My basement flooded every spring and through summer. My house was built in 1946 and no sump pump was installed, and I live next to a large river so the water table is pretty high. I had water coming up through the floor and coming in from the walls. I had a few estimates to "waterproof" my basement. I knew that it was going to be expensive, so I wanted to make sure I found a company that actually cared about my situation and wasn't money driven. I called ABT and Dan came out within 48 hours to take a look at my basement and give me an estimate. Dan took his time, measured and took pictures of my basement. He gave me an estimate; again, I knew it would be expensive, but the cost was pretty competitive with the estimates I had already received. What pushed me to decide to use ABT was the fact that they actually cared about my situation. I opted for the whole package - sump pump and under floor bleeder lines and baseboard system. Once I gave them the go-ahead, they put me on the schedule quickly. It took 3 days to finish the work and each night, before the Jermellio and his crew left, they made sure to clean up. They were very respectful and explained to me what it was that they were doing each day. On the last day, they explained to me how everything works. All was great! About a week after the system was installed, I noticed that water was seeping through a crack in the floor. I called Dan and told him about it. No hassle, no fuss - they got someone out immediately to fix the problem - no extra charge. Great! About a month after the install, I noticed a lot more water coming up from one section of the basement floor. Once again, I called Dan and he had someone come out and assess the situation. After about 45 minutes of testing the system and taking measurements, it was discovered that the pitch was off on the bleeder system under the floor and the water was not draining properly. Again, no hassle, no fuss, they got someone out to my house - dug up the concrete, re-pitched the bleeder lines and tested it - works great, poured more concrete and it was finished - only took a couple of hours. Again, no charge. Bottom line, ABT cares about their customer satisfaction and will not stop until the customer is satisfied with the results. The slab they mud jacked still slamted towards house. They are coming to fix it but why not done right the first time? Also did it in the rain which im worried about the longevity of it. Lastly argued with me in the phone saying that work that was quoted was actually done and I owe them for it. I would use someone else next time. Edit: they did come back and rectify. read more

I can't say enough about the professionalism of this company. We had Mickey come out to look at our job about a year ago. We had been experiencing water in our basement after heavy rain downfalls. He gave us a bid that we felt was fair and competitive other companies. Mickey persistently followed up with us twice to see if we had made a decision about if we wanted to use their company to do the work. The following spring, Mickey came out again to review the project with us and we signed a contract with ABT. It did take a couple of months to get on their busy calendar. Once the day on the calendar arrived, ABT called to confirm the time when they would show up. The crew was outstanding. The leader, Jonathan, was very friendly and looked over the job with us prior to starting. The crew of 4-6? workers were excellent. They moved a patio rug so as to not cover it with dirt. Impressive! They neatly stacked up patio tiles as they were removed. After they finished the work, they cleaned up the space so well, it looked much cleaner than when they had arrived. Thank you ABT! Work was done efficiently, but quality was not a concern, nor customer service. I had the beam system put in my basement, and almost all of the welds on the beams have major defects, ranging from porosity to cold welds, all which reduce the intended strength drastically, and in the case of the porosity-ridden welds, will allow it to rust much faster, and can crack. I'm told by them it was not a big deal, it's not a major weld, that the other two welds are also there for strength (the other 2 welds look terrible as well), and the way the system is designed it will hold. That's not really the point, sub-par, bad quality work was done, and they won't fix it because it's not convenient for them, as they don't have the equipment to do it without re-doing the whole job. Point blank, if they themselves had the same quality work done in there home, they wouldn't be happy either. I'm told that if I'm not happy with there work. I'm supposed to hire someone to fix it, at my expense! From the quality work I saw, these people shouldn't be welding, the fact its structural is scary. My opinion is they only care about getting paid, once they get paid they don't care about you, or there work they did. read more

