Before Alpine…read morewill book an appointment, all medical records need to be submitted to the surgeon for review. Once reviewed and the doctor accepts to see the patient, the front office will book an appointment. This process took about two weeks before the doctor agreed to see me. The front lobby is pretty large with plenty of seating and accessible bathrooms. There is also a small table and chairs for children in the corner. There are five windows in reception, so wait time to check-in is pretty quick. The receptionist I've dealt with was pleasant. The reason for taking one star away: This place is extremely busy. Plan ahead and ensure your schedule is clear a few hours around your appointment time. After being checked-in for my appointments, I wasn't taken back to a room for about 20 minutes after my scheduled time. Once in the patient room, it took about 1 1/2 hours on my first appointment and about 30 minutes on the other two appointments to be seen by the surgeon. There are signs posted informing patients of these delays. I 100% agree that every patient is different and times can vary. However, this was probably the most annoying thing about my experience at Alpine. Having said that, my doctor took time to explain the procedure and my options. After speaking with him and researching him, I was confident in his ability to repair my shoulder. Once I elected to proceed with surgery, I was able to schedule surgery pretty quickly. On the day of the surgery, my surgeon checked in with me to ensure I didn't have any last minute questions. He told us the estimated time surgery would take and told my wife he would call her when my procedure was done. Once I was done in surgery, he called my wife as promised. I did not suffer any complications after surgery. Everything healed well, looks good and I am expected to make a full recovery. Based on my experience, I would use Alpine again.

The…read moreStockton (formerly Manteca) location appears to be staffed by only one person, making timely patient care virtually impossible. Over the course of four consecutive days, I placed 18 calls per day, each time receiving a recording stating they were "helping other patients" and would return my call within 24 hours. No one ever called back. The only way I was able to reach the office was by calling from a different phone number, at which point I was told the doctor is based in San Jose and only comes to the Central Valley two days per month. This critical detail was never disclosed upfront. As a result of this lack of transparency and responsiveness, my 91‑year‑old uncle, who broke his hip and underwent hip surgery, has now been in pain for three weeks without proper follow‑up care. This is unacceptable and potentially dangerous for an elderly post‑surgical patient. The receptionist should have clearly communicated the doctor's extremely limited availability from the start. Operating a practice this way--especially while treating vulnerable, elderly patients--is irresponsible. Note: with the doctor only being in office two days a month, it's obvious they are not "helping other patience" as the recording states. This was a truly unacceptable office experience.

He was very clear about the non-weight bearing restrictions & the time frame for those restrictions. It's amazing to see my scar, now three months after the surgery. It is so faint you can barely see it. My friends are amazed at how wonderfully my incision has healed & so quickly. Dr. Than is very thorough in his pre-op preparation. I was greeted by a very friendly and professional staff and felt this could be a good place. I was told early on that Doctor was in surgery at Doctors Hospital (across the street) and would be coming back soon. I was in the office for 2 hours and no Doctor. As I'm walking out, I heard the doctor just arrived and could be seen quickly. The office staff was sincerely apologetic and I felt bad because they could see my frustrations. Before I left I requested to have my paperwork back and the CD's with my X-rays. I've been referred by my Doctor to two different Orthopedists in Manteca and both have been a let down. My first referral, they cancelled my appointment and never informed me. I tried this place out and the doctor shows up an hour and a half late. I truly wish there was more consideration for patients that have scheduled appointments. I understand Doctor was in surgery, but knowing things can happen and there could be potential delays, perhaps appointments shouldn't be scheduled. I work in the Bay Area and I'm now out two vacation days due to both doctors. The unprofessionalism that I experienced cannot be erased, especially when starting off a relationship with a new doctor. I have had great experiance with Alpine Orthopedic in Stockton and will now need to drive out there to receive the professional level of service needed. I truly try my best to support local businesses, unfortunately some make it very difficult to do so.
