They put chips on their soda cups, give you ONE refill, and don't allow you to get that one refill after an hour. Beware.

Capt. Cook's is the Polynesian Resort's quick service snack bar. It's located by the main areas, so it's very convenient. As with most things Disney dining, it's overpriced and mediocre. And let's be honest: the only reason I ever go here is to hang out while I'm waiting for my seat at Trader Sam's to be ready! There's a large indoor seating area with picture windows that look out onto the Polynesian property. Lush trees give a tropical vibe, and the outdoor dining patio is also nice when it's not raining or super hot and humid. This is a strictly "grab-and-go" spot with a unique menu that also has family-friendly favorites (chicken noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, chicken fingers and burgers). If you're looking for something a little more "elevated" (and I use that term loosely here), they have pizza style flatbreads, rice and noodle bowls, and unusual items like coconut meatballs and pork sandwiches. The place is very friendly and welcoming, and I recommend you use the Disney app for mobile ordering. Capt. Cook's is a great mobile order spot: it's fast, accurate, and there's no long wait in line when you're tired and hungry. If you haven't been to WDW in a while, I have some disappointing news for you: you can no longer get Dole Whip at Capt. Cook's. I know, I know. I remember the days of the SELF SERVICE Dole Whip machine here. Disney's just messed everything up! Even more annoying is that when you purchase a soda here, they give you ONE refill. How do they monitor that? Well, the soda cups have chips built in the bottom. Yes, on the PAPER SODA CUPS!!! Come on, Disney, you're charging me close to $6 for a tiny little drink cup and I can't refill it more than ONCE? This is the main reason for my low star rating of Capt. Cook's! I will say again that every single time I have been here, the service is fast and friendly. Cast Members here seem to keep things running smoothly even when the place is packed, making Capt. Cook's one of the most painless places to grab a quick snack.

Great spot for a quick cheap eat at the Polynesian Resort at Disney. The sauce on the Korean chicken bowl was sweet with a lil kick. The cheese flatbread was a good size. Both were pretty filling even though it was loaded with carb. They have a big condiments section with big Ken's ranch packets. It went well with the flatbread. Service was friendly as usual at Disney and the spot had lots of seating, even some outside if you can bear the heat. Went in here while waiting to get into the speakeasy right next door at Trader Sam's Grog Grotto. It was about a 30 minutes wait to get in there so this was just right to pass the time

I loved coming here! It gets busy but the food comes pretty quick! Nice selection of grab-and-go and Polynesian themed foods available! I highly recommend getting the pineapple cupcake and the Thai Coconut Meatballs!

Every great hotel has that one "casual" spot where you expect frozen pizza and end up questioning your life choices. Captain Cook's is not that place. This is the Polynesian's quick-service joint, and somehow it's better than 90% of the restaurants people line up for in Orlando. First off, the menu reads like a fever dream cooked up after too many Dole Whips. Pulled pork nachos? Yes. Tonga Toast for breakfast? Legendary. Thai coconut meatballs? Random but delicious. Flatbreads? Of course, because you need something to soak up all the rum from Trader Sam's before you crawl back to your room. The star of the show? The Aloha Pork Sandwich--juicy, messy, unapologetic, and best eaten while sitting on the patio pretending you live here full-time and not just for three days until your credit card bursts into flames. Pair it with house-made chips and suddenly you're not in a hotel cafeteria--you're in some weird alternate universe where quick service actually slaps. And let's not ignore the fact that you can get Dole Whip right outside. This is basically Disney's way of saying: "We know you're not leaving this property, so here's sugar and pineapple in frozen form. Shut up and be happy." The vibe? Chill. It's the place you wander into barefoot at 2 a.m. after Trader Sam's, order pork nachos, and swear it's the best meal of your life--until you do it again the next night and realize you weren't hallucinating. Captain Cook's is what happens when Disney takes "fast food" and quietly makes it gourmet. It's cheap by Disney standards, it's good by any standards, and it might be the best reason to stay at the Polynesian (besides watching fireworks on the beach with a Dole Whip in hand). Captain Cook may have been a colonialist, but his namesake cafeteria? Straight-up legendary.

We frequently visit Capt. Cook's when visiting WDW, and enjoy their noodles! We also tried the flatbread pizza this time and it wasn't bad. The service is pretty decent and the decor matches the theme of the hotel. It's a little pricey, but it's Disney.

Stopped here for breakfast before going to Magic Kingdom. I like how it feels more elevated than a budget resort cafeteria as you have to order your food at a counter and they will bring it to you. On the other hand, I like the variety of options at a budget resort. oh well. I ordered the Mickey waffles with sausage. I would've preferred an à la carte Mickey waffle with eggs or something but I didn't really have a lot of time to process my order. The food came pretty quick, although I had to get up a couple times to visit the coffee dispenser as they were brewing more the first time. The cafe felt Polynesiany but it's no Ohana. I mean, I wasn't going for the ohana experience- I needed a quick breakfast. It worked for that but I wish it felt more Polynesiany.

