Unacceptable to have a white female bartender talking down to black and brown servers in a black owned business! Very unpleasant experience witnessing the awful behavior. The food was good but the experience made it all bad ... I would never eat there again if that women still works there. This bartender was very chatty with the one Caucasian couple at the bar but for the several Black people at the bar she had nothing friendly to say and she treated the weight staff as if she were so much better. My ribeye was cooked to perfection and they don't hold back on the dessert. You can definitely share a dessert and still be stuffed. Okay, so love supporting minority business especially Black owned but never just because! I am delighted to say I love this place already and haven't even been inside! It is a drive from Canton but I will be back and bring others! I had the Chicken and waffles and was greeted with a flavorful, tender breast of chicken and a fluffy moist waffle. The maple glaze they provide was great too! My daughter had the crab cake and cheese grits and kept showing me these huge chunks of crab. She said the grits were cheesy and more than she could eat. Do not go to this restauran, service is horrendous, food is cheap and terrible. We asked them to add a candle to any desert to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. I asked them to try to make this special as possible. i even spoke with the hostess but she knew nothing of these arrangements from the phone reservation or online message I sent as well so I asked if I could just get a candle added to a desert. they asked if I was going to pay for the 1 candle. explained again this is my wife's 60th birthday and unfortunately probably her last. desert comes out no candle or any type of acknowledgment but they still charged us 1.00 for the candle. waited 28 minutes to get service . we watched 5 other couples that came after us get service. the only thing I can think of is that we were caucasian because other 5 tables were dark skinned. this company should be shut down. I have been there many times and this is the 1st time I have been disappointed. The food is always top notch and the best Crab Cakes I have ever eaten! We choose to eat on the patio since the weather was nice. But the waitress was waiting on tables inside also and just forgot about us many times. After complaining to the hostess, the waitress and the manager near the end they just apologized. Seems they could have done something more. Even after it started getting cooler the manager attempted to heat up the fireplace but it wasn't working and she never fixed it. The outside setting and interior design leaves a lot to be desired, but this restaurant is always packed and the line for tables is always long. We found this place off Yelp of course, and decided to give it a try since I was craving steak. HAWAIIAN STEAK Get this steak. It's tender, flavorful and super yummy. I wish I got this steak to share with a bunch of side items. It was my favorite steak. NEW YORK TBONE This is a nice steak too and cooked nicely. I ask for medium rare and it was pink inside which is great. However, it needed a lot of salt, so I would go for the Hawaiian next time. MASH POTATOES were good. Nothing special about them, just mashed well and good consistency. I would ask for more sauce or gravy with the mash though. CREME BRULEE is delish. It was my favorite dessert although the tall multi layered cheesecake, pound cakes looked more appealing. The custard was perfectly sweet, not too much, and has real vanilla bean in it. I was summoned here last to celebrate my uncle's birthday. He turned 80 and I wasn't missing his birthday dinner regardless of how far of a drive it is away from my house which is near the airport. The dinner was to start at 4, but they don't seat you until your entire party has arrived, which ended up being at about 4:40, and even then, the hostess then came and told us that our table would be ready in 5 mins. I thought this very odd, since I'd been receiving text messages for almost a month this is where the dinner would be held, so I can't understand why the table wasn't ready 40 mins after what I assumed was our start time. Another draw back, was as we were waiting to be seated, they brought out some menus and some people ordered drinks and appetizers and once we were prepared to make our way to the table, it seemed like the pressure was on to clear up any tabs we had created. Since we weren't going anywhere, I didn't understand the pressure for us to clear out our tab since we were moving to the table with said cocktails and appetizers. I'm sure it makes sense to the business owners, so I will digress. The lounge area where we sat while we waited for everyone to arrive was very comfy and cozy, but not really designed for eating, so if you can wait until you are seated. Finally, our table was right near the front door, and Atlanta was experiencing 30 degree weather this day so of course every time someone came in or left, we felt a great gust of wind. It would be helpful if they put some sort of drape or partition or guard up right near the entrance to block the wind from hitting folks in the face at the dinner table Now on to the food. I think everyone cleaned their plate. I went with a stuffed halibut with shrimp, garlic green beans (which were cold) and mashed sweet potatoes. the birthday boy (hahah) had some ribs and cheese mashed potatoes. Overall the staff was pleasant, the food was delicious and 3 entrees, 2 beers, and something I highly recommend, the Audrey Hepburn martini ended up being right at $80 for my portion of the check. I finally had my first dine in experience with them and I can definitely say I enjoyed it for the most part. Though it took awhile for me to be greeted upon arrival and the mediocre service, the food was outstanding! I ordered the "Garlic Sautéed Crab Fingers" as my appetizer, definitely a 10 out of 10. The appetizer was very hot, temperature wise, and flavorful! Would definitely recommend. For my entree, I ordered the "Barbecue Salmon" w/ creamed corn and Au Gratin potatoes. Again, the entree was hot and flavorful. The salmon had a nice wood grilled taste with the perfect amount of BBQ sauce. I could see myself ordering this again. The "Strawberry Pound Cake" was my choice of dessert. At first, I wasn't going to order the dessert because the portions of my appetizer and entree were very generous! I must admit, I'm so happy that I had a change of heart! The pound cake