In mid April 2018, I followed one of the Capitol Mechanical Trucks from Sacramento into my neighborhood. Once they, the driver, told him the reason I'd followed them was to tell them one of the tail lights on the trailer loaded with the seamless gutter supplies was out. Jason was friendly and seemed grateful that I'd made him aware of the problem. We talked for a few minutes regarding the seamless gutters. We talked briefly about my goal to have the ones on my house replaced. He agreed to come measure and get an estimate for me. Our schedules prohibited us from connecting but we stayed in touch via text messaging. After finally connecting in July, we nailed down some possible dates for measurement, estimate, etc. The delay in us connecting is not a poor reflection upon Jason or your company. In fact it worked out perfectly as I was "saving" for the job. On Friday, 08/03/18, Jason stopped by measured and estimated the job then left some of the materials needed to complete the job. We agreed upon a time for him to return the following day, and he and another guy showed up on time at the predetermined time. Being on time is huge for me, leaves a positive lasting impression. The estimate, which Jason gave me for per foot prices as well as disposal of old items was spot on. The rough pricing he gave me via text and that which he provided when he came to the property were consistent. The pricing was good. Jason and his partner removed the old gutters and down spouts, replaced them with the seamless gutters, down spouts and leave guards. Wow, it made a huge difference on the exterior appearance. I can't wait for it to rain so I can see the improvement. The old gutters may have been originals from the mid 1980's, were rusted and leaked. Jason and his partner completed the job within the estimated time frame. He kept me informed and answered my questions. Both Jason and his partner, sorry I cannot recall his name, were friendly, polite and represented the Capitol Mechanical name well. Customer service is another biggee for me. Jason and his partner cleaned up and left my property in great shape. This includes the leaves and debris from inside the old gutters, the old gutters and excess materials. This is another huge plus for your company. My entire experience from flag down about about the burned out taillight to installation, completion and cleanup including customer service, professionalism and everything else was awesome. The quality of the product is also excellent. And the price was better than two other bids I'd gotten - even though I already knew I was going to use Capitol Mechanical and Jason, I did my homework. I was referred to Capitol Mechanical from Jeff Macek, General Contractor. Ruben from Capitol Mechanical was punctual, polite, professional, and fixed the problem quickly. He went over the top of the service call and cleaned my heating unit as well (maintenance was definitely due). It works perfectly now and the service call cost far less than my previous HVAC company. More work needs to be done under the house and I am scheduling it with Capitol Mechanical. A lot of companies take advantage of widows... clearly not this company. Capitol Mechanical recently put in all new duct work that was desperately needed as well as a new unit in our older home. We had a lot of companies give us estimates. What was so impressive was that the owner, Gary came out to give us our estimate (not a sales guy that we would never see again) and spent quality time with us going over what our concerns were with our current system and why we felt it was time for a new system. Gary never once tried to up sell us and explained that he may not be the cheapest but he was the best. Little did he know...he WAS the least expensive and was also going to do MORE for us then anyone else we had met with. We now have a new A/C unit and all new ducts. He added in things that he never even charged for. His crew was professional and timely every day. We recently had the need to turn on the A/C for a few days and wow what a difference! The only problem we had was that one bedroom was not getting as much air flow as we would have liked. Made a call to Capitol Mechanical two days ago and Gary came out to our house today to adjust a damper (not the register...I can do that myself. Lol) to minimize some air flow in one of our rooms and create more in another. Of course there was no charge and he was super informative, professional and friendly as always. He made sure to let me know to call him anytime with any other questions we might have in the future. This company is truly top quality. It's clear he cares about getting the job done right and he cares about his employees because everyone of them were super considerate and very professional. I've used Capital Mechanical several times, and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I'm very cynical, and also well aware that there are a lot of shady people in this particular industry, so I have always gone into any contact with HVAC folks with caution, just to put my review in perspective. I own an older duplex as a rental, and about once a year, I have to have some work done on the aging HVAC system that came with the property. The first time, I called a different company, and they told me something major had to be replaced, special order parts, etc., at a cost of about $3000. I decided to get a second opinion, and called Capital Mechanical. Their guy came out the same day, determined that it needed something very simple and easy to replace, at a cost of about $80 total. Since then I've also had them out to my own home, because I was having trouble with a new system installed by a different company. That other company had gone "out of business" (in reality, they just changed their name, same owners, same everything, but they refused to stand behind the work done by a "different" company!). Capital Mechanical took their time to carefulyl explain to me and show me exactly what the other company had done wrong with the installation, which was causing my trouble. Again, it was relatively inexpensive to repair, like around $100, which is nothing when you consider the drive time, and other costs associated with running their business. Whenever I've called on them, they have rushed right out. Once, during a major heatwave, they told me I might have to wait a day, and they were extremely apologetic. Ultimately, they got someone out later the same day and took care of my problem. I'm also very accustomed to dealing with cost "overruns" when dealing with contractors. Such things happen, of course, but it has yet to happen to me when dealing with Capital Mechanical. On more than one occasion, their bill has been less than originally quoted, because the job didn't take as long as they thought it would. Understand, I'd already agreed to the higher price and would be plenty happy just to find that the cost didn't increase once the work was done! Bearing in mind also, that this was work done at a tenant occupied dwelling. I was not there to monitor how long it took. I think the nature of HVAC systems is such that there's always going to be people who are unhappy. I'm very skeptical of low rated reviews for this firm, especially those that give one star. So my family woke up one morning cold, and smelling a burning smell coming through the air ducts. Something was obviously wrong with the heater. I crawled around in the attic and pulled the panels off the heater and discovered the furnace was igniting and the burners were burning, but the blower wasn't blowing the hot air out. So, when I got to work, a coworker referred me to Capitol Mechanical. She is friends with the owners and said they do honest work, so I took a chance. A tech named Dave came out and within ten minutes had the problem diagnosed. It was simply a burned up capacitor, a simple $20 part. Talk about honest work, he could of told me it was the blower motor and charged me a bunch and I wouldn't have doubted it. Last week I used Capitol Mechanical for the first time to have my heater checked out before cold weather started. I had been using another company for 7 years and felt it was time to go elsewhere because of the way that other company pushed annual maintenance agreements. If a company does good work, treats me fairly and is competitively priced, I will use them again without the need for an annual maintenance agreement and basically paying them months in advance. Anyway, I was very impressed with Capitol's service technician, Brandon. He was such a pleasant young man and was so knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the main operating parts, why he was checking them or how/what could go wrong with a heater and how my unit checked out. I felt assured that it would keep us warm another winter and was glad I gave Capitol a try and would use them again. read more

