I want to start off positive and say that the food here was wonderful. Enjoyed everything we tried, from the calamari, to the stuffed mushrooms, the fried green tomatoes, etc. This was my second time coming and the food is consistently delicious. What brought us back a second time was the food but also the service, our server Kevin was delightful the first time! Our recent visit was very below average. I do want to note that the live music was such a joy, and the song selection was truly perfection! Where things went wrong: the first issue was this smell of..sewage/toilet that kept coming and going every few minutes. It was definitely an unpleasant smell while eating. The second issue came when ordering our meals. I ordered the steak burger and asked for no pickles. The burger came, as I cut it in half, I noticed a ton of pickles. I politely pointed this out to our server, and she apologized, took the burger away and came back, less than 30 seconds later, with my same cut burger that someone just..plucked the pickles off. I explained that I do not like pickles, therefore I don't even care for the residual taste of pickles. She took the burger and 5-7 minutes later, a manager named Mya, brought my burger over, apologized about the pickles and left. I thought all was well until I went to cut into my burger again, only I didn't need to because it was the EXACT same cut patty from before, but now a new bun. I understand a dislike of pickles may seem childish, but I am paying for something and I don't feel the request was large. I was truly surprised at the lengths they went to not simply make a new burger and to continuously give me this same patty. I mean, even McDonald's will make you a completely new burger. When I asked to speak to Mya again, she came over and listened to my complaint, smugly. She cut me off while speaking to try to proudly explain they gave me a new bun and new fries. I didn't want a new bun, I wanted a burger that hadn't been handled over and over nor one that has had pickles on it. At that point I just asked that they take the burger back, I hadn't bit into it, and I frankly had lost my appetite for the burger. I get mistakes happen and I am all for allowing that with grace, but I was very shocked and saddened on how determined they were to save $$ over fixing an issue they created. They offered a free dessert which was kind and as expected, delicious, but the evening was sadly spoiled by the events leading up. read more