It's something different ok! I'll grab a bite here over the regular Disney quick service any day. In short; I love the pulled pork nachos. I don't like the noodles (shrimp or vegetables) too wet for me. I think the spicy chicken is pretty good, nice spice. The decor is meh, but it's quick service and not supposed to be anything fancy. The staff is, as always, polite and friendly. As far as price goes, it's about $11-15 per order so pricey, but in-line with regular Disney quick service.

I finally stopped in to try the Tonga toast and it did not disappoint! Well, mostly. I did try to cut into the outside and the crust was a bit tough. Almost a bit stale. Once I made it to the soft center, I couldn't stop eating it! I love a good cinnamon and sugar waffle, French toast, anything! Side note, the bacon is always yummy at Disney!

Located inside of the Polynesian resort this quick serve restaurant is easy to grab a snack or full meal. To find this spot you'll walk down the left hallway if you're coming from the check-in area. You'll pass a bathroom area and then see it straight ahead. They have a display menu board overhead that you can glance through as you wait in what is usually a pretty short line. They do have some cold case options like fruits, pastries, drinks, and salads. If you're on the lookout for a fun Disney dessert, they have cute cupcake offerings in this case as well. The staff is very good about moving the line quickly and offer the Disney service one comes to expect from the mouse. They offer indoor and outdoor seating, but as it's regularly hot in FL, you'll most likely want an inside option. The seating area is small, and it can sometimes take a minute to get a seat. Overall: A- Solid quick serve option for guests staying at the resort or just passing through it.

Whenever we go to Disney, we make it a point to stop by here for the Thai coconut meatballs. Since discovering them many years ago, they have NEVER failed in how delicious they are. Even during the pandemic, my wife has gotten so close to replicating them at home - that's how good they are. Its mouth watering as I write this. Get a taste and experience the sweetness, tenderness, spiciness, and flavor. Delicious all the way. Leaves you wanting more.

Spicy Korean chicken bowl - crispy chicken strips covered in gochujang sauce over steamed rice and cucumber namasu
    Matt P.

This is the restaurant inside the Polynesian resort. The island theme runs throughout the food options here. I went with the spicy Korean chicken bowl, which was crispy chicken strips covered in gochujang sauce over steamed rice and cucumber namasu. For $12.99 the portion size was decent, enough to fill me up. The spicy sweet gochujang sauce paired well against the tangy cucumbers. Tables were difficulty to come by so be prepared to stand or keep circling around for a table to open up. Depending where you sit, you can get a nice view of the pool and waterslide area. If you're staying in the Polynesian and need a quick bite to eat before you hit the parks, stop by Capt Cook's.

    Thai Coconut Meatballs and Rice
    Johanna S.

The place was beautifully decorated as you would expect from a Disney restaurant. It was huge but a little loud. The staff were nice and friendly. We ordered the Korean Chicken Bowl and the Coconut Meatballs and Rice. The Korean bowl was sweet and too sour. It has a nice texture though. The meatballs were okay you can definitely taste the coconut. My son ordered the chicken strips kids meal and it came with fries, cookie and a drink.

    Pulled Pork Nachos
    Bethany G.

The Nachos are 100% worth the hype! They are delicious and you should definitely try them. Capt. Cooks also has a delicious Caesar salad. The only negative is that the indoor seating is very limited. You may have a hard time finding somewhere to sit inside if you go during peak times. I will definitely be back to try these again!

It's one of Disney's newer additions, and worth the detour. Grabbed a Cold Brew Coffee to start the morning. My only gripe was they were pretty heavy-handed with the ice, which left me with more diluted coffee than I bargained for so I'd you're an iced coffee purist, don't be shy about asking for light ice. That said, the experience was quick, easy, and painless if you're looking to get your caffeine fix before a full day in the parks. The space itself has a really nice ambience that fits the Polynesian's theming well. Being a newer concept, it feels fresh and polished without the wear you see at some of the older resort quick-service spots. Would I come back? Probably, especially for convenience if I'm already over at the Poly. Just going to ask for easy ice next time!

