I like Capers + Olives for happy hour. Cons: I wish happy hour wasn't so early, hard to enjoy it while still at work. I wish they had more for alcoholic drinks. I do not like that they reserve tables and then won't seat people all night. On numerous occasions, I have been with a table of four, without reservations. We get asked if we made them, no, we are given a guilt trip and then seated. While we are there the "reserved" tables sit open for hours. It has never been packed when I have been to eat, however, I have watched them turn people away. Not a business practice I understand, but, not my business. Pros: We typically get the Focaccia, meatballs, Buratta, and the bruschetta. The menu changes seasonally? This last visit we got the Bucatini and Rigatoni. They were very good. The food is always great. The service is good. They just seem more excited to chat in the open kitchen with each other rather than help customers. The restaurant is very small. The kitchen is open and they cook near the tables. It can get smoky but they have a rustic storefront leaving the windows and door open as part of the ambience. We continue to return, maybe 1 time a year. It is not our go to but a back up. The food is what keeps us coming back. read more

We went here for the first time a couple of nights ago and were impressed by the food and the service. It's a small, cozy restaurant serving Bistro style gourmet dishes that are as pleasing on the eye as they are to the taste buds. We had a pasta dish with shrimp and ground sausage in a buttery sauce and a grilled chicken dish with zucchini, and both were absolutely amazing! The only negatives were that the portions were not big, but that's typical for a Bistro and were actually the right size portion compared to the monster sized platters served elsewhere and we had no leftovers to take home. But other than that, well worth the experience, and I definitely want to go back to try their other dishes! read more

This cute homey restaurant is located in downtown Everett off of Colby. When you walk in you will feel right at home. The menu is small but has the perfect amount of options. From starters, to pastas or just a few protein options. Then the dessert. My wife told me about how good their ice cream was but unfortunately they had changed the dessert menu. Come to find out, it changes often for what's in season. The plating had a very nice presentation and the taste was outstanding. The staff seem to love what they are doing and are having a great time doing it. Our waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable, and quick with refilling waters and getting our order taken. Our server (bartender) was soooo slow. She brought 2 out of the 3 drinks. We asked after the third drink which she said she hadn't made yet because it was "so packed." There was only 3 tables total (us being one of them) with only 2 people each. The other one had been there for a while already and the third table came 20 minutes after us. Drinks were ok. Not great, not terrible. Just basic. The cook served our food- she was much friendlier and the food came out faster than the drinks. The food was decent and fairly priced. I've been here a few times now and the quality is so consistent that I had to leave a review. The location is perfect with an old brick facade located in downtown Everett. It's an open kitchen, you can watch your dish being made from anywhere in the restaurant. It books up quick so call to reserve. We started with the pear salad. It's so good it will Make your eyes roll back...perfect balance of sweet, crunchy, and salty from the Parmesan on top. Next we're the meatballs. Juicy, saucy, and savory as hell. We also ordered the focaccia bread. Do not skip on this! The main dish was the rigatoni. It's my absolute favorite dish there. The pasta is so delicate and soft. The sauce is savory which comes from the house made fennel sausage. I order mine with extra! ! I have had other dishes there as well and none have disappointed. Service is good, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only opportunity for the restaurant on the last visit were the dirty glasses we were served water and beverages in. They actually ran out of clean glasses so the waitress had to go back and wash them herself. We decided not to drink from them due to the debri in the water. It's a little loud inside the restaurant so we opted to sit outside, the only drawback was an adjacent sports bar had frequent smokers we sat downwind to but not too bothersome. My girlfriend and I met here for our monthly visit. Free (2hr) parking can be found on the street. Credit cards are an accepted form of payment. Indoors is small, open and clean. Amazing natural sunlight flows through the windows. Happy Hour is not available at this time. While looking over the menu, we shared a bottle of 2016 Linen for $45. A small selection of beer and cider are also available for those who don't care for wine. For starters we shared the Bruschetta for $12.50: nduja, pickle shallot, goat cheese. Tasty but on the chintzy side with only three pieces served. We ordered the Cavatelli pasta for $18: