This place has a vast collection of both rare and/or obscure video game items. Plus, with these people, I can trust that the games are 100% legit. I have bought so many games and equipment from this store, and never had a problem with my game purchases. The people there are really chill and helpful. Usually when buying vintage games and equipment, you have to be wary because it involves a lot of money, and sometimes with shopping online and other stores, you may get something that's fake. This place has an impressive collection of harder to find older stuff but you are essentially there to look because everything is at least 20% more expensive than the going price. Also half the store is just amibos. You can tell the sort of ownership you're dealing with when you walk in the store and notice they don't have air conditioning on in the summer. I feel bad for the staff (who are great). A LOT of the games also do not have prices on them which feels shady. If you really NEED a certain game, chances are they might have it but you will pay more than what is fair in all cases. This store takes all the fun out of video games. There is no fun in being taken advantage of. They prey on uninformed consumers who don't know any better than to pick up a $15 game and pay $40 with a smiling face. So many times have I walked into this store ready to spend some money on some retro titles to bring home for the weekend. 9 times out of 10 I leave empty handed and disappointed at the lack of fair pricing or willingness to negotiate. I've kindly offered fair prices for games, and explained that I could get them way cheaper on ebay, still trying to give them my business in an effort to try to support and keep physical stores alive, just to be declined even after associates look the games up on ebay and see themselves that the games are overpriced. Unfortunately, it's come to a point where it's cheaper to sit on my couch and let games be delivered to my house than to shop at and support this local business. Really sad. read more

Walked in and asked for a specific game and if they had it, he knew immediately that they did and pointed us in the direction. Everything was alphabetically arranged which was SUPER pleasing and extremely helpful! Not sure of the employees name but he had blonde wavy hair and was super chill and accommodating to my boyfriend and I. Cleaned the disc for us and made sure everything was in order. picked two ps4 games one was new priced at 29.99$ and other was used priced with sticker at 26.99$ and when I got to the counter they refused to sell me on their own sticker prices ! claiming that eBay was selling for 100$ and up ! very shady business ethics and I have heard bad things about this game store and I got to experience it for myself I WILL NEVER RETURN and I would advise no one to shop at this overpriced rip off of a store ! read more

They have a decent selection, but the prices are way too high. I've heard the owner would rather not sell his stuff and take it to the grave with him, which I do believe. He also owns a store in London and a newer store in Westerville, which have similar issues. He also owns part of Game On on South High Street and doesn't have that issue for whatever reason. Worth a visit if you're a fan of early retro video games. A nice selection of Atari 2600/5200/7800, Colecovision and Intellivision games. Great to see a game store with offerings predating the Nintendo Entertainment System. I didn't see any early consoles or microcomputers for sale. No early computer software or games. read more

Where to start. From the parking lot it appears the almighty Zeus heaved a vanilla Frosty all over the front windows. Windex and paper towels? Ain't nobody got time for that! Maybe the windows were permanently etched by Dionysus' acidic gastric juices. Upon entry my nostrils were assaulted by the stench of Demeter's spent gym socks. The small container of Purell in my pocket was my only defense. I didn't dare brandish such a weapon just yet. My spirits were raised by the large assortment of retro games (specifically for the device we worship as SNES). Hopes were quickly dashed when I saw the condition of the cartridges available. Most looked like they had experienced many great battles and had been left on the field of battle. Some in such bad shape that the Gods had summoned a Sharpie to mark their title. Discolored and ripped of label they sat without any indication of price. Considering their conditions I briefly assumed they were free. Further inspection revealed the tarnished treasure chest in the form of the glass case/store counter. The counter glass top was obscured with various stacks of junk so lowering yourself to peer into the chest was the only option. The cartridges were expertly arranged with their backs to the customer, hiding any indication of their title. Only by contorting your head and squinting could you make out the small text titles on the tops of the rows of cartridges. They had all the rare titles, Wild Guns, Earthbound, Mana. My heart raced only to be dashed moments later. Nothing in this store has a price on it. I queried Bacchus about the price of his treasures. In each instance he had to summon knowledge from the higher power referred to as eBay the almighty. Quoting prices well above eBay averages, regardless of the horrid condition some of the cartridges were in, I knew I would only be gazing upon these treasures, they were not meant for commoners such as myself. Save your money and protect your immune system. Almighty eBay delivers SNES carts, in better condition and for lower prices, to your door. I believe they also sell used movies here, and perhaps discarded socks. read more