The menu is preset so be aware of that going in, but the menu is pretty kid (and adult) friendly as it's Thanksgiving themed. The interior is beautiful and it's a nice, relaxing spot to eat at for a break. Our waiter was very friendly and the food came out pretty quick. As a heads up this is an all you can eat establishment (for around $40-45 bucks a head) so you can eat to your heart's desire. The meal starts off with their house salad featuring greens, apples, cranberries, and cheese all tossed together. It was surprisingly much better than we thought it would be and if not for maximizing what we ate while there we wouldn't have minded getting more. Following up the salad is a feast of: roasted turkey, pot roast, pork loin, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and Mac and cheese. We absolutely dove in. The turkey was alright, not dry (a huge plus) with the pot roast being a much better option in our opinion. The pork loin was delicious with a nice sweet glaze on it. The mac and cheese likewise was good and creamy along with a savory and filling stuffing. The only misses we would say were the mashed potatoes which felt thin and flavorless and then the green beans which really just took up space. For dessert they have their oooey gooey toffee cake which is very sweet but admittedly difficult to put down after the main course. It's not overly sweet too which is nice to finish your meal on. By the end of our meal we were stuffed and ready to tackle the rest of the night. We would say for the price this might not be the best option for those doing Disney on a budget but if you are a pro at making buffets stretch then this is a decent deal. A solid, filling meal all around and one that is very palette friendly for all.

If you ever find yourself strolling through Magic Kingdom with a craving for comfort food that…read morefeels like Thanksgiving at Grandma's... let me point you straight to the duo of The Diamond Horseshoe and Liberty Tree Tavern. What many guests don't realize is that the Diamond Horseshoe isn't just a quick-service stop or a random overflow location--it's actually an extension of Liberty Tree Tavern, sharing the same kitchen and serving up the exact same all-you-care-to-enjoy feast. The difference? You're dining in a space that once hosted a full-on dinner show, complete with musical performances. Today, the stage still lives on with an automated piano, giving just a hint of that old-school Disney charm. Honestly, I would've loved to experience it in its heyday. Now let's talk about the real star of the show: the food. This is classic, hearty, family-style comfort food done right. Your meal kicks off with a fresh salad, and then comes the main event--a platter that feels like it was prepared for royalty. We're talking tender pot roast, juicy pork loin, creamy mashed potatoes, and rich, homemade mac and cheese. Everything is refillable, so come hungry. And just when you think you're done... enter the legendary ooey gooey toffee cake. Warm, sweet, and absolutely worth saving room for. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause mid-bite and go, "yeah... this is why we came." What really makes this experience shine is the value. At around $45 for adults and $24 for kids, it's one of the better table-service deals in the park--especially for an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal that the whole family can get behind. Our son loved it, which always seals the deal. A little Disney history moment: back in the day, the Diamond Horseshoe featured a musical revue similar to Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. That ran until 2003, when it transitioned into additional seating for Liberty Tree Tavern. The theming today is slightly different, but the menu and quality remain consistent. Pro tip (from a Cast Member): if you're eligible, that 40% discount for breakfast and dinner makes this an absolute steal. At the end of the day, this is one of those experiences that feels like home--just with a little extra Disney magic sprinkled on top. So pull up a chair, pass the mashed potatoes, and enjoy a family-style feast right in the heart of the most magical place on earth.

We were staying at a Holiday Inn near Disney Springs so we decided to come here for a late dinner. One of the best decisions made here. We did a late night walk through the shopping center and landed here around 9:50 pm. It was pretty late and we worried there would be no seats but we were seated promptly. The establishment was very ambient, cozy, and well furnished. I liked the warm, glowing atmosphere of the restaurant. The server was extremely polite and took our order quite soon. We were starving after a long day but the food came out in around 20ish minutes which wasn't too bad. The serving sizes were quite huge. We didn't expect this much food for two portions. For $34 per plate, the dishes were large and came with a large helping of sides. The fried chicken was extremely crispy and juicy. They originally wanted to serve the food quickly/more fresh so they served a chicken thigh to me after on a second plate. They also forgot my substitution of Mac n cheese for mash potatoes so I got a free helping of mash which was sweet. The pickled cucumber was light and fresh which tasted great with the heavier chicken. The potatoes were a little heavy and I wish came with gravy, but still delicious. I really loved the Mac n cheese and finished that up. The chicken steak was also delicious with the grits but a little too salty. Wish they added the grits to the side for me to dip as it became a little too much at times. It was better to eat it with a side of potatoes to balance the flavor. The broccolini was sautéed perfectly and delicious, could eat a whole plate of those alone. The biscuits weren't bad but tasted better eaten with the potatoes. The food was a little heavy but so so good. We had to take half of the food to our hotel and ate it the next day for dinner as it was way too much food for one meal. Even after microwaving it, the food was just as delicious and flavorful. We spent about $80 but had so much food leftover. An expensive dinner, but everything tasted amazing. Would definitely come back if I had the chance.

All in all this place is built to be a 45 minute release for parents with kids so they can imbibe with up to 2 libations and choices between 2 different food appetizers... I wouldn't call this place remarkable or overall worth it but it was ok for a first time visit. The staff were kind and welcoming throughout with exception to one person making drinks for the floor, but no worries. Maybe with a large group this could be better and worth it.
