I'm a big fan of this shopping center. It has lots of local specialty shops and chains as well as…read moresome great local restaurants and it's huge. I mean, H-U-G-E. It's so big it has several roads and stoplights in an out and is split into Hilltop North, West, South, etc. Due to the road construction and the access roads, I suggest you enter and exit at stoplights to save yourself the road rage. There is plenty of parking and it's an easy park and walk shopping center. You can come here and spend hours and hours shopping. There are restaurants for snacks and meals while you shop like Baker's Crust, Fruitive, Taste, etc. and there are places for grab and go items too like Fresh Market or a coffee from Roast Rider. For more upscale there is Blue Fin and Butcher's Son and Melting Pot. My favorite furniture store is here after moving out of the huge spot they held at Town Center a few years ago, Ethan Allan, as well as a few more speciality home decor places like Kitchen Barn. There are tons and tons of salons and spa and nail places as well as an optometrist, tailors, and men's and women's specialty clothing stores like Bridal, etc. There are a bunch of places to shop for gifts and home decor including a Hallmark store and a few locally owned shops, my faves are Be Jeweled and Wild Birds Unlimited (not just for bird stuff trust me). There are also some specialty fitness places like a newer Cycle Bar I saw last time I was there, as well as Trek bicycle shop and a Great Outdoor Provision Co store and the only Athleta store in VAB I think. There are also several banks (like 5!) and a CVS and Rite Aid so you can get some prescriptions and drop off deposits (or get more money) while you're here! I love coming over here for a day of shopping, snacks, and spoiling myself. If you have friends or family from out of town or you're looking for something specific but don't have time to run all over, you can probably get most things done in just this one spot. While I am sad and inconvenienced by Starbucks' departure, the shopping center offers plenty. CVS, Hallmark, and The Fresh Market are among my most frequent visits. I like these shops! This spot has treated me well through the years…read more I love the Aldo's family-run restaurant here for a great meal. I've brought family and friends here, had date nights for my birthday or anniversaries or special occasions, and come here to carb-load before running weekends. There is a Nothing Bundt Cakes here and they have the best cakes I've ever had so I always stop to get these for special occasions and they're the only cakes I want for my birthday. There is a Chico's here which now also sells Soma Intimates from their sister brand. There is also a shop right beside Chico's which exclusively sells Lily Pulitzer clothing and has some seriously gorgeous and colorful and fun clothing inside. Some of the spots have changed on and off throughout the years: a coffee shop, bridal shops (this is where I got a stunning wedding dress for my 2015 wedding). Parking is easy, there is plenty, and it's always immaculate. This is a great spot with some nice, niche shops and Aldo's is one of my favorite local restaurants. Service is always excellent and food is top notch! The only issue is the access roads off Laskin, but they're working on those and hopefully all will be better in coming years.

Great Neck Square has been a shopping source for the Great Neck area of Virginia Beach for a long…read moretime. The shopping center is on the northeast corner of the intersection of First Colonial & Great Neck Roads. In addition to the neighborhood, Great Neck Square is convenient for those coming north from the First Colonial medical corridor. It's directly adjacent to a sister shopping center Great Neck Village on the north. You can drive from one to the next without exiting to Great Neck Road. Harris Teeter supermarket anchors the center now. It' store occupies the space of the longtime Farm Fresh, whose chain went out of business. The shopping center contains a large variety of businesses that make for neighborhood convenience. You'll find a hair salon, dental office, orthodontic center, nail salon, book store, physical therapy center, credit union, business offices and more, including Ynot Italian restaurant & Plaza Azteca eateries. Longtime out parcel Hardee's sits facing First Colonial. Adjacent is a convenient new 7-Eleven. Out parcels of Great Neck Square & Great Neck Village have contained different restaurants or fast food over the years. I remember well quick trips through their fast food choices in the late 90's to pick up lunch for my son who was at Cox High School. Great Neck Square has received facelifts that have kept the longtime shopping center a feature of the current times. It isn't often that I currently do business in the shopping center that I pass so often. Hardee's is a convenient but high calorie breakfast stop if I've had to fast before testing or a procedure at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. 7-Eleven has been a welcomed fuel stop. Sometimes a quick stop at Harris Teeter fills a grocery need. For those who live in the neighborhood, Great Neck Square is a benefit. It's not a spot where I'll shop often.

With the addition of Harris Teeter all is good again with Great Neck Square…read more Located at the corner of Great Neck Rd. and First Colonial with every ways on both roads. Signage is on Great Neck. The lot is very large to accommodate a major grocer. Other than that it's a strip with small stores I've never shopped. A few out businesses are Hardee's and Dunkin Donuts. A new 7 Eleven is on the corner. On my last visit there was minor debris. The leasing agent is Breeden. I think they are one of the areas best.

The Plaza is a wonderful focal point. The vision of a planned Uptown, miles from the lights and glitter of the oceanfront, was a wonderful one. Upscale shopping, restaurants, housing and theaters abound. Grocery shopping is now available in the form of Trader Joe's, which occupies a space in the same area of Regal Cinemas. We almost gave up on our table when our table was ready. We were all glad that we waited. Fresh bread was warm with a some sort of sweetened butter. I am guessing it was brown sugar, either way it was a hit! Our table had salmon, bronzed, which was delicious. Crab cakes were good and this compliment is coming from a group of Marylander's. Even then broccolini was excellent. Calamari was fresh and crisp, a good mix. I highly recommend the kale and quinoa salad. It was different but a nice mix of flavors with the blueberries. I added the bronzed salmon, which was flaky and tender. The clam chowder didn't come out before the meal, but our waitress caught it and still brought it out. It must have been good because it was gone quickly. No one else even got a taste. We had two kids with us and our waitress made sure that their orders were placed earlier while the adults were still trying to make selections. I was impressed that our service was excellent with such a large party. We were seated in this cute circular booth. Because this place is very popular, give yourself time to wait for a table, enjoy the bar or Neptune Patk while you pass the time. It's worth the wait!

There are more shops but those are the ones I frequent the most. Since Nordstrom sadly departed MacArthur a few years ago this is the only Nordstrom you'll find on this side of the water. It's not the same as the three-story beauty in Norfolk but it'll do - even if it's only their discount arm. I love the shoe section there. Best deals in town.
