Capstone was amazing from start to finish. We had a flood back in April and capstone was at our door within hours. The heart and soul of this whole operation was Brooke. That woman is a workhorse and a leader and she took command of the whole situation and guided the crew and got in there herself and handled the initial phase like a master. She returned to our house virtually every day to take moisturereadings, but I swear her commitment was so great that it was like she was taking care of her own house! You could really feel that she cared. Next came Gary months later to plan out the restoration, get all the materials ready, and then when the work began, This crew of guys putting our house back together again were fantastic. They were all friendly and very careful and courteous. They were with us for 4 or 5 days and I couldn't have cared less how long they were there because they worked clean and they worked as efficiently as possible and they put our place together beautifully. There was Josiah and Zach basically leading the way with the rest of the crew and they came back as necessary to fine-tune some stuff and just to make sure that everything was perfect. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this company. Brooke was really the standout star from day one and even though she wasn't involved in the later restoration, it was her focus and attention that really made me fully believe that I was in the right hands with the right company. A company that was once regarded as the best in the business has gone headfirst into the toilet. Poor workmanship, do-overs, shoddy shortcuts, and - worst of all - no communication. On a routine kitchen appliance installation, they omitted a fastener that should ALWAYS be installed. Had them come out to do an estimate to get repairs done from a tree fall on roof. Came out at scheduled time and "looked" the damage over. Never heard from the estimated so after three week called. Said "working on it". It's been two months now & still nothing. This company is "in my opinion" poorly managed & maybe has too much insurance work to bother with other jobs. read more

This company is poorly run and additionally may commit fraud. The company charged $1100 for putting a tarp up over a 20 foot area of roof and claimed they had used more tarp than actually had been done. Additionally charged for 3 hours of work when they were here for a maximum of 25 minutes. When the company repaired the roof, they had individuals who employed who you wouldn't want your children around, mouths worse than sailors. Additionally, they have no respect for people's property, they moved a bunch of things onto the lawn, and left it there for days, and didn't bother to say they were finished. Additionally, they decided that leaving heavy items on grass for multiple nights is acceptable. I guess they don't have any concern about destroying people's yards and leaving bare spots. But to add insult to injury, they neglected to complete the repairs that were listed on the contract. I received a message saying they were finished, but repairs were not yet complete as agreed to in contract with insurance company. When reminded of this additional repair, they did however perform the necessary repair. Almost a month after finishing the roof replacement. Finally, they decide to give me a bill and date it 5/11 and not actually deliver it until 6/3/2021. I don't think you can date a bill for services not performed and then claim that something is late when you did not actually deliver the bill until 22 days later. Be warned, there's one thing that this company is looking for, it's not quality work or customer service. read more

I wish there were six-star ratings available! We experienced some flooding as a result of a broken waterpipe and the subsequent insurance restoration. From my first contact with Adam, to the final phone call with JR, we have been impressed with every team member of Capstone. I can't tell you what a comfort it was knowing that Adam would have crew onsite the same day to begin water damage remediation. During our visits to your office and warehouse and working with Carol and Marty and Brooke felt like there was personal touch to everything. JR was especially easy to work with, always considerate and kept us informed every step of the way. We could not have felt better about our choice of contractors. This company came in to my mothers house after a flood loss. They made things worse, not better. They tore the place apart and left it undone. Then charged her an exorbitant amount of money and refused to weather the place in. Leaving the house a disaster and exposed to the cold winter elements. They tore out the insulation and vapor barrier from the underside of the house and left it exposed to the moisture, which caused the flooring to be soaked to the point that it became worse. My mother made several attempts to have them come out and fix it, but she was rudely denied. Disaster is what they created, not restored... read more

This company lies every chance they get. They upcharge everything as much as they can. They also miss represent themselves and what they will do for you. "We represent you to the insurance company. We make sure they will give you what you deserve." This is a lie. When insurance didn't cover almost if what they did after our basement flooded they called us over and over and over in 1 day while we were at work to set up a payment plan. Then a year after completing payments we got notice from liberty mutual saying we over payed and capstone had to sign over a check to us for $1700. Well it took over a week of emails and calls to them and them giving us the run around before they would do it. They are beyond immoral. The worst company I've ever dealt with in Spokane as far as screwing their customers goes. If you have construction needs I would go with literally any other company. read more