Today was the second time I have used CM. The first time I used them, they save me thousands of dollars fixing my AC that Beutler Heat and Air said was not fixable! They did a flawless job and Nathan was very professional and knowledgable. The second time was today and again, Nathan was spot on and knew what the problem was right away. Recently I asked them to come by and diagnose a couple of problems at my church: a thermostat that would lose its programming every couple of weeks and a vent that was not putting out cold air. The technician was there on time and proceeded to check whether we had a plugged evaporator coil. He spent a good 45 minutes painstakingly getting into the sealed compartment to check. After noticing that it was fine, he checked the vent and discovered that it was a return instead of a supply air vent. He then concluded that the problem with the stat was probably a bad capacitor in the motherboard without even checking it. He offered to install a new stat but I declined. He then demanded payment of $162 for a little over an hours work- either cash or credit card. The immediate payment stipulation was not mentioned during the initial appointment. I have since discovered that the problem with the stat was a green corrosion on the battery contacts. A simple cleaning of the contacts corrected the problem. read more

Of course our air conditioner went out on one of the hottest days of the year. I called mid-morning and thought it would be a few days but they were here in a few hours. Blown fuse that Ruben found right away. He did additional cleaning on the coils since it was affecting our system from running smooth. VERY professional and VERY good and thorough in his work. Will call them again in a heartbeat for any type of repair needed. Prices good too for such a quick service call and no additional gouging for wanting it the same day. A++++ read more

Capital mechanical installed a new HVAC unit and all the duct work for my home. Gary is a nice guy, but tends to say whatever it takes to keep you happy. The work took much more time than expected and dragged on for weeks after the initial installation. I had problems with the system immediately. Gary's guys came out week after week to check the unit and make sure everything was working. to no avail. They could not figure out why it was so loud and the heat distribution was poor. After months of research on my end, I spoke with the energy commission and found out there was mandatory testing that Capital Mechanical was required to do prior to installation. This testing was NOT done by Capital and they had no idea it was even required and what the testing was about. This testing gives the installer all the information needed to install the proper unit and duct work. I had to hire another company to do the test and for results. Gary refused to fix the problem. I had to make a complaint through the state board and go through arbitration. I was refunded a small amount to fix the problem. I was not reimbursed for the testing that I paid out of my own pocket. And which is required by law. And Capital Mechanical did not receive any marks against his license. so there is no record on his license that he did not do required testing or that he had any problems with this at all. the systems sucks. This is a post service review. In 2014 we had a rental which we had been nursing the HVAC unit along waiting for the "right" time to replace it. Of course on the day of 102 degrees it dies and we can no longer duct tape it along. We called Capitol Mechanical and they came out within 24 hours to give us a full system review, and options. The process was seamless. With Gary and his portable office, he was able to give us the price, produce the sales/installation/SMUD paperwork on the spot and we had a new system installed within the week. 4 months later our own HVAC unit also decided it was not going to be duct taped any longer, and of course who did we call...Capitol Mechanical, who gave us a "repeat" customer special and again, service beyond the 6 stars.