I loved it here! Had family come into town so we went out to dinner. All the food was excellent. The calamari tasted fresh like it was never frozen. The breading on it was seasoned perfectly. The stuffed mushrooms were so good, filled with crab and the mushrooms were large. The redfish stuffed with crab was so delicious. The cream sauce was good and the potatoes au gratin were plenty and tasty. My family loved their meals. They had rave reviews on the grouper, catfish, and duck. My montane her lamb chops were seasoned with well and cooked perfectly. She got three and ate them all, this is a woman that never eats all her food lol. Was recommended to visit from a colleague and the first time that I went, got the house salad. It had lettuce (of course), tomatoes (duh), Parmesan, (sure) Fried beets, (wait, what), yes. Thinly sliced (and fried) beets provided a delicious compliment to the salad and the Vinaigrette was top notch. The Second time I went there, I brought reinforcements, (and their checkbook) , so the Fried Salmon Fingers, Fried Calamari, and the Fried Green tomatoes were soon escorted to the table. The Fried Salmon and the Calamari were gently laid upon some lightly tossed salad greens, not sure if for show or edible, but it looked great. The fried tomatoes came lightly dressed in a roasted red pepper sauce with goat cheese. The calamari was thick, perhaps half the size of a steak fry, and it provided a taste of actual calamari instead of the traditional super fried rounds that are full of grease. The fried salmon fingers are small slivers of salmon that have been battered and accompany a dill lemon aioli that gave it flavor. The fried green tomatoes had a light crunch, along with a good crisp interior indicating it wasn't fried to death. Main plates shown, Another House salad, Crab Cakes, Grouper sandwich, and regular Grouper in a cream sauce. With the dishes you can get 2 sides, and 3 of us chose to get the house made fries, but hold on. These aren't "restaurant fries" these thick potatoey rectangles are cut and fried in house. Lightly seasoned with sea salt and parsley, these hit the spot not only with portion amount, but also with flavor. The food? 5/5. I can describe my salad again, but you've already read it. 4 plates were cleaned at the end of the meal, and as a spur of a moment decision, I ordered the toasted Strawberry Pound Cake dessert. Ohhhh, you know those clips when someone says you done f*cked up now? The pound cake, buttery yet with a crust is layered with ice cream blocks. (I know what I typed) BLOCKS OF VANILLA ICE CREAM. Oh, and it's drenched in strawberry syrup that I am certain is house made as well. The candle was only a birthday request, so unfortunately candle not included in your order. If I could tell how this dessert disappeared being shared by 4 people that were "stuffed", I'm just glad I took a picture before it vanished amongst smiling faces and delicious food groans of appreciation. Visited for the first time for Mother's Day brunch. The cocktails were great. We had oysters and smoked salmon as appetizers. Both were delicious, especially the smoked salmon. For my entree, I had a special, which was the monte cristo sandwich, and it was very good. They originally forgot to send out the salad that was advertised as the side, but I asked for it, and it was delivered promptly and was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the ahi tuna rare, and a side of parmesan broccoli which was also a "special" that day. Unfortunately, his tuna was overcooked, and the broccoli had zero seasoning, no parmesean or even salt. My mom had the fried jumbo shrimp, and she enjoyed her meal. Both my mother and boyfriend ordered green beans as a side, and they were good, but seemed as if newer and older beans were mixed together. I will say that the portions were not generous, but adequate. We all have been watching our diets, so it was fine for us. Our server was very kind and attentive, even on an extra busy day. Visited Capers for lunch with a business connection. The service was off the chain. I had the Lamb Chops (1/2 portion) with cream spinach and wasabi mashed potatoes. Haven't been to Capers in a long time for lunch. I made a reservation just in case. Guess where they wanted to seat 2 of us yep right in front of the noisy kitchen. Worst table in the house. I asked to move so they offered the table next to it. Do I have stupid written on my forehead? No that's even worse I said. We finally got a booth. Hello! Service was good. Good sadly not so much. Steak salad looked amazing when it came out with a full 10oz steak on top. Usually it's sliced. Guess why? Lots a gristle. Presentation throws you off. Bleu cheese dressing had zero taste at all let alone Bleu cheese. I was disappointed. My friend got the fried lobster BLT. The toasted bread was falling apart it was so soggy from the tomato. Came here for Sunday brunch and it was a nice experience. This restaurant does accept reservations which we did not know so we ended up sitting at the bar to avoid a 60 minute wait for a table. It was very busy but that was expected for a Sunday. Twenty minutes after placing our order, a new waitress came by to inform us that our order ticket had been misplaced. Fortunately they put a rush on our order and brought it out within the next ten minutes. I had the crab cakes and my guest had the lamb chops. Both were seasoned very well and come out nice and hot! Capers and Fish Thyme are owned by the same family. The menus are similar. Curiously, Fish Thyme consistently ranks five stars. Capers? Maybe 3.6. Here's why: -- On Saturday night Capers is LOUD. I mean so loud, that my friends and I had no choice but to yell across the table to converse. -- I'm one for low-lit ambience, but Capers is DARK. I couldn't see what was on my plate without activating the flashlight on my phone. -- Capers has my favorite dish: ahi. While perfectly seared, it lacks the 'je ne sais quoi' of Fish Thyme's. (One restaurant cooks with a ponzu reduction, the other, soy and sake. While not terribly different, bring on the ponzu!) -- I love Fish Thyme's creamed spinach, which is creamier -- meaning better! -- than Capers's watery version. -- Both restaurants serve truffle fries. There's a $5 upcharge at Capers. French fries, which I ordered instead, were a tad undercooked lacking seasoning or distinction. -- Fish Thyme lists a delicious key lime pie on their dessert menu; Capers does not. We went with chocolate lava cake; while photogenic it was nothing to write home about. On the plus side, T's New Zealand lamb was delicious, as was his sweet potato puree. My friend enjoyed her dijon salmon and her husband noted that his steak au poivre was easily 4.5 stars. Both restaurants allow you to bring your own wine, with a reasonable $10 corkage fee. And both restaurants hire personable, on-the-ball servers. If you vacillate about which restaurant to choose, I say stick with Fish Thyme. If you want to try Capers, you might go during the week. I suspect it's quieter. And if you're lucky, not as dark. One last comment: you can make reservations for Capers on line. With Fish Thyme, you must call. read more

Went here for my second date with a beautiful young woman, and this restaurant only amplified how good our second date was. We had really wanted a booth, but when we go to the restaurant it was PACKED! The hostess told us it was over an hour wait for a table for two, but not even a second later they miraculously were able to find a regular table for us. Allie was our waitress, and her top notch service made our experience all the more enjoyable. When a booth opened up right behind us, she accommodated our request to sit there and just was really attentive and courteous the entire evening, even though we were far from her only table. For appetizers I had the Grouper Fingers, and although I don't always like fried wish because there's either too much breading, oil, or both, these were lightly breaded and perfectly fried (I wish I could have a BOTTLE of their mango habanero dipping sauce too). She had the Spinach Artichoke dip, and that was the CHEESIEST, tastiest spinach artichoke dip that I have had the pleasure of having. For entrees, my date had the crab cakes, which she said were incredible, and I had the lamb chop lollipops, which were RIDICULOUSLY good (side note - the creamed spinach with bacon is the most flavorful creamed spinach that I have EVER had). For dessert we shared the bread pudding and toasted strawberry pound cake. I wish I had remembered to take pictures before we devoured them, because they were both so beautifully presented (the toasted strawberry pound cake looked like the leaning tower of Pisa, it was so tall and stacked). I wasn't too sure about the bread pudding from the description because I had never heard of pineapple in bread pudding, but it was AWESOME! So flavorful and rich, and the ice cream and sauce was a perfect complement. The aforementioned tower of toasted strawberry pound cake took us back to our childhood and tasted like a deliciously elevated cake and ice cream. I met a friend for dinner at Caper's. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers and the bar was pretty packed for a Thursday night. When I arrived we were promptly seated near the bar area where there was a live performer on the piano. All of the entrees on the menu sounded amazing, however we were underwhelmed by the small selection of sides. We finally settled on entrees of a half order of lamb chops (3) with wasabi mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts and a half order of the sauteed trout (1piece) with the same sides. We went to Caper's last Friday for an early dinner and ordered the Garlic sautéed Crab fingers, spinach dip and the fried fish sandwich with fries. I was disappointed the food was not good. The crab fingers smelled very fishy and the bread that was served was soggy from sitting in the sauce. We took 2 bites and sent it back to the kitchen and ordered the spinach dip. The dip was not spinach dip but spinach with a piece of cheese not saucy enough at all! Lastly, we tried the fish sandwich with the fries and both my fiancée and I stated that it was just ok but not great. The fries must have been cooked in beef or duck fat because they were very heavy. I have eaten at better restaurants. I rated Capers 2 out of 5 because although the food was a miss the service was decent but not worth a repeat. read more

