    Tortellini shrimp primavera
    Joey V.

First time ever trying Capparelli's on Main and although it is well known it comes off to me as a hidden gem. To my amazement chicken piccata is a classic dish and with newer Italian restaurants out there it is disappointing this is not in their menu. The Chicken piccata is amazing and has the classic taste I've always known. The shrimp primavera was also amazing. Service was excellent as well as the atmosphere. Definitely a spot to visit.

This was my 3rd time at Capparelli's On Main for lunch time. I absolutely love their lunch specials!! Such a great value for the food. On this visit, I invited two of my coworkers for lunch. We got the Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Alfredo With Mushrooms, and the Shrimp Salad With No Cheese. Everything tasted amazing!! The first two times that I've been here, service was great, quick, welcoming, and friendly. This most recent time, our server wasn't any of that! From the beginning he placed the menus on the table in an unpleasant manner and told us he'd be right with us. Several minutes pass, he comes back to take our drink order but he didn't introduce himself, or try to make a connection with us. We felt rushed and like a burden to him! I understand it was a busy hour and they were "short staffed" which is what our waiter told us at the very beginning. To add, our server didn't check in until it was time to pay. And he just assumed we were all splitting our check. When he came back, i politely asked for one check as I invited my coworkers to lunch. He didn't respond and just walked away to make the check into one. I will continue to come back for the food as I like the value I pay, and hopefully the not so great service was just this once. 4/5 due to most recent service.

So good! I had the grilled chicken salad and it was very tasty! Just the right amount of cheese. Very comfortable place. I will be back.

Great spot! Gay, the owner, is a gem. She prepared the food for a dear friend's memorial service and our crew enjoyed it so much, we decided to host our Christmas Party at her restaurant. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect from a small Italian shop that's not a chain. The food was impeccable. Our server did a great job - all on his own for a group of 30! I felt bad, he could have used an extra hand or two, but he did the best he could.

Are you in the mood for some pizza, maybe some spaghetti? Well, you're in luck as you've found just the right place! Capparellis is an old-school Italian restaurant with generous portions and modest prices. Street parking is available in front, or around the corner depending on how busy it is. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was seated at a table in the back. The retro interior conveys a sense of respectability and class. My server came to table and handed me a menu. They offer a plethora of classic Italian fare, such as soups, salads, seafood, chicken, spaghetti, and and expansive wine list. I wound up getting a plate of spaghetti with marinara sauce with added mushrooms! A basket of bread was brought out as well as a basic salad (iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes). The salad was decent, but iceberg lettuce is one of my pet peeves, so I didn't finish it. The bread however was warm and toasty! My entree arrived in a generous portion and didn't take very long, perhaps 15 minutes or so. The sauce was smooth, well seasoned, and neither too salty nor oily. The mushrooms appeared to be fresh, and blended well in the sauce. Overall, I was satisfied with my dining experience here and would definitely return.

Great service and food! Fried ravioli was amazing. Salad and dressing were great and garlic bread delicious. We all enjoyed our entrees as well!

3.5 Stars, but Yelp does not like partial stars. Would like to motivate them to either reduce their prices a little, but best would be to improve the consistency on the food served and overall execution of the dishes. Service is splendid. Seating upstairs is a nice change. Ambiance is family orientated, with their family photos hanging on the walls, a festive Christmas Tree even in the summer next to homely cupboards. Almost like your relatives who were too lazy to take down the tree this year! The food is mixed. Depends on what you get. Their meatballs are phenomenal. The pizza is delicious. Thin, large. Served hot. But have to be honest, it is a little overly reliant on cheese overload. Yes, some say that there can never be too much cheese- this reviewer might be one of these individuals- yet, it should also be understood that others may disagree for health or taste reasons- and an excellent establishment would not have any ingredient overpower all other flavors and would likely offer the option for extra cheese rather than a standard, as reflected in the price. Maybe could use a little more generosity on the toppings, as well as freshness instead. Pasta was good, but not great for the price; bread is decent, with some dryer overbaked pieces. Some dishes inconsistent from different visits. Soup was lacking flavor, pasta was overly reliant on the sauce drenching out the other individual nuances in the meat and vegetables. Overall, the prices are a tad higher than the food dictates. Worth it for the welcoming experience? Possibly. Would recommend trying it at least once to make your own decision, since this is definitely a stroke in this city. The C alparelli Family has been around a long time, with extended family opening other locations using the same name, but- yes, including moved locations- this is the original.

A good go-to for house made pasta and nice service. Love the veggies in the primavera sauces. Dinner salads are very good sized with delicious house made italian dressing. And the garlic bread!

After a weird experience with our first server, we ended up getting a different server who was so much better and attentive. The tomato and cheese bread were amazing and the homemade Italian wedding soup was great! I liked the ambiance and the intimate feel of the restaurant.

It did have a good price for cocktails which was nice though! The espresso martini was great, however the beans were a bit chewy. I switched to an old fashioned made with Buffalo Trace and it was delicious though. Service was kinda spotty with my waiter disappearing quite a bit. Maybe they see a table with one diner and think they're not going to get a decent tip. I had to ask another server for something at one point which should never be the case. The food was good though. It was hard to decide and since I was on a budget with a work expense, I had to choose wisely and put the booze on a separate tab. The salad was good and fresh and their cajun French dressing was bad. I switched to ranch and was able to enjoy it. The Catfish dish was delicious and came with shrimp, lump crab and oysters. Nice portion size and I was mostly satisfied. The sauce was pretty good for being outside of Louisiana, but still not "authentic". Is anywhere outside of LA great though? Luckily, it was walking distance from my hotel so easy to get to from there. It's on a "frontal" road so you may be driving in circles if you venture here on your own. I'd probably see what else San Antonio has to offer if I return to the area though as it didn't blow me away.

It was very clean and I liked how new everything looked. They play some decent Latin music and there's a sort of trendy vibe to the place. The workers were friendly and polite. However, those are the only redeeming qualities about this restaurant. The food was subpar at best. We ordered their fried fish with fries as well as a tortilla soup. I also ordered one of their five dollar fish tacos just to try them out. The fish plate strangely comes with a slice of garlic bread and overcooked fries (I like crispy fries, but these were like biting into sticks of wood). The fish taco was probably the best tasting thing from this restaurant (the bar is pretty low), it's a filet of fried fish topped with a slaw-like sauce and sliced avocado on a corn tortilla. I did enjoy it, but I felt the price was a bit steep for what you get. The tortilla soup lacked flavor as if the chef was scared to add seasoning. Maybe if you are going for the drinks then this place would be okay. I cannot speak on their alcoholic beverages. But there's one last thing that sealed it for me and made it certain I wouldn't return. They have a "cash price" vs a "card price" on their receipt, cash being less expensive. I pay cash and I'm brought incomplete change. I suppose they do not carry coins. I am left with bland mid tier food, hard fries, and robbed out of my change. Listing cash vs card price on your receipt that basically encourages paying cash, then not having complete change when a customer pays cash is a very dull business practice. Eat here if you feel like taking the gamble. Would not recommend.
