You do not have to be a capital one card holder to order at this cafe, although I have heard word that if you do, you receive certain discounts and perks. I ordered the cinnamon maple latte (a seasonal drink). It was sweet and yummy. The cafe has many tables, nooks, and group areas to work in. Capital One cafes have been hit or miss for me. I like that they provide 1/2 off for capital one card holders on crafted beverages . Southport location is easily accessible via brown line stop right in the shopping corridor . Staff is very friendly there and always greet you going in. I like the coffee there ( Verve) but surprised at how many fee outlets I found around the place to plug in my computer . That would be my one ask . The cafe is just average. The drinks are not the greatest but the cost is a decent deal if you're a member. However the work space is awesome and there's even private rooms available if you want that too. Depending on when you go, it could be really crowded or open with seats. Lots of seating both downstairs and upstairs. Nice and quiet atmosphere suitable for studying/working. If you have a Capital One account, drinks are 50% off which is great, and you can also reserve one of the "nooks" (semi-private room with table/couch) which I found very useful for a study group. The coffee and breakfast sandwich were tasty. Service was slow (I think they were backed up with orders) but friendly. Have been to this location multiple times and wish there were more capital one cafes around! Its a great place to get work done or study with food and coffee options. This is a cafe and internet hotspot where you can do some fringe banking. I already have a couple of accounts and have been trying to open a checking account here for 3 weeks. I just got married and making the name change was easy but trying to open a third account has been torture. My husband tried opening a checking account and the site keeps crashing and we were sitting INSIDE the cafe! You can only make deposits online or at the ATM, no cash, no checks etc. This is not a serious bank, it's just something simple for millennials. read more

I started coming here over a year ago when a tall Hispanic gentleman opened the door for my dog and me. Everyone was so kind and I was already a customer, so it became my go-to place for hot and cold beverages and remote work until several months ago. Now I only go in on Sundays and before 11am when the new manager gets there. She is openly hostile and rude to the employees and to customers with dogs. She hovers over us like we are doing something wrong when we are just working. What was once an upbeat and vibrant community cafe is now gone. One younger girl, Lanna, regularly looks like she is going to cry when I see her upfront. It is so sad to see how the influence of one individual manager can ruin the experience of customers and employees alike. read more

I love the atmosphere here! It's a great spot to study or do work in with a lot of natural light as well as table space. I also really appreciate the nook spaces that are available for a more private area. I'll definitely be coming back to take advantage of this space, unsure if we need to reserve them or not. Tha bathroom is also pretty nice with looking clean and smelling fresh. Came for the $1 all drinks deal in the month of July and August Friday through Sunday! They were well crafted and you cannot beat this deal anywhere else. Had the cold brew oat latte with jelly, matcha oat latte with jelly, chai tea latte, and strawberry tea shaker. Really enjoyed all the drinks besides the matcha as it barely had any flavor, but other than that would come back again! 4 stars for the coffee and the space. 5 stars if they would have left my non-profit use the empty meeting rooms they advertised for free. Turns out, they don't allow non-profits who are affiliated with religions or political movements. I would recommend getting there close to opening in order to take advantage of one of their 4 nooks (small meeting room). Guests will bring lunch and spend an entire day in those rooms. No dice here. There is plenty of seating, but it feels like a bank that's missing its tellers, not like a cafe. There is no bank in this one, but there are three CapOne liaisons or such standing in the foyer. They are bored, bored, bored, I tell you....I am wearing slides, and I slipped my sock-clad feet out of them and sat cross-legged on my chair. One of the bank reps quickly hustled over to me to explain that, because they serve drinks and food here, they can't have feet on chairs. Uh, what? On the one hand, no big deal. Capital One cafe is trying to create this concept of combining life and banking through their openings of cafes all over the U.S. It is a delightful concept that reminds me of branded airport lounges like the one their competitor, Amex offers. Obviously different audience and crowds for the two, as Amex and their Centurion lounge is not comparable to Capital One's open-for-all cafe. I swung by one day when I was in the area and heard about their $1 handcrafted drinks for the month of July and August. Can't really beat that promotion, so definitely had to take advantage of it. I ordered the strawberry lemonade fruit tea shakers. Really refreshing for a hot day. The inside is nice as well. This specific Capital One Cafe had two floors. I gotta say - when I first saw this coming to the neighborhood I wasn't thrilled. I just didn't love the idea of a huge bank turned cafe being on the cornerstone of the adorable Southport Corridor. But as time went by, I finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. The staff is incredibly friendly. From the person greeting to the barista making your drink, they have a natural way of striking up conversation that doesn't feel forced at all. Also, extremely helpful in deciding on a drink to try! On this visit I went for the strawberry lemonade black tea. SO refreshing and perfectly sweet! It's Peet's, so you know the coffee is good too. The inside space is currently closed for COVID, but they have a giant retractable window making me believe it's the perfect spot to stay cool under the AC while enjoying the sunshine. The second level looks to be a nice spot if you have to take a call or want a little more privacy. I think they even have meeting rooms! For the time being, we enjoyed our drinks on the patio, which wraps around the corner for more seating. The tables are accompanied by a giant umbrella to keep the sun off your back. Wifi was good even from the patio. I have only good things to from my visit. After judging it hardcore....I've officially become a fan! read more

