Kung pao combo
Steven C.

Really fun card room located off 16th street near Richards blvd on the outskirts of downtown Sacramento. I often come here and try my luck at poker. Have yet to win big here but breaking even feels like a win sometimes. The food here is really exceptional. I kept hearing from friends about how good the small kitchen here is and was blown away when I finally tried it. The smart move it to come in the evening when the Chinese menus opens up. All the Chinese food here is really good. The spicy pork is a favorite of mine. Their fried rice is always good. I also like ordering their house chow mein noodles. The pho here is bomb! It's a huge bowl that they fill with a lot of rice noodles and huge chunks of meat. The broth is amazing. I always try something different here and have yet to have a bad meal.

A review of the casino's restaurant/cafe... impressive selection variety having appetizer, breakfast, lunch and dinner which features an Asian menu. Food: Sweet chili shrimp - 5/5 - delicious, loved texture and flavor; highly recommended Smoked Gouda Mac bites - 5/5 - delicious, loved texture and flavor; highly recommended Seafood delight - 5/5 - savory mix of sautéed seafood and veggies Thai red curry chicken - 5/5 - very tasty House / combination fried rice - 5/5 - outstanding taste; top tier fried rice! Definitely my favorite dish here! Shrimp and salmon scampi - 5/5 - very tasty; definitely highly recommended Kung pao combo - 3.5/5 - delicious flavor; unfortunately beef was too chewy and not enough shrimp House / combination chow mein - 3.5/5 - not bad but not strongly recommended Wonton soup combination - 3.5/5 - wontons were only pork filled; liked the additional pork and shrimp Pho chicken - 3.5/5 - mediocre Ambience: The cafe is part of the this small casino Service: Very personable

Teriyaki chicken little bit dry

very good service was first confused because the dining room is closed but you sitting in the lounge area then you can order your food? minie was our waitress ! so nice and took our order! she started up the fireplace for ambience, but I was cold. It was great. I ordered the Kung pow combo.my husband ordered the teriyaki chicken he said it was dry not good but mine was excellent. We got potstickers and chicken eggrolls. Both are great. We'll definitely go back or something different but I love my kung pow and good service! .

Beef pho is always a hit! Tried the salt & pepper fish with fried rice... BOMB! Service can get busy since there is also a bar in the restaurant. Tables and floor are always clean, music is always on and jukebox is always a hit!

Pho here is a bit pricey, but after a night out, it's worth it. Probably one of the best late-night pho spots I've found, consistently hitting the mark when we're in the Capitol area. My family and I often come by after midnight, and while the service is decent, it could be even better if you're a friendly customer. Overall, it's a great place with a nice atmosphere, delicious food, and good times with family.

The food was so yummy. The wait time for the food was within like 15-20 minutes in total. That includes appetizers! The service was friendly & attentive.

Came here to see a kings game.. food was ok. Good place to watch sports and small bite... but they do have a full menu.

Our favorite late night spot. We have only tried the Asian menu and so far everything we have ordered has been delicious.

we heard about their menu for chinese food and wanted to try their entrees. Staff were extremely pleasant which contributed to an enjoyable meal. we ordered the following: 1) chicken sliders: tasty was our friends response and she enjoyed her sweet potato fries The chicken patties were deep fried and uniformed in shape- which probably means pre shaped frozen 2) club house: OMG- huge and the sandwich was good. also prepared without mayo as requested. The turkey slices didn't appear to be from a freshly roasted bird but it also wasn't a cheap packaged deli cut either. crispy bacon, fresh tomatoes- would order again 3) Spicy garlic shrimp and fish fillet: both dishes looked fantastic. tons of garlic and jalapeños-but didn't contain any heat. the shrimp was cooked perfectly but fish fillets were oily. These dishes are "go to" dishes at many Chinese restaurants and although the entrees looked good, i would order these entrees from a Chinese restaurant instead. I would like to try their Pho and won ton soups when the weather gets colder.

Stopped by to try the pho - it's good! And they're not stingy with the meat! Oh - there's also a casino here, if you're interested in that LOL + people who walk around & give massages. Nice, chill vibes!

California Benedict, yum!

Every dish we ordered was flavorful and memorable, and the quality of the food was easily the highlight of the evening. That said, given the restaurant's reputation and price point, we expected a more elevated dining atmosphere. The seating consisted of simple bench-style arrangements that felt more casual than anticipated, and the smaller layout made the restaurant quite loud and crowded during peak hours. Since every table was full for the holiday, conversations carried easily throughout the space, and the lack of high-backed seating offered very little privacy between tables. We had also anticipated a slightly more upscale ambiance overall. My girlfriend and I dressed for what we expected would be a fine dining experience, but the atmosphere leaned much more casual, with many guests dressed in jeans and T-shirts. Of course, this is more of an observation than a criticism, but it did contribute to the experience feeling less refined than expected. In the end, the outstanding food ultimately made up for many of the atmosphere-related shortcomings. While the ambiance did not fully align with our expectations for such a highly rated restaurant, the quality of the cuisine absolutely stood out and is what we will remember most.