If you can avoid working with them I recommend that you steer clear of them. They will come on site quickly to start work but not keep you informed of any costs and double book hours for labor and equipment if you have multiple issues going on with the home. I had an additional leak happen after a dishwasher issue and the contactor was already coming to the home yet they charged travel time and work that was being done for one issue to both projects. Once they were done they disappeared and never presented a final bill or explanations until 4 months (I was waiting for them to come back for further estimates and projects and at this time a 4 month delay was par for the course for this company) later I get a late bill threatening to increase the cost even further. During the restoration process they often did not come on days they were supposed to and never told us which was very difficult because the person in that room worked from home and had to change her schedule around when they would be there. All in all, poor communication, dubious charging and billing practices, unwilling to work with a customer when presenting any of these issues. Owner basically told me that he wasn't going to change anything and hung up on me. read more

When no other company was willing to touch the support piers to parts of the second story on my triplex these guys came through. Capstone Construction is still practicing this: I left negative reviews online, on my FB, on Google etc. They sent a letter to us threatening to charge us a $100.00 a day if we and our friends do not delete the negative reviews. They stated it was on their contract that we signed. It was during an emergency, our basement was flooded. We called Capstone and as I had the phone on speaker, I asked what the cost would be if they came to pump the water out. I was told since its after hours, it would be $90.00 an hour. When they arrived there was 18 inches of water in our basement. Before they got started they handed my husband the contract. My husband quickly signed it so that they would begin pumping the water out. On the back page, it was in their contract that negative reviews would cost $100.00 a day, added to our bill. They over charged us approx. 3x the cost quoted, and they blatantly lied on their response to the Attorney General. This company is dirty, they have intimidated consumers not to write poor reviews. It is apparent that this is their regular practice, if a company did good fair work, they wouldn't have to put that clause on the back of their contract.... read more