This is my close friends favorite restaurant. Every time she suggests we meet for dinner in the Kennesaw area, she always wants to go to Capers. So, I finally tried the restaurant with her. The food was amazing. I ordered the herb encrusted grouper with lemon sauce and capers based upon our server Melanie's suggestion. Melanie had actually eaten the exact same dish for lunch that day so it came highly recommended. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is because of delays in providing refills. I had ordered a soft drink, and my glass was completely empty multiple times, the longest being close to 10 minutes. Melanie, our server, was super friendly and personable. She simply did not return frequently enough to provide refills. At one point the manager stopped by to check on us and see if we needed anything. The only thing we needed was refills on our beverages. I'll definitely consider returning based upon the taste and quality of the food. read more

The locally owned restaurant is top notch. The service, food and the ambiance was top tier. I went here for a birthday dinner and I was blown away at how nice of an experience it was. From the outside I didn't fully know what to expect, but it was that and everything more. They had a live band there, that's added a nice tune to the atmosphere, and the waitress made sure our party was great the entire time. All of our food was delicious. Crab cakes are a must try, and the hawaiian steak omg good like no other. No one complained of anything. The lounge area was so nice too. We got some nice pictures in that area. I made reservations to come here and I'm glad I did. Even though it was fairly early on a Thursday night it was still busy. We sat at a table by the glass facing the outside. The menu has a variety options and they also feature a pretty excellent specials menu with food and drinks. The alcohol did seem slightly over priced. The wine was resonable but the cocktails were steep. I wont complain too much considering all the entrees were priced well and excellent portion sizes. We started with a crab appetizer in a delicious cream sauce. It was soooo good. Especially with the toasty bread that you can dip in the sauce. Mmmm. I got fish with a delicious lemon/ caper sauce of course and Im glad I did. I love capers and there was plenty on my dish. My only complaint is that rice is not a side option. The white noise was overpowering and we could barely hear our server. I ordered the Hawaiian ribeye medium rare. I usually never return food but my steak was overcooked. The server was very understanding. What was disappointing was the executive chef sent another chef to our table to inform me it was medium rare in his opinion. I pointed out my niece's medium steak had more pink in it. Most of mine was clearly well done. The chef said he would relay my message. They sent out the second steak and it was rare and cold with the fat still marbled and raw! I have never had a chef 'argue' with a patron. Not one individual apologized for the steak quality. Despite their busy days, Capers hits it out of the park with amazing food every single time. The menu is plentiful with a ton of great options. Meals are definitely on the heavier side, so come hungry and looking for a cheat meal. I love how they offer half and full portions. Pricing is great compared to any of the restaurants in the area. We have been here a handful of times, and recently attempted to visit as guest for a friends birthday. They called and made a reservation for a party of 17 at 7. 7pm came and they had a table ready that only held 10. So the manager I guess said she would get something else set up and 45 minutes later they had a table ready that sat 15 so we grabbed a near by table to bump together to fit and it felt like every server in the place had rushed over to express their feelings. During all this they stated the only do reservations of 15 or so typically kinda accusing us that they accepted the reservation. The food is typically pretty good. The ribeye and bruschetta are my favorites, but this was just bad customer service. The time previously we sat at a booth and there was just dust everywhere. First of all l have eaten at this place several times and have never had a complaint until today. I ordered the Herb crusted grouper with green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. The fish was over seasoned to a point l couldn't eat it, the green beans were mixed with fresh and old beans and the fresh beans were served cold and undercooked plus the sweet potatoes were so whipped they were runny and stringy. My meal was horrible in presentation and in taste to a point where l thought the business had changed ownership. I did inquire about the owners whereabouts and was told the chef had passed away and the wife doesn't come in as often. So my recommendation to anyone who loved this place as much as l did is to wait until a new chef comes on board then try them again. read more

***PICKY EATER AND STILL HAPPY*** Wow. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. My parents came up to visit me one weekend and we had no idea where to go and this was recommended to us. My dad is not a huge fan of "fancy/weird" foods but even he enjoyed his meal. The waitress was nice and attentive, despite us being outside too. I would love to go back and try some desserts or drinks because the menus for both looked great. My only gripe is that the music was far too loud for outside.
