When it was time for exterior lights for my home renovation, my GC sent me to Capitol. Good choice They have a wide selection of display models in their showroom, and a seemingly infinite selection on line Most importantly, the sales people could not have been more pleasant and professional. I had to return a few items, and the returns were handled quickly and efficiently I went back today to buy a couple more fixtures. read more

Someone promised to call my husband, Don, a few days ago to find the missing "J" rods for installing our new Malik Large Linear Chandelier. That never happened. We have a new expensive chandelier that can't be installed, and Capitol Lighting dropped the ball. read more

We came here on a holiday weekend. Maybe memorial or 4th of July. Aimee greeted us when we walked in and was pleasant to work with. We told her we were looking for outside lights to update by our garage. She showed us a few options and we narrowed down our picks. In while doing so, we stumbled across a light we liked for our son's bedroom. Mind you, we were just looking for outside garage lights. But since there was a sale, we said to let's get all ! We couldn't have been happier with our selections. Aimee made the transaction seamless and no pressure. We appreciated that the most. We were there for maybe 45 minutes and was the easiest sale. Thank you for great service and a no pressure sale ! read more

This is my second chandelier purchase from this store. I love the quality of lights then offer for the price point. Today Ursula helped me she was extremely knowledgeable. BEWARE FEELING SCAMMED After Months of waiting on mirrors that were never delivered and prepaid for. I asked for a refund for the (2) mirrors that were over $900.00 plus tax collected.. The invoice was paid by my personal check for a total of 3 mirrors and 1 light fixture. Therefore I do not have a credit card company to dispute my issue. It has been over 2 months since first making contact about the refund. I was told we will get back with you. I have called 5 times about the refund to the sales person Marriane Murphy and to the store manager Gage Fraser and still no responce. I did recieve the 1 light fixure and 1 of the mirrors from the order. It is sad that the only way to get a possible resolution is to post on social media about a buisiness not being trustworthy.I would not reccomend doing buisiness with this store! read more

I stopped by Capital Lighting to see if they could repair a lamp for me. They don't do lamp repairs but I was still happy I stopped by. They were very helpful in giving me the name and phone number of a made that did lamp repairs. But more than that it gave me the chance to browse one of the finest in lighting, lamp, chandelier, and general lighting collection I've seen. Indeed, I'll be back as it gave me some good ideas on how to enhance the lighting and general décor in my home. With offerings of over 300 top quality band names such as Swarovski, Fine Art Lamps, and Hubbardton, I have nothing but good choices. Then, to boot, they offer a 110 percent price match guarantee on what you purchase. Can't beat that. read more

We just purchased a new home a made an appointment with Capitol on line because you receive 20 percent off total bill by doing so. We arrived earlier and Amy gladly offered her help. She is so knowledgeable and so helpful. She made perfect recommendations and made our experience perfect. We were not looking forward to spending hours choosing 30 light fixtures but she did it less than 30 minutes and knew exactly what would work best in new home. read more

Aimee Tuley is truly an amazing employee! She was not only knowledgeable in lighting fixtures but was able to help me choose an outdoor ceiling fixture that was perfect for my "very" specific needs. She was kind, professional, and spent a lot of time on a purchase that wasn't very expensive. Capital Lighting is fortunate to have her at their Fort Lauderdale store. Thank you! Debbie Y read more

You can see below we didn't get off to a great start. We're ending in a far more positive note. So here are some pointers and views of Capitol's pros and cons. Order Process: a mess. I believe the web interface we have access to is different than what the stores use and different than what the company uses if you call in. My advice, do your research on line (manufacturers' sites). Order from the store. Don't go near the web site as it's loaded with bad information that will only complicate matters. More on the order process: Audit, audit audit. if that means being rude, be rude. The systems appear to be difficult and mistakes are more common than we expected. Its not the sales personnel. They are quite knowledgeable and seem to know what they're doing. Shipping: Responsive (drop ship or in-house), no delays, very well packaged. Prices: Very competitive. We found it difficult to do better. Technical support: excellent both in store and if you phone the company. Do not use the website for technical information. Where we did it was wrong. Overall this is and feels like a family run business. In that respect we admire them for existing while the on-line behemoth sucks the air out of any choices we consumers have. On the other hand, its a bit quirky and takes a bit of attention when compiling orders. read more

Good selection but man the customer service leaves something to be desired. First of all- very few things are in stock- so be ready to wait. Then, the salespeople don't communicate. AT ALL. So, my salesperson, Robert (who was super nice) I guess has been away...? So, when my light came in, no one called me. Why wouldn't people check when things come in? Had I not gone into the store, who knows how long I'd be waiting. I've never heard of such a thing. It's not his fault for being out. Then, when I did go to see if it had arrived, the other sales guy essentially said "robert will be back tomorrow". How about YOu just go and check?? I'm already here. Behold! The light was there. Why would you ask me to come back?? Just go get it. Next light will not be from here. No way. read more

The worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Paid $902.00 for an 80" Outdoor fan. I dealt with Alan and the unit was supposed to be shipped directly to my home within 7 days. I called 4 times and spoke to customer service who promised they would have Javier the manager call me back. On my fifth call I was told that the unit was delivered by UPS. I never received it and again was told manager would call me back. I never got a returned call so I went and checked and found it was delivered to my neighbor. Hires an electrician to install in my tiki and the fan won't start. Once again called Capitol and Alan answered the phone. One again told me I have to speak to Javier who is only there on Monday. So now I am out the money for the electrician as well with no help from anyone. Alan says he has a sho room full of people and can't help me. Don't ever do business with this company. I will be calling the better business berrea Monday as well as my credit card company. read more

In our quest for lighting options, this was a beautiful store to shop for ideas. Jodi greeted us and was happy to point out some options meeting our desires. She was very friendly and did not make us feel rushed even while the store had multiple customers on this busy weekend. We were able to see multiple lighting choices both indoor and outdoor along with ceiling fans. There were also catalogs available if more choices were needed. The location is convenient at the intersection of Federal Highway and Sunrise Blvd. This is a higher end store with beyond the big box choices. Good luck finding the perfect lighting! read more

Went in to look- After working with Aimee decided to buy for the whole house. Ive been to the other, larger store in Boca but felt the service and attention here was just better. (you aren't a number and they are a partner in your project)... Gage, i think the manager? was also by to make sure we had everything we need. They found ways for cheaper options and me and my wife couldnt not be happier read more

Bought a really cool contemporary led floor lamp which was both expensive and defective. The holes in base were misaligned. I had to pay a Tasker over 60 dollars and he almost gave up. Luckily he had some smaller screws as he said the screws that came with it were too big for the holes. So if you want to say you bought your lamp at a high end lighting store think twice. This lamp was very expensive after all that. If you want Made in China junk Capitol is the store for you. I'll try Target next time. read more

We walked into Capitol Lighting 1/2 hour before closing on a Sunday and met with Wayne Lew. He was a perfect host! We had a look around and quickly found three perfect pieces for our bedroom. I would recommend Wayne and Capitol Lighting as your home lighting destination! read more

Very unprofessional company. Went in to buy a crystal chandelier. Sales lady ordered it a month and a half later no chandelier. Sales lady never called back. I called them they did not know what happened to the chandelier. Instead of saying come in and find some thing else they just refunded my money. I highly recommend not using this local company very unprofessional. read more

Walked in to this store with high hopes. As we entered the store we were barely acknowledged. We then walked the entire store, even by a conference room where salesman were munching on bagels, no one even looked up. Finally a woman asked if we needed help and by the way she acted, I clearly felt that we were intereupting her, couldn't wait to leave. Will not ever go back, there are plenty of other places that really want to please the customer. read more

I had a great experience with Wayne at Capitol lighting. He went above and beyond to try and help me and make my experience a positive one. He did just that and acted in both a courteous and professional manner. It was like dealing with my "Uncle" in the lighting business as he really cared and it showed. What a pleasure! Be sure to ask for Wayne. Also, Robert, the Operations Manager was also a pleasure to work with. read more

I had a great experience at Capitol Lighting. Ms. Cheryl Stephenson was very helpful. When I didn't find what I was looking for in the store,. she looked online and in catalogs to help me find a ceiling fan to meet my specifications. I really appreciated her assistance as I was beginning to be frustrated. I think this showroom has a very nice display. I would definitely come here again. Glwilliams47 read more

This location is at the corner of one of Ft Lauderdale's busiest street intersections. We came looking for pendant lights. They had a limited selection of pendant lights to look at in their showroom but nothing really appealed to us. The sales person stated that they make house calls in a consultant capacity which is a nice touch. Judging from the on-line searches, their prices are competitive and the sales person stated that they offer a 10% discount, I am assuming on in-stock items. They do carry ceiling fans, chandeliers, specialty lighting and much more. read more

Went into store with photos of my outdoor light fixtures that mysteriously stopped working (brand new construction house). I couldn't order new bulbs online until I figured out make and model of fixtures. Well, not only did Robert find my light fixtures but he looked up warranty info and found out they were still under warranty. He then called the company and ordered me replacement LED discs (unfortunately these are not screw in light bulbs)! He explained to me how to take out and replace the new disc LEDs and is having them shipped directly to my home. All at no charge. This experience is why people should shop at their local retail stores and NOT online! Great customer service! read more

(Posted original review at wrong location, but it's ok. I am a very happy customer!) :) I cannot express enough my gratitude for the service and selection at Capitol Lighting. I just purchased my first home (yay!!) and I went in their store in Fort Lauderdale looking for two fixtures - one for the bedroom and one for the living room. I was assisted by Robert, who went above and beyond to assist me in choosing my lighting fixtures and when I had a problem (user error) with installing my lights. The price was better than anything that I could have found with any other competitor but the service I received is keeping me a loyal customer. I will not buy my lighting anywhere else!! read more

Positively the worst experience buying a light. Positively the worst customer service after the light was delivered (late) and another part needed to be ordered. They order the wrong part. After all that Capitol Lighting did nothing to expedite the order overnight at their cost. Very bad place. Save your time. Shop elsewhere. read more

Finally my lights will be fixed. Javier was/is great. He came right out after my explaining that I bought the lights from the store in Boca and the transformers keep blowing out.
