We wanted to try fun Dominican food for breakfast and this was our option! This place was a little tricky to find since the sign apparently blew off the roof and the old, previously covered sign said it was a pizza place. But, I don't give up easy and we were on a mission to try something new! The inside is spotless and very well decorated. I was greeted by Kai who kindly took my order. At first, I ordered a meat lovers omelet with chorizo and other tasty meats. Second, I ordered a veggie omelet for me. Kai was very helpful. But then, I realized I wasn't really sure what a Dominican would eat for breakfast. I asked what a Dominican would eat and Kai, his mother Heidy, and a customer all explained the answer was the Mangu breakfast. Without even knowing what it was, I ordered it. The enthusiastic customer told me he gets it multiple times a week! We all chatted for a while. Heidy explained it includes plantains, pickled onions, eggs, fried cheese and chorizo! Wow! That sounds interesting and wonderful. Heidy and Kai were so gracious and welcoming and I truly appreciated their hospitality. As for the food, it was flavorful and plentiful. We really enjoyed it and honestly, couldn't finish it so we saved leftovers for dinner. Welcome to the Dominican Republic in Tampa, specifically Temple Terrace. Wow! Other reviews and pics led us to believe it was like a real restaurant. My wife is Dominican and we wanted a good meal. This was not the place. First off the person at the front doesn't even know what they serve. Then the menu is an old piece of paper. My wife ordered Los 3 Golpes and portion of sausage was ridiculous. It was a small slice of sausage cut into 3 pieces. I had pepper steak and it was all onions and peppers with almost no meat. The rice was hard and nothing really had flavor. Complete disappointment for $35 lunch. Oh and the place is dirty and the bathroom looked like a crime scene. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving a good Cuban Sandwich, and we found this little gem--and I'm so glad we did! The sandwich was made to perfection, and it was so good! We also tried the Bizcocho Almendras Gato cake, and it was very moist and not too sweet. It was the best dessert. I wanted to try the flan, but it was sold out, so we opted for the cake as suggested by the host, and it was a great suggestion! The staff were attentive and courteous. I recommend this restaurant if you're craving a good, filling sandwich, but please leave room for dessert. read more

Capricho is breakfast and lunch place. It has Dominican food all day with Saturday special to include seafood. It located at plaza's NW corner. A lot people came here for breakfast and sandwiches because of the affordable price. We got the Saturday special with seafood paella and the fried meat. The fried meat is very generous. The best thing is the numbers of type meat. It includes the ham, pork lion, sausage, fried cheese, chicken and plantains. It is good to share. The seafood paella has mussels, shrimp, octopus, squid. A very small little restaurant, great atmosphere. Very friendly people. Dominican cook is very sweet and gave us free Mangú. They were super accommodating and the food left me absolutely full. It was $60 for 4 of us which isn't bad. Definitely worth the trip! read more