I came in on a whim after learning about $1 handcrafted drinks Friday-Sunday for the month of December. I selected the horchata oat milk cold brew which was delicious! It was spiced and sweet and creamy. I was even given a complementary pack of peppermint bark! My total was $1.10. Can't beat that! The ambience is wonderful. The cafe has tons of windows and it's very naturally bright inside. Many small tables and benches on the first and second floor making it a great spot to do some work. Love this little spot on Southport for a great place to work outside. They have a Peet's inside, where I got a strawberry lemonade black tea which is so refreshing! The outside space is great to work from or enjoy your coffee. The employees, both at Peet's and working with Capital One, are friendly and welcoming. On one hand, so nice to have a space where my dog is welcome! Troy, an employee, came up and gave her a treat - so nice! On the other, at 8 months pregnant I had a sudden need to use the restroom (as pregnant women do). Wasn't sure where it was, but prior to walking upstairs to find it I thought I would scope out the downstairs area. Part was roped off, but I gave a peak in that area as well prior to hitting the stairs. A Manager, Alfonso, took me completely by surprise by yelling "why would you want over a stanchion?" Like dude chill... I'm waddling my ass around here before I pee my pants looking for a bathroom. Super aggressive... def didn't like that one bit. It wasn't bad because I like cold brew, but I was a bit confused by how little coffee there was. I am not sure if I will go again :P but it's not a bad spot to try out at least once. read more

I came here because I've missed Peet's coffee. I am a fan! Well, this is an interesting concept, I must say. One just popped up in my neighborhood! Anyway, I asked for my standard dirty chai. I was informed that they only had decaf espresso beans. Uhhhhh okay. Just a regular chai, then I guess. There was only one barista working. So the workflow went as followed: She took an order, rang them up, and made whatever was ordered. Not super efficient, but being the only one there, she didnt have much of a choice. There was a table right when you walk in with 2 Capital One staff members. I was expecting a credit card spiel, but thankfully, they were just welcoming. So many reasons why... * I'm a bank member, so I get to enjoy the free ATMs. No offense to Capital One, but they aren't the greatest about fees if you don't use their machines. So, this was the first reason I visited anyway. * As a member, you get half price drinks from the coffee bar! That includes the hibiscus tea thing. $2.50 for a large. Great deal! * The environment is great, very clean space, very soothing. I would have brought my laptop and done some work here, if I were looking for that kind of experience. * Decent beverages - beyond just the discounted price, the tea was really tasty. * They have a wide variety of beverages and snacks.
