I recently visited the Chase branch located in 340 N. State St. Chicago, IL 60654 on 3/15/12 at around 4:45pm CT. I had to stop in to sign my signature card due to non-receipt at mailing address and also to resolve the sign-up bonus that did not get credited to my account. I was greeted courteously by two bankers at the window and was soon seated with one of the bankers who was on duty at the time. I do not remember who the banker's name is,m but he printed the signature card for me to sign right away. After I signed the form, I asked him about the sign-up promotion that I haven't received. I wanted to make sure that I had done the sign-up process correctly when I was applying online a little over a month ago as the online message system told me that they do not see any promotion code on my account. Immediately, the banker told me that he may not be able to help with the issue as the sign-up was done online, and had I signed-up in the branch, they would be able to enter the code correctly into the account. I would say I am a fairly tech savvy individual. Opening an account online would not have been anything difficult for me, however, the banker made me feel as if there was something that I must have done incorrectly and the best option is to sign-up at the branch. He suggested perhaps that I should call customer service and see if they would be able to help. I explained to him that I have already contacted customer service via the message system on chase.com and was told to stop by a branch to have the issue resolved. The banker reluctantly proceeded by looking at my account and confirmed that there was no promotion code, which I've already mentioned to him that that's what I learned form the message system on chase.com. I asked if there was anything he could do. He answered:" If the account is opened for more than 7 days, there is nothing" he can do. He did not provide further direction or suggestion. I am not sure if it was his lack of willingness to help or simply laziness, he did not offer to look further into the issue or discuss with his manager to see if other solutions were available. I left the branch with frustration from his lack of effort shown and his lack of willingness to provide further direction. I went immediately to a different branch located 605 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60611. I wanted to give it another try and see if someone else would be more helpful. I was again greeted courteously by a personal banker. I discussed with her the reason for my visit and she asked a couple of questions and then sat with me to look into the issue. She pulled up my account and again did not see any promotion code in my account. She discussed with her manager to see if there was other solutions. After she came back, she called the fulfillment center to see if they would be able to look into the issue. I provided them with the promotion code again and they do not see any errors during the sign-up process, however, the rep informed her that they would look into it further and contact the banker within next day or so. I thanked the banker for her help and told her how appreciative I was with her service even though the issue was not resolved right away. She was really helpful and willing to help and went above her effort to providing an answer for me. She called me back with the updated as she promised and I greatly appreciate that. I hope that the manager at th3 340 N. State St. branch would be aware of situation similar to mine and hopefully this doesn't happen to others in the future. I also hope that managers at the 605 N. Michigan Ave. branch will notice this and praise properly to those who provide exception service. Thanks! read more