Capstone came recommended by our insurance company after an upper-level flood damaged all 3 stories of our house. Initially, we asked if we could add on some minor renovations that we had planned to begin before the flood happened, and Mark was great; he really seemed to understand what we needed/wanted. He started showing us what our options were for doors, windows, etc. It seemed odd that our options were so limited, but we trusted him, and tried to make clear to him what we were looking for. Eventually, he stopped showing up, as he said they were short-staffed, and he put someone in charge who he claimed was a "pro". This person was very nice, but had no idea what he was doing, requiring my husband to miss work daily to supervise him. When we complained to Mark, he stated that this guy was now the supervisor. The damage that he did to our house was unbelievable. Some days he would show up not knowing what to do, so he would spend 8 hours installing a light. We were left without any progress on the house for over 6 weeks late last fall, and this guy removed our windows, replacing them with a board on two nails on each. And to top it off, items were ordered for our house that we didn't approve. They were marked up and described as "custom"...These are the same items that, when pricing ourselves, were bottom of the barrel. But since they were "custom" we got stuck with them. Over a month into work, I was finally presented with a partial contract- One page. I signed it, but thankfully I did not receive the other pages that other complainants have claimed to have received. These apparently include a clause that you cannot submit a bad review on this company without being fined $100/day until you remove it. What does that tell you?? Stay FAR away. We eventually paid them a portion of what they decided we owed them in the end, and even that was too much, considering that we have had to have all of the electrical, plumbing and structural rebuilt by someone who actually knows what they're doing. My experience with Capstone Construction was one of the worst experiences that I have had with any service industry company - ever. Capstone Construction was hired to construct an approximately 350 sf, $105,000 addition to my home; the addition was required to make my house more accessible for my wife who has several physical disabilities and suffers from the effects of stage 4 cancer and the treatments. I was conned into what ended up being a very expensive scam; by the time Capstone Construction left the job there was an estimated $150,000 worth of defects in the new construction and damage to my existing home and property. I was lied to by Capstone Construction from the beginning, some of the lies were: 1. It was agreed that the construction would be completed in approximately 2 1/2 month. It took nearly 6 months. 2. It was agreed that the job supervisor would be on site every day to verify that the work was being constructed properly and per the construction documents. The job supervisor did not inspect the work; If the job supervisor did show up he only showed once or twice a week for about 15 minutes; the job supervisor was unable to read construction documents or understand construction very well; if he was confronted with a construction error he would just come up with a line of B.S. and not address the issue. 3. Capstone Construction only uses top quality employees and licensed subcontractors. 7 out of 18 of the subcontractors were not licensed even though Capstone put into writing that all their subcontractors are licensed and bonded; A good portion of the employees and subcontractors could not read English or understand construction documents, most were just basically handymen; literally every trade produced defective work - a sampling of some of the defects are: excavator damaged the underground plumbing even after I had the utilities located, exposed rebar in the foundation, sloppy concrete finish work on both the interior and exterior slabs and walls, improper foundation work that is not constructed per the construction documents, framing that does not align from floor to floor, framing that was critical to be framed plumb and square that was not framed plumb and square at all, the roof was framed at the wrong roof slope, the wrong windows were installed and windows were installed at the wrong height, all of the hardwood and LVT flooring was installed improperly which voids any warrantees, all the door were installed improperly, improper plumbing installation that diminished any usable water flow to the hose connection, light switches mounted about 12" to low, improper HVAC ducting, improper exterior siding and trim installation, incorrect roof flashing, improper roofing installation that allows the roof to leak substantially when it rains, leaking rain gutters, improper attic ventilation, poor quality interior trim work, unequal rod iron baluster spacing at the interior guardrail, damage to existing tile and carpet flooring throughout, incomplete painting on the interior and exterior, substantial amount of paint on the new vinyl window frames, broke three interior stairs, and damaged two skylights. None of these or any of the many other item were corrected before Capstone and their subcontractors left the job. 4. It was agreed that Capstone Construction would completely seal off the existing house from the construction area during demolition and construction. Capstone Construction failed to seal of the existing house which resulted in the entire existing house and all of its contents being covered in an extremely thick layer of dust, this happen repeatedly. In addition there was no winter protection provided to the exposed living spaces during the entire winter. 5. It was understood by Capstone Construction that Capstone Construction was being hired to be the General Contractor because I did not have any time to devote to being my own contractor due to my heavy work load at my job as an Architect, and because of the time commitment required to assisting my wife. I ended up spending well over 100 hours of my time doing Capstone Constructions job of attempting to make sure that the construction moved along and was somewhat conforming to the construction documents. I held back a portion of the contract funds owed while I attempted several times to work with Capstone Construction on compensating me for all the defects and damages; we agreed to mediate a settlement on compensation in good faith, however Capstone Construction decided to blackmail me into settling into being compensated for pennies on the dollar for the defects and damages or they would take me and my wife to court if I attempted to settle for more, they were fully aware that we did not have the time or the money to fight them in court. So in conclusion, if you don't want to be scammed and end up with substantial defective construction like we did, I would recommend that you not even consider Capstone Construction. read more

I do not recommend this company. My basement flooded and they billed me over $700 for 24 hour fan/dehumidifier rental and 2 hours technician time. Said it was the going insurance rate. That's more like highway robbery. Three of my coworkers have had bad experiences with Capstone, too. read more

We needed a support wall put up until our awning can be replaced due to damage. Our insurance adjuster wanted us to call them. Not our selection. Our adjuster also wanted them to give us a second bid for work done. As he didn't trust what skips awning had told us. He ,our adjuster, called and retracted later and I called them to cancel the bid. So Capstone came out. First they wanted to make a wall all the way across our deck. (Overkill) I told the person, no. We just needed support. He was here about 30 minutes. The next morning they showed up at 7am. 2 men. Took them 30 minutes to put some support up. They left. I received a bill for 6 hours, and showed 2 people. I called the person , Mark at Capstone. His exact words were " the insurance is paying for it". This is what is wrong with businesses screwing consumers and insurance companies. Makes our rates go up. Then he back pedaled after I called him out on it and sent me a long text. Saying it starts with the phone call, billing, drive time, estimates, and more. Really!! I have it in writing. He is so fill of S***. Please ask b4 using them what they charge for. And how they will screw the price up if using insurance. Sad read more