First time visiting. Stopped in on a Thursday after seeing a play at Broadway Sacramento…read more We tried a wide variety of small plates to share. The fare is Mediterranean inspired in a classy mid-town vibe. THE PROS: Wonderful ambiance. Our server, Ferzan, was top notch, both with her service and suggestions. Upscale casual with lots of high end touches. Live jazz and some classic style harp music the evening we were there. We each had a cocktail, split about small plates, and did a dessert. There was not a bad dish in the bunch, but my wife and I agreed the stand-out was the Filet Mignon skewers. Delicious. Cooked perfectly with a wonderful parsley/onion garnish that made an amazing flavor combination. THE CONS: Only a few very minor things come to mind: The shrimp dish, while quite tasty, was a bit salty. A couple FYIs: The lighting, while it made for nice atmosphere, is a bit on the dim side for menu reading. Also, their fresh baked bread is wonderful, but it would be a real plus if it was complementary, because it really goes great with their food and dips. More is better. And to me this one's a head scratcher... in the dining room with moody lighting and classy music they had a big screen tv with ESPN on the whole time. To be fair, the sound was off, but if you were there to watch sports, they have a nice bar with two other screens in there. It was totally out of place in the main dining room. BOTTOM LINE: Yes. Absolutely Yes. It is great for date-night, or any other night when you want a comfortable high end dining experience. PRICE: Items range from about $20-$50 each. Our total was about $150

On that Sunday, it have completely slipped our minds that it was Mother's Day and of course we were starving and had no reservations nowhere. Thankfully, this restaurant was able to squeeze us in so for that I am appreciative. The restaurant itself is Moore downtown style restaurant in a larger hotel and it was busy with a lot of families naturally having brunch and they had a selective menu, but there was still good options to pick from. I went with a classic option of eggs and sausage and potatoes and their portions are very large. It was pretty tasty. I also got a couple of espresso martinis, which were well-made. The service was decent, but it could've been better. She wasn't as warm and friendly as one would've hoped but maybe she was just having a rough day. From what I've seen on social media and here on Yelp, it looks like their dinner menu options are very popular so it's difficult for me to rate it based on that as I had a classic breakfast option but overall it was pretty decent.

Gorgeous wine glasses and lovely dishware. Smaller portions, so eat alot before or order lots. There was a complimentary bread service with bread from ACME in San Francisco. I love ACME, so no complaints here. Loved the cultured butter. I would stay stick with the wine here. I had a cab that was divine, esp in the glasses they had. It was probs bold to order crudo 2 hours inland, but it sounded/looked good, so we risked it. We had the hamachi crudo with rose petal vinegar, pickled kumquat, lemon oil, and nasturtium. I really enjoyed the kuquat addition. The plating was beautiful. I know blue cheese is controversial, and I can appreciate the controversy. I, however, LOOOVE it. Sue me. My friend feels the same way, so we had the radish and blue cheese with point reyes bleu cheese, apple, celery, grape, candied pecans, apple cider vinaigrette. The celery and grape were unexpected, but paired very nicely. Since they just transitioned to the spring menu, we decided to get somthing that screamed spring: snap peas. The dish was charred snap peas with harissa lebnah, white chocolate vinaigrette, and picked herbs. I did not get any of the chocolate flavor. I was expected the sauce to be mixed in, but they were served side by side. The sauce was good, but I wish it was mixed. It was way spicier than expected but in a good way. For our entrees, we both had pre looked at the menu and had pre decided we both wanted themiso black cod with the thumbelina carrot, charred bok choy, sesame crumble. Also on the plate was pickled purple daikon. This was such a good bite. I could have eaten a whole bowl of that stuff.

Our attendant said no issue at all however, what came in its place (after the steak was served) was a sad bowl of spinach and not sure what else). However, it ended up being one of those places that looks great but is solidly mid, and is questionably expensive to boot. I got the beet salad, which was more like an artfully arranged minimalist deconstructed salad popular in the mid-2000s. While the beets themselves (an exaggeration, when recombined there was a total of one (1) beet) were good, it came with these weird rubbery smashed goat cheese disks that were bland and seemed like they were premade a week ago. Like the saying goes, "The food was bad and there was not enough of it." For my main, I got a burger and fries, which was... fine. It was an okay burger. The fries were also just okay. But for the price they really should have been MUCH better. Plus, it's one of those tall, unwieldy, towering burgers that guarantees an underseasoned patty and unintentional deconstruction during the meal. On my way back to the south bay I got a way better burger for way less at Cali Kid. My service was actually quite good - my waiter was very attentive and checked on me often, and was friendly and engaging. Ambiance-wise, it's very cozy with a cabin, public house vibe. I feel like it might be a better place to get drinks and soak up the relaxed vibes before a main event elsewhere. This place could be so much better if they just tweaked the food a little... or a lot.

If you're vegetarian, temper your expectations. I wanted to love this place but the plant-based options were limited to bar snacks: cauliflower bites, fries, hummus, a single salad, and mac and cheese. What's frustrating isn't just the selection, but the missed potential. Not one veggie sandwich option. The stuffed peppers could easily have a meatless version; the Brussels sprouts didn't need bacon; the farmers market salad could offer prosciutto as an add-on rather than a default. Small tweaks, big difference. A little more intentionality here would go a long way. On the bright side, the bourbon flights are a real highlight, and the space itself is a win - open, airy, and flooded with natural light, making it perfect for happy hour. The gastro pub vibe is genuinely cool, and you can tell this place has a lot of potential. Meat eaters and whiskey fans will love it here. Vegetarians, though, will find themselves grazing on sides and calling it a meal. If you're plant-based, my advice: grab dinner somewhere else first, then come here for the cocktails - because those, at least, won't disappoint.
