I still walked in, and even though the lady was the only one working and in the middle of fitting a group of little girls for pointe shoes, she stopped to help us find what we needed. I really appreciated her taking the time to help my daughter and me. Now that's great customer service.

Buying in person is better, and it's a feel-good store with a fairyland aura. It's owned by Della Stewart. She's almost always there, but she has at least one employee on premises too. At busy times I've seen 2 employees plus Della. If you dance, or if your children or grandchildren dance or take dance lessons, they will have what you need. Della has always been nice to me, but probably sees me as a clueless old man who is buying something for his granddaughter. Which is true, of course. It used to be in a highly-visible location for which it was impossible to find parking. They are now in a funky building a couple of blocks away, with more than enough parking. Enter at the back from Madison Street, just past Grand. (Madison Street is where KFC/Taco Bell is, a block away). They don't refund for returned items; they give store credit. But their computer is very good at keeping track of it; it's indexed by phone number.

Today was the last straw. We went for some nice tap shoes and went there having researched them online at Bloch and talked to our dance instructor etc. This lady does it again, mind you she's not the one helping us but boy does she have unsolicited opinions. My daughter was doing moves in the shoes to see how they fit and the lady was saying things about the fit and how we should go smaller. I had to say at some point that " I know my kids foot and how she doesn't tie things well" just to get her to stay out of it. Long story short we go with the bigger size. At the counter the lady again walks UP TO THE COUNTER and points at the box and said a comment along the lines of " that's the size they chose huh? I don't do refunds!" This is exactly why we go to dressed to dance in rancho Bernardo and avoid this place like the plaque it is. Dance parents, please do your research and follow your gut in regard to how your particular child's foot grows. Had I listened to her the shoe would've been too tight. A $250 shoe that they don't do returns on! The Bloch website itself recommends sizing up 1- 1 1/2 size from your street shoe size. Who in the world does this woman think she is to try and bully me (because let's face it that's what she was doing ) into purchasing a smaller shoe. We got home and voila! The shoes are a perfect fit with a smidge room left for a last minute growing spurt. They fit perfectly fine with no slipping at all. Maybe their customer service is better for the clothing and accessories but for shoes go to Dressed to Dance in Rancho Bernardo. Not once have we had this bullying situation with sizing with them over there.

But besides that, I seriously have had issues. And I buy shoes, a LOT. Specifically Aldo shoes. I came here this afternoon to return a pair of shoes I bought with the guy here last time that I had ordered at the store online... After going to UTC without my receipt and being denied a return, I called Aldo got all the info and came back here. Great thing was the manager didn't even give me a hassle...but... She was really rude! Like I've had her before, and she's the manager and I'm sorry but (not) she rubs me the wrong way. I believe last time I came I had really crappy service from her and this time, I even remembered her (I think I may have given her a slight piece of my mind last time) and so I tried to be diplomatic.... Unfortunately it started from the get go... She asked me 21 questions. She brought out the shoes I needed but gave me a cap at 4 shoes and wouldn't bring out another pair until I decided to remove a pair (that I hadn't even tried on yet) and made a point of telling me she does it because her store is "small"... Um, I've been to many Aldo stores and they're all SMALL, If I want to try on 5 pairs of shoes I will- what if I want them all (this is very well possible with me)... I didn't fight her on this though... She came back within like 3 minutes asking me if she could take any away (to give me the others) and I hadnt even put on the left shoe for the first ones I was trying on #fail...and when I calmly (ooooh as calmly as I could) told her, I was working on the first still...she got kind of defensive... Like she was slightly annoyed... Long story short, I found the shoes I wanted. I tried to be as nice as possible but I almost walked out and just returned cuz she gave me the worst service, and unfortunately the other girl there did too. I felt like I was being scrutinized for being there and like I wasn't to be trusted with even the bag of shoes I had initially bought because she took those from me from the get-go... And again, upon closing the sale...I had a 15% email signup and she even asked me if I had used one already and noted that I already used on the last ones... Like SO rude. As a customer, please don't belittle or insinuate anything. The point of service is to be nice and make sure I'm happy. And yes that I don't steal anything but I've been in here so many times by now that they should literally know me as customer of the week LOL. So...at the end of the day, I'm spending money and if I want to use three/four/five or ten coupons, as long as they work so be it. The point is to get me coming back. I seriously almost want to write a letter to corporate on this. Only cuz it's so lame! I love Aldo so I'll keep buying their shoes but looks like my main store is gonna be UTC from now!

Pointing to a specific area of the store and her answer was "not everything you have is from there", what a bad answer, I said "I know Im just asking if everything there is 6 dollars?" and then she left is ridiculous Im obviously never going back to this specific location since its more than obvious she insinuated that I was trying to trick or scam them or whatever the word is, when I asked such a simple question. It was also a special run to celebrate 10 years of Fleet Feet, which was very fun. Lots of shoe demos here by Saucony, Hola, Addidas, etc. There was also a snow cone truck here too, free cookies and beverages were being given away. I couldn't stay for the raffle but heard a $200 gift card and some sneakers also given away. Yea! I'll def come back for this Wed fun run club! Will alternate between Lake Miramar and here!