was lightly toasted, it put me in the mind of french toast toasted to perfection. The pound cake was layered with smooth creamy ice cream and a strawberry purée... literally to die for! I will be ordering this on my next visit! Came here while on the date. Did not expect the quality of food I received here! My date and I started off the night with Crab fingers and Bruschetta. The crab fingers had an amazing cream sauce which came with a slice of lemon to squeeze into. The bruschetta was a bit unconventional with the bread which was used, but delicious nonetheless. For our entrees, he had the crispy duck and I had the stuffed chicken. As sides we ordered kale salad and I had the wasabi mashed potatoes. Overall, it was amazing! The ribs taste like they came out the box and into the oven, the potato's were explained as a wasabi potato with a spicy taste which turned out to be a regular potato , spinach was explained to me as a creamy spinach with bacon which turned out to be a dry spinach. Caper's is a family favorite for my family and I. The portions of the food are overwhelming but who's complaining about more food!? I'll take it. Even the half portions are enough for leftovers. The ambiance is very soothing, great staff, very professional annnnnd black owned! I love that although it attracts such a diverse crowd. I usually start with the crab claws. On Valentines Day my husband and I unexpectedly ended up dining at Capers for lunch. Although we had had two previous bad experiences there in the past year and a half, this would be its third chance to redeem itself. I ordered the sauteed trout with lemon caper sauce. It was tasteless and was topped with dried-out capers and maybe just a half teaspoon of the sauce under the skin side that I didn't eat. My husband ordered fish and chips. It didn't look like what we would have expected. When my husband asked the server if she was going to bring him some malt vinegar, she looked puzzled. Then she brought him some straight vinegar. The fries were greasy, thick, and soft and surprisingly covered with a mound of parmesan cheese. The fish was two big chunks of puffed-up greasy fried/battered coating with a watery short flimsy fillet in each that didn't look anything like cod and tasted sour. My husband quickly decided he couldn't eat what he got. So he sat and watched me eat my three bites of thin sauteed trout and brussel sprouts "cooked with apples" (?) and potatoes "mashed with wasabi oil" (?). The smiling server finally came around to ask if we wanted dessert or a doggie bag. I gently reported my husband's disappointment with what he expected to be fish and chips to explain why he didn't eat what she delivered. She offered no apology or curiosity and continued to smile. Her only response was, "So you're ready for your check? Do you want a doggie bag?" She even offered a doggie bag a third time. We assumed she had only those two sentences on her script. We are nice people, so quitely paid the full bill and even tipped her at 15%. Then we went on to the next-door Publix for Haagen-Dazs, bananas, and Cool Whip so we could have a tasty banana-split supper to celebrate our Valentines Day. read more

I went in to Capers to have dinner on my way to The Governors Gun Club because it had been a while since I've eaten there. The employees didn't seem very professional for the rating as well as the price of the servings. I use to love the bruschetta but this time it was very bland compared to what I had before. The manager keep standing in the doorway looking around maybe he should help his staff. I heard many people complain about the service and how expensive everything was. The bartender was very short responding like she didn't want to be there when I ask her a question so I decided to have dinner at The Governors Gun Club I know what I'm getting at The Gun Club!!! I took my good friend to Capers for her birthday. The waiting staff were spectacular and the food is always amazing. I have been coming to Capers for years and have never had anything bad on the menu. The wine list and cocktails are also great! I really want to give this place 4 stars, but I question the cleanliness as we were handed the same dirty, visibly food-stained menus that were left on the table by previous patrons. I later found out from a staff member that the manager advises the wait staff to redistribute paper menus to cut cost. This is completely unacceptable especially in the midst of a pandemic. It made me think... if the manager is cutting corners on menus, what else could he/she be cutting corners on in the kitchen?? Cleanliness is critical for the success of restaurant businesses during these unprecedented times and it's surprising to me that a business that's commonly frequented would sacrifice cleanliness and public health to save a few dollars. Shame, shame, shame.... A little suggestion to the manager: laminate the paper menus and have staff spray and wipe thoroughly with soap and water or some other disinfectant between use. Until the "filthy menu" situation is rectified, I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to others. I will also report this finding to the Cobb County Department of Public Health. Rotten lettuce, horrible phone service, cold food. Ordered carry-out Sunday evening. Picked it up and came home. Immediately opened it up to eat. The Caesar Salad had bad lettuce that was slimy looking, had black spots, and was mushy. Just bad looking and never should have been served. Additionally the food was cold. While we can deal with above, it was the level of service that we received when we called to informed them about our order. The first called resulted in a 9 minute wait before my wife hung up and called again. The second call was answered and my wife was told she would have to wait because the lady too busy to speak to her at that time. she waited another 10 minutes on hold. I don't know anything about the operations of the is restaurant, but it seems like something changed and service level has dramatically deteriorated. Cold food, bad lettuce, and a lack of caring service. Had to share this publicly because no one at the restaurant would take our calls. We have been dining at Capers on Main for years. We started when they were in their original location on Main Street in old Kennesaw. Just the same, this was my first lunch at Capers. It was incredible! I had a simple barbecue pork sandwich and my wife had their soup and salad combo. The soup was shrimp corn chowder and it was excellent.
