I had a garage built by Capizzi, the garage came out very nice but in the process. I had them also replace my roof on my house, so the shingles would match those on the garage.. the roof ended up with a leak through the boot on the vent pipe and this caused me over $100,000 worth of damage in my house, none of which capizzi would accept as due to their work. my prevous roof went 26/ years without any issues, only after they did the roof did I have a leak but Capizzi refused to own the problem. Buyer beware! We had no choice to use this company as we needed a rubber roof and not many around that do this work. We had used them before for window replacement and that was a nightmare. After they completed job everything leaked. Had to have them back to repair it. This time with rubber roof they left an open area and over night it rained. Our interior door got soaked and they refused to repair it. Our one week job ended up taking 5 weeks to complete. Again beware read more

Waste of time. After reading these reviews, I'm glad they wasted my time which caused me not to hire them. They came and met with me for over an hour discussing work I needed done at my BnB. I was told the estimates would take a couple of weeks. Six weeks later, still no estimate. I completed a 'disatisfaction' survey with them, and they miraculously contacted me to see if I still needed a quote because they would provide it by Friday. I said yes. Friday came and went. Still no quote. If this is how they deal with giving estimates, I would not trust these people to do anything on-time and on-budget. read more

My 2015 review of Capizzi Home Improvement still stands! I have had extensive work done by this company inside and outside of my home since 1994 and I continue to rely on Capizzi for my interior and exterior repairs and renovations. This company is honest, reliable, and competent. Tom has always backed up the work and services provided and Gary is extremely knowledgable and easy to work with. It is not unusual for questions and concerns to arise in the home improvement industry. My experience is that this company stands by its work and most importantly, they are honest and reliable. I also rely on Tom and Gary to refer me to other companies. At the present I am replacing the gutters on my home and Gary not only referred me to three companies, he encouraged me to interview all of them and indicated the one he recommended, which was right on target. Since I know Tom Capizzi for many years, I know that he is keenly aware that his company generates jobs and that he is an equal opportunity employer. Solid businesses such as his are vital for the health and vitality of our towns. The negative reviews I have read on this site are disturbing because they contradict my experience with Capizzi Home Improvement over the last 27 years. I noticed that many comments arise from problems precipitated by the pandemic, notably supply chain issues and inflation precipitated by the pandemic. There is no question in my mind that Tom and Gary work hard to deliver the best outcomes for their customers, even when challenging issues arise. read more

I had heard good things about Capizzi so I contracted with them to install a PAVILION over my patio. The plan was for them to arrange delivery of a kit, get the building permit , then assemble the kit. We contracted on April 1st for this and the due date was to have it completed for Memorial Day weekend as I had a cookout planned with 50+ guests. 1. The Pavillion Kit was ready for shipment on April 14th, Capizzi was to schedule the delivery from Backyard and Beyond. Initially the delivery was supposed to be the week of May 11th but Capizzi accepted a change to 18th of May without letting me know of the change. They said that it would only take 3-4 days to install so they could still meet the Memorial Day due date. 2. The 18th of May the kit arrived and the crew showed up that on the 19th to find that the size of the Pavilion created some issues with the layout/placement of the pavilion. They unpacked the Kit and left it scattered across the patio, driveway, and part of the yard, (see pictures, of killed grass and blocked driveway.) Capizzi Management came by to discuss the options for placement of the pavilion and we reached an agreement that it could be moved to overhang the grill with the footers on that side being under the deck. But to make sure there was enough head room for anyone on the deck the footings would be raised 6 inches above grade. 3. The holes for the footings were dug May 20th, but the permit had not been approved so no inspection could be conducted. To dig the holes the deck was disassembled and the patio pavers were removed. Since there was no way for this project to be completed by memorial day weekend, it would have been my choice if informed that there was no signed off building permit, to wait until after the week end to dig these holes. As, I could have still had access to my grill and not put my guests in harm's way trying to access my upper deck and walk around my patio. The permit was signed by the Falmouth Building department on Friday May 22nd. 4. On May 26th the building inspector came out and accepted the holes for the footings but could not sign the permit because it was not on site. Joan dropped the permit off on May the 27th. 5. The concrete was poured into the footings on May 28th, but without the additional 6 inches above grade that we had agreed upon. 6. I contacted Capizzi telling them I did not think that the footings were at the right height and was told it was too late to correct this. The building crew is on site and is erecting the pavilion now. 7. Tom Capizzi came by to discuss my project after I told them to stop work. We reached an agreement for a work around to add in the 6 inches for head room and he promised to complete the project n a timely manner. 8. The week before the 4th of July the project was to a point where could use my lower deck and patio but the project is still not complete as of July 26th. But Capizzi did come by with a new bill that included charges for the work around for the 6 inches of head room and the costs for not being able to build the pavilion in the originally planned location that was surveyed by Capizzi prior to the shipment of the pavilion kit. The new bill almost doubled the original project price. A very unhappy client. read more