Same rules as a pawn shop apply here. There are no prices on any of the merchandise; pick a game to ask how much it is, they go on eBay to see how much it is selling on there for, and then they make up a price for you in the spot, usually adding a couple extra dollars for themselves. Kind of shady, but I'll know to negotiate the next time I'm in there. read more

I bought two games, not realizing there was overlapping content, (one was a collection that included the other) totally my fault. I went back to the store expecting to only get trade in value for the one I didn't want since all sales are final (like all game stores). The employee apologized for not catching it when he rang me out, and let me exchange it. The replacement I picked out was a few dollars more expensive, and when I pulled out my wallet to pay the difference he just said, "Nah man, your good. Sorry I didn't catch it before. Hope you enjoy the games!" I mean, holy cow. How cool is that? I was completely willing to accept my stupid mistake, and instead they treated me like a friend, not just a customer. I have always had good experiences here, but this just confirms that I will always shop here for my games instead of that corporate mega chain that rips everyone off. I'm not usually one to complain about things, but there is a pandemic going around and what happened today is kind of insane. So I have been on the search for a switch all day because due to COVID19 they are sold out everywhere. I called and checked to see if they had any and they had one used one left. On the phone, he said it was $289, I thought this was a little steep for used since $10 is brand new and even Nintendo sells used ones for $270. I go in to pick it up after talking to him on the phone and ask about buying the switch. He then says that he won't sell it to me unless I buy two games with it. Even used the games are around $45 dollars. I told him I didn't think I would be able to afford that but I would buy one game and he said he couldn't do that since it was the last one and they are sold out everywhere else. I understand that it is basically a pawnshop for video games but still, there was no willingness to negotiate. You would think that a local business of all places wouldn't try to price gouge at a time like this. read more

I've been a customer at Capital for a few years now, its gone through remodeling, and new ownership, all for the better. They're one of the few stores that offer decent trade in value on both video games and magic the gathering. Their prices aren't spectacular as they usually go by average selling price from eBay (for video games) or TCGPlayer (for MTG) You can trade in both interchangeably, and this is the ONLY store in central Ohio that does that. The staff is generally nice, although each individual has their strengths and weaknesses as an employer. The store and it's people have character, and they aren't out to rip you off the way stores like gamestop and soldiery are. read more

Been here a few times now. Not the best game store out there but they have a lot of the old systems and games that you can't really find anywhere around here. I've bought a few games from here and haven't had any issues. It is a pretty cramped store so it can be a little troublesome getting around when it's busy or if people are using the tables they have set up. All the employees that I've talked to are friendly and seem to know their stuff. I have noticed that not all of the games have prices on them. It gets a little annoying but it only takes a minute for an employee to get me a price. Their prices for a few things seem a tad high to me but for the most part they're fair. Aside from video games they also have Magic: The Gathering cards and Friday Night Magic events. The only cards I've really bought from here were an event deck, which was about the same price as you would find anywhere else, and a Fat Pack, which was a few bucks cheaper than I expected. I did sell them a few cards I had that I thought would be worth something. There were a few they wouldn't take but they gave me a pretty good deal on the ones they would, at least compared to what I thought they were worth. All in all, a good store with good employees, a selection of older and newer games, MTG cards and events (if you're into that), and mostly fair prices on games. read more

Then when you ask how much something is they take 10 minutes to look on ebay and quote you the highest price. Theres always kids playing magic the gathering and blocking all the racks so its impossible to browse. The staff is dumb and does not care about the customer. I went in on Friday (7/22/16) to pick up a copy of Pokemon HeartGold. They had some used loose cartridges and some used boxed copies. The boxed copies were marked at $79.99 and the used were unmarked. When I asked for a price on a loose cart, the guy behind the counter looked it up and said it was $109. When I asked him why it was so much more than the boxed copy he looked at the box then told me he could take $5 off. I told him that Gamestop sells or for $50, and he blamed Pokemon Go for the inflated pricing and told me to take it up with the manager when he got back. It is sad when you are price gouging higher than Gamestop by over double the amount for a loose cart game that every other store in town sells for between $40-$45 for the same thing. It is no wonder they sit on stock, avoid this place at all costs. read more

Capital carries collectible games that are hard to find. However, the games are often dirty, and likely don't work. Be sure to have the game cleaned and tested. Also, don't arrive at the advertised opening time of noon. It's likely no one will be there. read more
