Valley Peak Construction - Gazebo post that was hit by tractor with bucket on it. Beyond repair, had to order a new post.

Valley Peak Construction

Valley Peak Construction LLC was not qualified to take on a project like mine. The quality of work…read morewas extremely subpar, and as of this writing, it appears that Quinn Wendt, the owner of Valley Peak Construction, was not insured as he claimed when he was on site. Fortunately, for me R. Schuh Services, Van Zealand's Landscaping and NJ Paltzer did excellent work completing the project as I envisioned and repairing the damage Quinn Wendt caused. In order to keep this review at a manageable length, and still allow you to draw a conclusion, I will summarize the events as they unfolded. Quinn Wendt is the Owner and CEO of Valley Peak Concrete Construction LLC. Contracted with Quinn Wendt to remove concrete from around a tree stump and then repour cement in the area. Quinn provided an estimate that I agreed to and paid him for the cost of the concrete. He cashed the check immediately even though we agreed nothing would happen until early to mid-July about three weeks later. Issues started the first time Quinn showed up and continued until I told him he was done with the job. Issues include: * Claimed he was fully insured but according to the insurance company he gave me, he is not insured * Claimed that he would reimburse me for part of the payment I made to him but has not done that either * Every time I talked with him, the plan had changed * Equipment didn't work (likely a stalling tactic) * Brought equipment too large to fit in my yard * He wasn't careful with the equipment; damaged the flagstone pathways, gazebo, and almost took down the electrical wire coming to my house * Ground was not prepped to pour cement; you don't pour cement over 5 and 6 inch chunks of broken up cement, which I ended up having to rake to one side so the tree stump could be ground out more * He was going to pour cement over large chunks of cement that was broken out and never removed, which also meant that the stump could not have been ground down properly * Would not communicate with me after being let go

Avoid at all costs. Hiring Quinn was the biggest mistake…read moreI've made in home projects. The work was beyond substandard--honestly some of the worst craftsmanship I've ever seen--and then he ghosted me before the job was even finished. Examples: He used flimsy 1x4s to form the concrete, so every straight run is wavy. The finish work is sloppy to the point of embarrassment. The concrete is barely a week old and already has a crack running through its full depth. Our deck looks like trash--he literally screwed straight into the middle of composite deck boards. This isn't just "bad work"--it's work that leaves me with no option but to tear it all out and start over. Thousands of dollars wasted. If you value your home, your money, and your sanity, do not hire this guy. See you in small claims court, Quinn.

In 2024, we hired Spencer Concrete after bidding the concrete projects with a few concrete…read morecontractors from the Fox Valley. Our concrete project was in Appleton, so we got estimates from a concrete contractors in Appleton, Oshkosh and one from Green Bay. Spencer Concrete bid for the concrete driveway was right in the middle for price compared to the other contractors, and the stamped concrete was the highest price but their work looked substantially better than the others. The concrete work Spencer Concrete provided, proved we made the right decision with choosing the right concrete contractor. Not only was the work exactly what we were looking for but the customer services was awesome too. The driveway ended up being pitched just right, and I really liked the flexible forms they used to make it curved in areas. The stamped concrete patio is timeless! We chose to go with a Belgium slate stamp where it looks like a big piece of natural stone. I feel we made all the right decisions with this project, usually that doesn't happen. Thank you Spencer Concrete!

Ghosted. I called them and they came to look at the area…read morewhere I wanted a patio and sent me a quote. The quote was pretty much blank except for their prices, but it also had a bunch of fields that made no sense. I called and asked the rep for clarification, especially the section about adding a lien on the property. he had no idea what to put into those fields. I want to make sure I know what I'm signing for and I'm not leaving any of those unknown fields empty. They didn't get back to me. I called a few times and left voicemails, emails and nothing. I called their phone number and talked to someone in a call center and no one has gotten back to me. It's a big red flag when I question their form and they don't respond. Make sure you take a good look at the quote if you decide to work with them.