We bought a house that ABT had installed their system. We have had constant problems because when they installed, they did not install the drain next to the foundation, nor did they drill into the cinderblocks to allow for drainage. They installed the drain about 8" away from the wall, and they also did not use any kind of membrane to prevent sand from getting into the sump well. We have had the float on the sump pump replaced 3 times due to the fine sand in our area getting in the system. the first time for free, the second time, they charged us $150 for the "Service Call", and when it failed less than 6 months later, I insisted it be replaced for free, and I gave the technician (who was great) some screen to wrap around the float. We have also had their float system controller say the system is working, yet the basement suddenly had 2" of water! Due to their installation, with no drainage holes in the concrete block, we now have a wall that is bowing inwards slightly. Do not use this company! I now have to spend $6000 to redo our basement with another company, which, coincidentally, is what ABT would charge to install a vinyl baseboard to route the water around the perimeter to "fix" the problem they did not fix the first time! read more

ABT has done 3 projects for my home. They installed an egress window in my rental home and it looked great! For my personal home they fixed my basement by adding a pier under my fireplace but the project that most impressed me is the recent one. We built a huge deck on our home and we live on the fox river. The guys installed 18 piers in my backyard. They really worked hard and did an awesome job! A class act! read more

After rescheduling my project several times ABT was able to settle on a date and time. The day before I get a friendly reminder of our appointment coming up the next day. The day and time arrives, but no ABT. 30 minutes passed our appointment time I call the ABT office, no answer. I call again, no answer, I leave a message. Finally get a call back stating they will not be able do the work as they do not have all the parts for the project. Wow, I've taken time off for this. General Manager could not have cared less and did not appear to understand why I would be upset over a "miscommunication". I cannot comment on workmanship, but these guys need to work on customer service, really bad . . . I cancelled the project. read more

Their reliability and service in terrible! I would not recommend this company. Their brand new system failed over the weekend resulting in water in our basement. I contacted them through several means. Monday as of 9:00am no response so I called again only to be told by their service manager and office Mgr that they are "to busy" to check messages. Their service manager stated they do not respond to emergencies on weekends...if you use them and their system fails on a weekend plan for a flooded basement. They do not cover damage to your property due to their unreliable systems. STAY AWAY from these guys! read more

For the most part a good experience. The sales representative was very informative and gave me various solutions to match my budget. I did have to wait a little bit due to two cancellations. I must admit I was not happy the second time and got snippy over the phone, the contractor handled it very well but there was a lady at the office, who could have been a wee bit nicer about it. We rescheduled and despite me being a grump, the contractor was very nice and did a great job. The guys were respectful and communicated well. They repaired a wall crack in my basement that was leaking, with the Urethane injection system and Dry Right crack repair, they cleaned up the floor around the area and put down new concrete on my basement floor, where there had been damage to my tiles. It's leveled out now so that I can more easily replace the tile. My basement is dry again and I'm happy, they also gave helpful suggestions for other measures I can take to prevent damage to other sections of my foundation. I have an older home that was not well maintained by the previous owners, if I need any work in the future, I feel comfortable calling them again. read more

We had ABT install our drain tile and sump system a few years ago and were satisfied overall with the process and the completed project. This year we began to have water get into our basement via our basement windows, and called ABT again to come take a look. They said they could dig out our window wells from the exterior to the bottom of the foundation and install a drain down the foundation that would tap into the existing sump system, then backfill the hole with gravel, which we agreed to. The team arrived and went over the plans with us, and the foreman specifically stated they would tap into the existing sump, and even had the appropriate drain piece that they would use. Once they had the hole completely dug, I was called over and told that they couldn't tap into our existing system because we have an interior, not an exterior drain tile. I stated ABT installed the system 3 years ago, we had the same sales rep for both projects, and they were was aware of this when they quoted the project. At that point, there wasn't much we could do, so in the end all they really did was dig a large hole and then fill it with gravel. While they still warrantied the work, this became an extremely expensive hole. When I spoke with ABT about this, they claimed "miscommunication," however, it was stated very clearly to us both during the sales process, and on the morning of the installation by the crew, and also evidenced by the fact that the crew had the actual materials there to tap into the drain tile, that there wasn't a miscommunication. I don't feel like there was any sort of intentional bait and switch here, but clearly what we were sold was not what was delivered. We could likely have had a landscaping company dig a large hole and backfill it with gravel for much less money. At least they will honor the warranty for the work and our basement will hopefully remain dry. read more
