreshing of shampoo and conditioner ,coffee for the coffee maker . Also we were on the 3 floor and the first night the elevator broke , this meant my friends with knee problems had problem going up and down steps for three days no elevator . At check in they gave us some lovely tote bags and a plastic bracelet . The front desk people were welcoming . Over all I would stay here again ,if they straighten up these problems . read more

When we entered the place was hopping! There was a band play and the it was loud. We like talk so we found some tables away from the music but every table was full of dishes. We had to wait for a server to clean a table, however our server ran into a friend's family (by talk and gesture, this is my inference) and started talking and forgot about us. He cleaned their table and got their order before I had to remind him about it. (I'm all about serving the locals, we live in a tourist town. But he shouldn't forget he promised to clean our table!) Finally we got just waters for being seated but they taste like bleach, so we opted for alcoholic drinks which were just okay in flavor. We finally ordered. We got a starter of hushpuppies, I got fish tacos, and my husband ordered the special of blackened fish. The hushpuppies took no time to come out and we eat them while enjoying the view as we got a table right on the river. I took awhile for the food to arrive, however, and so you get no photos of that as we were hungry and just dug in. We really liked the hush puppies. My tacos were just ok. My husband did like his blackened fish. I'm sure this is a great party and drinking spot. Maybe not a "stop of lunch after the beach when you're hungry" location. Not good. Food fair, waitress lovely. We are not full time residents in Florida. Have been here before a while ago. Had guests visiting. Took them to Hirams as it WAS a tourist attraction! Checked website which indicated Happy Hour with no limitations mentioned. Apparently, Captain Hiram's discriminates against visitors/ tourists. We sat in Bar to order and were told we could not partake in Happy Hour unless we were signed up in loyalty pgm. Could sign up right there but couldn't use it until next day!!! What bar denies patrons to partake in their Happy Hour. Never again!! We will not be visiting Captain Hiram's again. read more

One e of our favorite restaurants ever. Didn't have to wait long for a table and my salivary glands were working overtime, My girlfriend ordered fried shrimp the rest of us had Fish and Chips, Hiram's is never a disappointment everything is always excellent. So many seafood restaurants use garbage fish for fish and chips. Not Hiram's, always Cod and priced reasonably $18 for an order. The atmosphere and ambience is amazing incredible views during the day. It's hard to compliment Hiram's other than to say it's 5 stars in our book. read more

Expensive! Fiancée and I went in for a dozen oysters and a single happy-hour beer. The total came out to $47! Also, it seemed like the "half shell" the oysters were on had been reused. The "meat" wasn't attached to any of the shells like you'd usually find on half shell oysters and a couple of them had a weird tinge and feel to them like they had been washed/reused a couple of times. read more

Came with friends for some drinks and fresh seafood. Had a pleasant experience with the live music and fresh drinks. Had their spicy margarita with 21 Seeds cucumber tequila, my favorite then a piña colada also really delicious and ordered a half a pound of fresh peel and eat shrimp, perfect! Friends ordered calamari and burgers and they all said it was delicious. Caesar salad was also really tasty all in all a great experience live music definitely elevate the location and watching the Marina boats come in , and the fish being prepped nearby was cool. Visiting a friend in Sebastian and he took us here for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, right on the water with live music. The country band playing was great. Can be loud if you are looking for a quiet environment. We sat in a boat in the back which was a cool experience. I got the prime rib dip sandwich and clam chowder which i thought was great. We stayed here after our Best Western hotel was under renovation across the street . It's a very nice hotel with a restaurant and a bar and grill on the grounds. The rooms are cute and very nicely decorated. The front desk was very helpful and room was very clean . We had food and drinks at the Sandbar bar and grill . Hostess didn't speak when we showed up; she just stared at us. I told her we had a reservation, and she silently took us to our table. Anyway, the table had a perfect view of the water. Lastly, Dawn at the front desk has wonderful aura and I know she is an excellent employee here. We will definitely be back. Weather isn't great but these ladies are making our time worth while here! This is for Blackfin restaurant in the resort. We had the swordfish seafood trio and it was great! Conch fritters were tasty and we ordered more. Rum bucket was good, but the "level 3" (most expensive) painkiller was not...you need to actually pour the rum in the drink, not just wave the bottle near the glass. So overall, food was great. Drinks were a mixed bag...but it happens. Staff was very friendly and we had a great time. Will definitely be back. read more

We came to Capt Hirams for a lunch on the beach, and the vibe was amazing! We got to see fisherman bringing in their fresh catches, lots of birds & wildlife, plus plenty of places that you could sit along the shore. This really seems like the place to be for a day/night out drinking. There's a large bar with lots of seating and standing areas in the sand. Lots of fun drinks on the menu plus really any classics you could want. I had a whiteclaw and my boyfriend had an IPA. The food here was pretty good, nothing crazy outstanding. We split the crab dip to start - loved that it came with jalapenos to bring in some extra flavor (it was a little bland otherwise). It came with a variety of crackers and I felt that there were definitely enough to finish the dip. I would say this dish is best split between two people or less since the portion isn't that big. I ordered the shrimp tacos. When it arrived I was worried that it would be bland since it lacked a lot of color, but the sauce and the cheese that was on it was super flavorful! I really enjoyed it. So while my boyfriend and I wee staying at the resort across the street, we came here a couple times, once during lunch, and once at night, around 10pm. The time we came for lunch was great! The food was great, and sitting next to the ocean was great. So we had such a great experience that we come back that same night for a late night dinner. We get told that the indoor part of this place was closing in 30 minutes, but that the outdoor area was still open for another couple hours, and still serving food. We ask if the outdoor side has a different menu then the indoor side? And the server said, and I quote, "no, the menu over there is the same as it is over here." Well we sit down and get the menu and guess what? The menu is completely different! I guess she blatantly lied to our faces because she wanted to get out of work asap? Which I understand, but don't just completely lie to people... Plus the food on the outdoor side was not good, and they served it to us in plastic bowls... But the real kicker was when we ordered a pina colada, and they proceeded to drop off these dinky little drinks that I'm not exaggerating, we're finished in two sips. I had ordered a pina colada for lunch, and it was in a glass that was 3x as big! And the kicker was that they had cost the exact same as the lunch pina coladas! So my first picture taken during the day shows the lunch pina colada, versus the one I received at night. So in conclusion, skip this place after sunset. read more

I am a regular at Hiram's. I took my family there tonight and was disappointed no, disgusted with the fish and chips. It was always wonderful but now it sucks. Not to mention, I would have been better off getting 2 kids meals vs the regular one on the menu. The kids meal was bigger than the adult one! Very disappointing Captain! read more

My family and I had lunch at Captain Hiram's. The food wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either. I ordered the shrimp po'boy. The fried shrimp was nicely fried and a generous portion but the sandwich barely had any lettuce or tomato and the "hoagie" was a hot dog bun. Our server was friendly. The overall vibe of this place was very laid back and fun. I do like the outdoor seating on the sand, overlooking the marina. We even saw dolphins! Overall I wouldn't necessarily come here for food but perhaps to have a cold beer, listen to live music and people watch. read more

Your hotel staff is so unorganized and unprofessional. not always people at the desk as you enter. granted the hallways are narrow but difficult to manuever when the housekeeping staff has there carts all over and unprofessional leaving food that they are consuming on the cart, the staff hardly ever has the rooms ALL done by the apparent check in time. ive had friends stay saying they had to wait 20 min because they are finishing up rooms and theres usually 2 doing the room pending on the time of day.