Heaving and lifting. We had issues after the first 3 days!!!! They promised to come and look at it after bill was paid in full ONE YEAR AND A DAY- THEY sent out their Pave Solutions ( never did they see the issues themselves after numerous emails, pictures calls and texting) only to be told " it was one of the worst they seen and they couldn't fix it" Pave Black refused to return any messages. Please save yourself the money, time, trust, frustration- look at the reviews and BBB. Feel free to come and see the horrible job they did on our driveway. Their talk is unreal!! Spencer will try to threatening you. John and Spencer are the most dishonest people. Spencer would rather " update his contact annually"- to cover his poor work than strive to do HONEST QUALITY WORK! They did NOT deliver on quality, service, honesty!! They made zero attempt to fix their bad choice of skimping out. Cheated us for what we paid for. I made have been left with a loss of thousands of dollars but I don't want others to deal aa so many have by this group. I wish I could leave all the pictures- absolutely the worst!!

So far they've been great for us. The most recent example was today. I had spent the entire morning trying to get our sump pump to work, and had tried everything to thaw the pipes. I had come to the conclusion that maybe it was the pump itself that was having issues, so I decided to give them a call. The person I spoke with was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and had someone sent out same day to take a look. I believe his name was John and he was excellent. Super friendly and knew his stuff for sure. In the end it did turn out to simply be frozen pipes, but John took care of it, and not to mention had to work outside on the coldest day we've had in a long time. Excellent job, Sure-Dry, keep up the great work!

I hired Sure-Dry 3 yrs ago to fix my basement walls. Prior to hiring them, I sent them videos of my basement walls protruding water, like a broke dike would do. So, not only was my basement getting tons of water in it... but you could physically see that I had severe cracks & structural damage in my walls. Several other companies come out to provide me a quote. Unfortunately, I opted to hire Sure-Dry. *** I specifically asked the sales person and the crew supervisor why they wouldn't have to dig the outside perimeter to correct my problem *** They're answer was " Ohhh, we don't have to do that anymore " I am an average home owner, I did my research, but you're also hiring PROFESSIONALS, LICENSED COMPANIES who make you believe that you can trust them. When they started my project, they assured me that these " magical drain tiles " would resolve & correct my problems. When the crew began, the workers were extremely kind, however after the work was finished, Sure-Dry had to come out repeatedly to correct things that weren't done right. I had to call them SO MANY times. I worked my way up the branch of command to get help. ****My basement kept getting wet, every time it rained *** I would call them every time to have someone come out to address the problem. This company refused to call me back. Luckily I kept a log and took pictures over the past 3 years. On 9/4/26 we had a lot of rain. My sump pump alarm went off at 4am, I went down to basement, suddenly water came leaking in from every wall by the floor. I immediately called Sure-Dry. Of course they don't offer 24hr emergency service. I left them a message. 1 hr later I heard a THUNDEROUS CRASH !!! My bearing wall had now totally COLLAPSED. I had water & mud up to ankles. Mud had now traveled through my entire basement & lower level of my house. My living room, bathroom, bedroom & office. EVERYTHING GOT DESTROYED !! I left another message, frantically telling them of the collapse. By 9am I had called in another 5 times with still no response back. It is now 9/25/26... this unscrupulous, fraudulently based company has yet to call me back or even come out to my house to view all the damages. I spoke to the GM: Nick Rainer on 9/11, now a week later. He promised to speak to Cory ( project manager) about situation & come out that following Monday. I proactively sent Sure-Wet a certified letter requesting a cure for damages. After 10 days the GM ( Nick Rainer) sent me an email, stating they have forwarded my situation to their LEGAL Dept. OMG ... I have a 25 yr warranty from this company !!! And still no call, no apology and no visit to my home. I began & attempted to call every contractor, foundation repair company, restoration service etc.... But no one was available, due to working the Menasha tornado project. Please view all the detailed pics of the basement wall COLLAPSE !! My State Farm insurance company denied my entire claim ... EVERYTHING Toby, Vince & Tony were the crew that water-proofed my basement. They ALL went up & beyond. They were very expeditious in completing the job, and were so KIND for assisting me with small items I needed help with. I decided to go with the " wall braces" that were recommended to ensure my walls / foundations stay in place. I requested the same crew to come back for the additional repairs. The only downside that was visible to me, would be the appearance of the white wall sheeting that was applied. The pictures and how it was described to me when I received my quote were totally different. The pictures showed a tight white sheeting that appeared to be flat & adhered to the wall. The sheets on my walls are loose and not that appealing. Toby explained what the sheeting was actually meant to do, therefore the need for the loose fitting. I might suggest that when siting an estimate and providing different options to the customer, that the " Wall protection " be explained a little better.