Capizzi hooked me on a siding job with a $24.5K estimate, one-third down, that got inflated to $51K to complete. The job: Restore the integrity of red cedar clapboard siding prior to painting or staining. Contacted Capizzi. June 11: Representative 1 recommends restoring the integrity by replacing up to 400 square feet of siding on two sides or the house, after which consider power washing. Contract signed June 11 for ~$24.5K with 1/3rd down. July 24: Representative 2 recommends power washing first, then replace and repair. Contract signed July 26 for additional ~$4.9K for power wash. July 27-28: House power washed (Total property power washed.) August 1: Work begins by stripping off the just power washed boards. Agreement made to replace two corner boards; additional ~$1.2K. August 3: Two sides of the house have now been stripped and clapboard is about one-half installed. Representative 2 calls to say the original estimate of 400 square feet on two sides was a little low. He needs an additional ~$24K to finish the job. Even though Capizzi assigned a Project Consultant and a Production Manager to the job, there was no conversation or agreement with the customer prior to the expanded scope of work. read more

We are what you call wash ashore people, here on Cape Cod. A bit after purchasing a house, it became apparent that we wanted to make some changes in order to make it feel more like home. Not knowing contractors in the area, we decided to test the waters with Capizzi Home Improvement, with a few simple projects, for example, building a ramp from our shed to the deck in the back yard. They arrived and the work was completed much to our satisfaction, and we decided that we'd go further. Since then, we have converted a breezeway into a room, which included raising the floor, and adding onto the back, as well as a new kitchen. We have also, had them replace an old deck with a new one, including a raised flower bed, 16 feet long. They have worked with us closely throughout all the work to ensure it met our expectations. We are very happy with their quality and dedication, specifically, thanks to Gary, Jimmy, and Dave. With that said, here's our experience from the financial side. First, we knew that they charged on the high side. But we've always believed that you get what you pay for and went ahead. But, to charge us $85,000 to replace a deck! Ouch. Then there were additional items added to this job, which finally came to $110,000. And there was no wiggle room. Even to the point of not putting two more boards, 12 ft long, on our front porch. I feel that this is a type of business where enough profit is being made that the cost of two boards and the associated labor, should have just been done. This is how you create return customers and good referrals. Fortunately, after pushing, the boards were added. Can I recommend them, for their quality and ultimate commitment? Yes. Financially, watch your backside. read more

We are currently having Capizzi renovate two bathrooms and are EXTREMELY dissatisfied. No changes were made to plumbing so sinks, toilets, tubs were in the same places. Even with no changes we were told the job would take six to eight weeks. It is now the end of week ten and they aren't finished and it appears it might be several weeks more. Many of the subcontractors Capizzi works with aren't that great (leave a mess, use homeowners tools etc. without permission, are off in a hurry to the next job). The project manager was difficult to work with. I could go on and on but the point of this review is to forewarn you NOT to consider Capizzi for any home improvement project from folks who know first hand. read more