hedgehog mushrooms, sage and black pepper. Delightfully creamy and delicious. We ordered the Tagetelli (subbed pasta for Bucatini pasta) for $18: Bolognese, mascarpone and mint. While tasty, we both preferred the Cavatelli. Service was friendly. There was no wait without reservation as we came in on a Monday night but I can see this place bustling and lively on a Friday night. Getting out of the cold, we stepped into a small, warm, and cozy restaurant. The lighting is dim but not too dark, creating a relaxing ambiance. Noise level was low and able to hold audible conversation throughout the meal. They have a a good wine selection to choose from, though the beer list is small. A thoughtful, fun cocktail list is available as well. We started off with the bruschetta. Served on several toasted, crispy crostinis. Flavors of goat cheese and spicy pork mesh well alongside the pickled shallots to create an appetizer packed with flavor. For our mains, we ordered the Paccheri and Prime Hanger Steak. The Paccheri had amazing home made pasta with a lovely cream sauce and generously sized prawns. The steak was nicely charred and cooked perfectly to our preference of medium rare. Wow this was the best dinner I had in years!!! We moved to Everett from portland Oregon and I have had a VERY hard time finding good tasting food. Me and my husband have not been on a date night for many years but on November 5 th we went out without kids for our anniversary! Doing some research on " Yelp " I found this restaurant and it had lots of good reviews so decided to try it and wow!! It was clean quiet and nice atmosphere and they were very helpful answering my questions! We got two drinks they were good :) my husband got the steak potatoes and Brussels sprouts he ate at all :) I'm a picky eater but got the Delicada squash noodle dish and it was amazing!!! Made a reservation for my anniversary with my girlfriend. Arrived five minutes early and we waited to be seated. Nobody came to speak to us so we found a table ourselves since there were plenty available. We were unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves but we thought it was better than awkwardly standing by the door. Some more time went by and nobody came over to us so I went to the counter and before I said anything, they said they were coming to our table. I went back and sat down. The Starters of Bruschetta of Focaccia Bread were O.K. a bit soaked in oil. My pasta was Paccheri with calms, several of the clams were not open, which means they were undercooked or bad. When I mentioned it to the waitress they did bring me replacement clams, but did not apologize for the dish not being prepared correctly. This dish was not very tasty for the cost and we had no bread served at table. I give this place an A for effort and service by the servers but a slight dip in the grade when it comes to the food and pricing. I had a work function up north so decided to give it a try and low and behold it's located right where one of my favorite Hawaiian eateries used to reside. I'd opt for their happy hour time when some items and drinks on the menu are cheaper. We started off with the Focaccia Bread with an herb butter and parmesan and the meat ball soaked in a tango sauce with olives, tomato, sage and pecorino. The meat ball itself was a tad hard and maybe there wasn't enough filler. For the main courses we had the spaghetti with a meat sauce, tomato, chili flake and basil and the Srozzapreti with fennel sausage, english pea, lemon and pecorino. The presentation was nice but unfortunately the noodles were a bit hard and if cooked a bit longer would've been al dente. The ambiance was nice and a very homey setting. read more

The service was immaculate and our waitress made our drinks and OH MAN it was obvious that the dirty martinis have been perfected over time. We ordered a couple appetizers and entrees. My wife loved the pear salad which was light and acidic with a slight buttery aftertaste. The kale salad with blueberry vinaigrette was top tier. Both salads had a layer of fresh grated cheese on top. The olives appetizer had crispy fried basil and it was so good. Our entrees were the pasta bolognese and the pork chop which were both really damn good. At this point in the dinner I was two martinis deep and already quite happy so I might be biased . I could not put my finger on the sauce. It was slightly sour, like lemon forward perhaps? Not creamy as in cream but maybe butter or oil with a slight amount of cornstarch for thickening? This is a very good dinner place, hovering on the verge of around 4.5 stars for me. I'll happily come back for a full dinner or to hang out and snack a bit. It's probably the best of the downtown Everett fine-dining scene. (Yes, there's more than one nice restaurant around here). We showed up on a Saturday night when the Tips were at home, and luckily scored one of the few open parking spots downtown. Right across from the restaurant, too! Places were packed. There's a pool hall next door and they had a line, huge as the place is. There were just a couple tables left in the restaurant, but we had a reservation and they close