Mike was punctual arriving upon my request for a quote on a new deck. I met with 5 contractors and Mike was the last one. He struck me as a "do it by the books" kind of contractor and I liked that. Permits were pulled, inspectors were lined up and this all made the job go well. Mike was communicative and explained with clarity what would need to be done. He always kept me in the loop as to what the next steps were going to be and did many follow-ups to be sure the job was being done in a timely manner. If I had a question, he came back with an answer in a timely fashion. During the project I hired Mike for my front door which needed replacing. I asked Mike if he could do it and within two days, the door arrived and it was hung. Mike used a sub-contractor, AJ Homes and I was was impressed with the workmanship and work ethic the employees of AJ Homes possessed. They were always kind and answered any questions I may have had. Mike did an absolutely amazing job with my 1938 beach cottage! There were many curve balls along the way that could not have possibly been anticipated and Mike did a great job of explaining what needed to be done and why. We can't say enough about Mike and his crew. They are the best. Due to a fire we had to rebuild our entire house. Mike's main concern was to get us back into our house as soon as possible. He said he could do that in 8 weeks! Unheard of. Mike and his crew never missed a day, working 8 to 10 hour days, some weekends and even on 4th of July. A few years ago we noticed a nice looking exterior shingle job and copied Mike's number off the yard sign in front of the house. We hired him to remove and replace cape cod shingles on our house. Back then he and his crew completed a prompt professional job at a very fair price. I can be picky and noticed the high quality of the work done and outside of our house looked brand new! It's hard to find honest, conciencious contractors who do quality work. When we decided to renovate our cape house kitchen, etc. in January 2021 we naturally thought of Mike as the one to trust. We live off cape and needed a general contractor who has many connections since the job required not just Mike's carpentry skills, but acquiring all materials needed and hiring local plumbing, electrical, floor refinishing and painting contractors. Mike and his brother Dave, were in constant communication with us providing details and photos of their progress as it happened. Their ideas and advice were invaluable to us. If something did not look right to us, we discussed it and they fixed it as promised. Mike showed flexibility when we decided to expand our kitchen renovation to include additional floor refinishing, additional indoor and outdoor carpentry, painting and installation of a water heater and AC/Heat split unit. He promptly renegotiated the contract price with us and informed everyone needed to complete the additional work. I could go on and on. Found Mike online last spring. I needed to renovate my parent's house after my mother passed. I met with three contractors and Mike was the third. Where as the second contractor said "maybe we should not pull a permit for this", Mike is by the book: Insurance certificate, Master builder license, brought in an engineer early on, pulled all permits. Mike and Dave gutted the kitchen, redid the bathrooms, installed new windows. He brought in great people for electrical, plumbing, drywall, kitchen design and sales, flooring, and window vendor. Everyone knows Mike and and all his subs answer the phone right away whenever he calls them. Everything came out great. He is very fair and honest and also a really nice guy. We have had multiple home improvement projects completed by Mike and his brother Dave who is an incredible finish carpenter. They are WORKING contractors. This is critical as they are on site performing the work in addition to supervising any subs. As brothers they take great pride in their work and never take a shortcut. Having taken over a large job mid way through, they fixed a lot of the errors from the previous construction and did not rip us off for the added work. You will not meet a more honest person, nevermind contractor. Anytime something came up, Mike took the time to show us and took photos if we weren't around to explain. Even with that, change orders were minimal and incredibly fair. He was always thinking about how to improve the project while keeping costs in mind. Simple upgrades such as lighting, a linear drain and vertical railing system are just a few examples. His subcontractors were respectful, very efficient and did the best work which included roofing, flooring, tiling, siding, electrical, painting and plumbing. Mike and Dave built a beautiful deck with stainless steel hardware since it on the water which others wouldn't. There was spot on attention to detail with moldings, shiplap and chair rails. Best of all, Mike was ALWAYS available and did not disappear as typical once we signed a contract or made payments. He takes on only a couple jobs at a time so that he can dedicate his time to your job and ensures that things go smoothly.