I got an estimate from Capizzi since I was going to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. Not a big job. I was going to take out all of my old kitchen cabinets and countertops myself so they were just installing the cabinets that I had already ordered from a specialty cabinet company. We wanted a bigger kitchen window and in the bathroom a fiberglass bathtub replaced, a ceiling fan and new vinyl floor. After listening to their chest pounding Power Point presentation extolling how many organizations that they have joined we finally got to the price. $91,000! I almost laughed out loud! I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I'm getting the job done, apples-to- apples for under $30,000! Less than 1/3 of their price! Complete. Oh, and Capizzi said 8 to 10 week job. The company that is doing it will be done in 3 to 4 weeks. GET ANOTHER QUOTE from someone else before you have your wallet lifted by Capizzi!!! By the way, we took the time to write to the owner to tell him of our experience with his company and got a form letter back...with our names spelled incorrectly. Nice touch. I told some friends and they both said "Oh ya. They think they're good because they charge a ton! We could have told you to avoid them!" Now you tell me. I'm happy to tell everyone. They were consummate professionals throughout the entire project, from the initial visit to the final delivery of the bill. My husband and I feel that the job was competitively priced and well executed in a timely manner. Project Consultant Tony Pola and Production Manager Bill Reis communicated with us throughout the project, and kept us abreast of any changes in the schedule. We are completely satisfied with the job, the design detail, and craftsmanship, as well as the customer service throughout the job. We have had 5-6 projects done by Capizzi over the years, easily totaling over $100,000. They have always done a good job, however they were always the more expensive choice. This past time however, they were just plain dishonest with the billing - adding on several thousand dollars which they refused to itemize. Gary G. the project manager, talked in circles in response to our questions, first citing corporate confidentiality when asked about the billing. Tom Capizzi seems like a nice guy but I doubt that he is aware of what his project manager is doing, and if he is, shame on him. They had plenty of opportunity to make things right with us but did not do so and I can not continue to work with a company that is outright dishonest. I cannot recommend this company. Their work is good but they are more interested in squeezing every last dollar out of their customers than their reputation or generating repeat business. We had a screened in porch that we wanted to turn into a 3 season room. We got a number of estimates and decided to use Capizzi because we felt that their price was reasonable and they spent a great deal of time walking us through their design to finish process. (They even sat us down at a computer and helped us design a 3D image of the final project.) Thanks largely to the project manager Gary Gustafson, the project ran smoothly and Gary was there each step of the way to make sure the project stayed on schedule and the work was being completed as we wanted. We have had many compliments on the porch and it has added another option to relax in or entertain guests. A year has gone by and as promised a person from Capizzi stopped by to inspect the porch and see if we had any issues. We had none, but he noticed a seal in two of the double hung windows had a faulty seal and made a note to order and replace the windows as part of their customer guarantee. We have been very impressed with the workmanship, followup and professionalism of Capizzi Construction. read more

Hired Capizzi to reside front of house with cedar shingles and signed contract with them to do the job. When the crew showed up to take off old shingles I was shocked that no one was speaking English, mostly European and Russian dialect and music playing all day. When asking the guy in charge how many we illegal he responded that "you couldn't get any Americans to do this job" Yes, the job was good but we didn't sign with these workers. We signed a contract with Capizzi. The deck and steps were installed by a Capizzi employee and were fine. I previously worked for the Government and people have lost their jobs by hiring illegals. I asked Capizzi for copy of work visas and they blew me off. When hiring them ask who's going to actually do the work, their employees or subcontractors. That wasn't in our contract. Looking for an estimate on a small home repair job, I contacted Capizzi. Things looked promising at first - they took my contact info, we set up an appointment, and they followed up with a letter confirming the appointment, with contact info and a photo of their staff member that I'd be meeting with. The time for the appointment came and went with no word from Capizzi. I called them, they looked into it, and they realized they had a scheduling error, and asked if I could reschedule. We agreed on a new appointment time the following day with another associate. The time for the second appointment came and went with no word from Capizzi. This time I decided not to call and inquire, but to put my time into finding another contractor. A day later I received an apologetic phone call for "the mix-up". Talking to the employee who called me, it quickly became apparent that while she was apologetic about the first missed appointment, she knew nothing about the second missed appointment. Clearly it took quite a few failures in communication within their organization for Capizzi to miss two appointments, then not even be fully aware of what they were apologizing for. I've wasted one weekend making a long round trip to meet with Capizzi, who never honored either of their two appointments. I would not trust them with my home, and would not recommend anyone else do so either. read more

Had Capizzi remove two large sliding windows, and replace them with two fixed windows. There was substantial finish work inside and out, as I wanted them to reuse the custom finish pieces inside and match the shingling and window trim outside, all in cedar. The price was in the middle of the quotes. The lead carpenter was a craftsman. He and his associate worked diligently and cleanly. It is hard to believe the work is new; it looks original. I have had a vacation home in Marstons Mills for many years and Capizzi has been a reliable contractor on many occasions. I have had both interior and exterior work done: replacement of all windows and siding as needed, extension and improvement of the existing deck, staining the exterior of the house and garage, reconstruction of the chimney. During the past severe winter they were readily available to cure the ice dam problem. Capizzi has been responsive to my needs on a timely basis and I have been extremely pleased with the work and the people who do the work. I feel I can count on Capizzi. read more

After a rough winter and damage from ice dams, we decided to hire Capizzi, because we thought they would do a good job. Tony came over and checked out the damage, but we never heard from him again. When we finally called back a month we got an apology and the "we're very busy" line. It appears as if they don't want to waste their time on a $5000 project. Too bad, because I want 3 bathrooms remodeled as well, but they won't get the call. I'm surprised they've stayed in business all these years doing business this way. Capizzi Home Inprovement built our dream house in Wellfleet . I would recommend them to anyone!! The building inspector in town commented that it was one of the best built homes. It was so easy to work with all of the staff. Communication was key for us. Our house is everything we wanted and the quality is top of the line.