at 8, so it was still clearly a busy night. They sat us next to a 10-top that was clearly living their best life. It's got a big wall of windows with two long exposed-brick walls. It makes the most of the older buildings downtown, and gives you a great urbane feeling. It's kinda loud. They might want to add some acoustic baffling, because it gets so busy--and noisy--in here you can't hear the music, and the servers have to lean over to talk to people. The tile floors here are super slippery for some reason. I dunno what kinda cleaner the supply houses up here are selling places, but this is not the first place where I've felt my feet starting to move under me even when I'm standing still. If you're as clumsy as I (evidently) am, look sharp! We sat at a little 2-top and read the menu in seconds. Very focused. A few nice wines, some cocktails and beers, then a team of appetizers, team of pastas, and a couple entrees. Easy to zero in on what sounds good, but hard to narrow down your final picks. The servers are always zooming back and forth, taking care of everybody. The dining room is small, too, so you really never wait for water, fresh candle, anything at all. Our rose prosecco was in the glass in a couple minutes. Dry enough to enjoy with anything. We started with radicchio, which was incredible, and I'll probably order it anytime I'm back--sweet golden raisins and salty fresh-grated parmesan playing off the bitterness of the very-fresh leaves perfectly. The castelvetrano olives are certainly not the usual business for snack olives. They're served warm, in oil, not at all briny, very fruity green EVOO flavors, along with warm veg on the plate. I love these and can happily finish an order. They're starting to show up more places the last couple years and I couldn't be happier about this. The meatballs come out with a nice tangy red sauce, clearly house-made. Perfect tender meatballs, and very mildly flavored. It's a ground-meat dish that really shows off the meat flavors. You could bring grandma and grandpa here and they'd feel right at home. I loved these meatballs, and would order all three apps again, though I can understand some people expecting a bigger flavor punch from meatballs. Meatballs pretty much let you show off a heavy hand with herbs and spices, but an understated one now and then is nice, too. The entrees will take a little more exploring. We had the steak, which was cooked well, and served in slices with lots of garnish. Nice piece of meat, but quite a bit of gristle at the edges. That's normal with most whole steaks, but seemed odd with sliced steak--you kind of expect perfect bites when it's served this way. There was tons of cilantro and some grilled shishitos on the plate with it, kind of a spicy chimichurri that just hadn't been blended into a topping, so you cut garnish to go with each bite. I could definitely eat steak this way once a week. The gnocchi was the most mixed bag of the night. Perfect soft, pillowy gnocchi. They nailed the hard part. The menu describes it as being cooked with brown butter and sage, but the sage seemed absent, and the "browned butter" felt oily on the palate, more like the butter oil some places use to save time in the kitchen. No real velvety brown butter flavor or texture, which would easily send this to the top of the list for great dishes in Snohomish County. They're missing an opportunity here. Overall, this is a specialized place that makes a heaven for food lovers. Wonderfully friendly service, pleasant atmosphere. Great bar and kitchen. It smells incredible. The kitchen is right out in the room with you, doing all kinds of interesting things (maybe wear machine-washable clothes...kitchens tend to stay with you after you leave). I keep hearing from others who love this spot, and can't wait to come back. read more

Capers + Olives exceeded olive (hehe) my expectations, even with previous reviews having hyped it up so much. Let me start by giving the highest honors to our server. If our receipt information was accurate, her name was Melody, and she was the MVP of our evening. Melody was spot on with all of her recommendations, and was genuinely one of the warmest human beings I have ever met. She was especially sweet to my sister the birthday girl, and she made our experience one for the books. As for the food, I'll address some highlights: the pear salad - I've never had pear so soft without being mushy, and it was beautifully paired with pine nuts and cheese to make a delightful side dish. The bucatini was a perfect al dente, coated in a velvety sauce. A personal favorite was the rigatoni with guanciale and tomato - smoky, hearty, and rich. I think the only piece of critical feedback I can give was that the squash appetizer was a touch too salty. We finished off with a panna cotta topped with hazelnut brittle and pear chutney. I really appreciate how Chef Jimmy and crew source seasonal ingredients to create a relevant and exciting menu. I'm not huge on Italian food but this place did it right! Amazing pasta dishes from a true master chef. Seasoning was extremely on point. The vibe was fun, and our waitress was awesome.
