Chelsea the manager is so accommodating and friendly and the bartender Cassidy curated the most delectable cocktails for me and my best friend when we came here for dinner. Took the family to Lipinski's Tavern on Cape Haze for dinner tonight (the former CHT). I had met Chelsea and Cassidy before while having a beer and told them I would be back, and did not want to go back on my word. We had the Pot roast dinner, 8 Pierogi Dinner (Potato, Bacon and Kraut), and Buffalo Shrimp Wrap. Everything was excellent as well as our server Gina who gave us some recommendations. I am fairly new to town, moved here in October but have been loving trying all the local restaurants. Most are fairly decent, but at the same time very loud. So, it was so nice to find this restaurant off the beaten path that has it all! First, greeted by Host and for the first time actually greeted, he made eye contact the moment we walked in, smiled and welcomed us and gave us a selection of seating. It was warm and inviting very relaxing atmosphere. Service was practically instant! From the menus, waters and offered drinks while we looked at menu. I was very impressed, the entire staff was welcoming, polite and professional. Now onto the real reason we are here, the FOOD! First, I need to mention while we waited, they served us delicious warm bread, with sweet, seasoned butter and dipping oil. We didn't wait long which was a surprise for our food server to bring us our dishes. I didn't even taste it and knew it wasn't going to disappoint. I got the Chicken Marsala and My husband got the special which was the Chimichanga Texana Special. My husband let me have his first bite since I honestly couldn't decide between the two lol It was soooo Good! Yum! that should be offered on the main menu!! My Chicken Marsala was DELISH! It was served over Fettuccini and it exceeded my expectations! Was one of those meals you just keep eating because it's so good then you're stuffed. I still couldn't finish it the portion was so generous. Wish I hadn't stuffed myself after I saw the desserts! I guess we will need to add this to one of regular spots to try some. So, hats off to the Chef! We were very satisfied. And just like when we arrived the Host thanked us for coming, he was very gracious. Once again Cape Haze Tavern doesn't disappoint. We recently bought a home in the area and have been trying to find good places to eat. Some in the area are good once and bad the next, this has not been the case with CHT. Today we ordered all summer specials, coconut crusted colossal shrimp, the strawberry salad, and the butter poached triple tail over risotto with mango pineapple salsa. Every bit was magnificent. Not only is the food outstanding, the staff is excellent. The manager came out to say hello and check on us, the hostess was more than pleasant (they may be owners I don't know, but we appreciate their hospitality) and the waitress and assistant were outstanding. This is one of those restaurants where you can tell there is a CHEF in the kitchen and not just a bunch of "cooks". Don't get me wrong cooks can put out some excellent food, but there are steps above excellent food and at CHT you taste it and see it. We will always recommend and as always we are looking forward to the next specials. read more

Great news for the Englewood/Rotonda/Boca Grande area!! The opening of Cape Haze Tavern is giving me hope that delicious fresh food is available nearby And it's in an esthetically pleasant cozy environment with friendly staff members. I don't normally review new restaurants after one visit because lets face it there are always kinks to work out. But after my 1st experience I am cautiously saying it's definitely one to put on your list to try. We arrived on the earlier side around 5:30 and the restaurant was already very busy. We decided to sit at the bar instead of a table and we were so glad we did. We ended up conversating with quite a few different people. Some who were waiting for a table and some who were just happy hanging out at the bar enjoying their dinner The bar staff were GREAT!! We were fortunate enough to be waited on by both Heather and Edda (not sure if it's Etta or Edda). Both were outgoing and personable and had great suggestions regarding the menu. It always makes me happy when a new restaurant lets their employees actually TRY the menu so they can speak knowledgeably when a customer asks questions before they order. How can you expect them to promote something that they haven't tried?? We decided to try the French Onion Soup. I can't lie, I am a sucker for a great FOS! I make a really great version myself and theirs did not disappoint! When I say it was heat hot it was HOT just the way you want it!! With lots of pully ooey gooey cheese and sliced toasted baguette on top. Delicious. We also had the Blackened Shrimp Tacos and the Cape Haze Chicken Sandwich (sans roasted red peppers) Both fresh and delicious. The Shrimp Tacos while Blackened also had a good amount of flavor/heat from the fresh jalapenos. The Cape Haze Chicken Sandwich with the Fresh Arugula, Feta and Pesto Aioli on the super fresh Brioche Bun was really good. My only hiccup with the Cape Haze Chicken Sandwich is that it was close to being a little overcooked/dry. Keep it moist/juicy and you have a winner on your hands! I don't want to keep saying fresh but that's my takeaway. This new restaurant is using "fresh" ingredients which makes me very happy. Are there items that come from the freezer? I'm sure. But sometimes "Fresh Frozen" is ok. During our dinner as I mentioned we talked to different people and watched the different menu items that we didn't order come out of the kitchen. To our left a lovely woman ordered the Lobster Grilled Cheese. She had a hard time telling us how great it was in-between bites. Note to self next time. Then there was the couple who were sitting behind us at a table and when we (embarrassingly) inquired what they were enjoying they gave the thumbs up for the Stuffed Portobello Mushroom Appetizer and the Berry Avocado Salad. A great additional to the local food choices. We had dinner there on Friday night. Dot was our waitress, she was pleasant to talk with and took great care of us. Our meals were scallops along with Salmon. A future intelligence will arrive on this planet, barren of life only to find the structures we created. One of these life forms may arrive in southwest Florida, Rotonda West specifically. They will document their discoveries: outdated houses arranged inside a circular roadway, draconian HOA rules, and rusted out golf carts. And in a footnote they will write "Also discovered the Cape Haze Tavern. Appears to have been a scratch kitchen located adjacent to a fitness club." And with double underlined text, these explorers will scribble the word "WHY???" This is a bit how I felt this past weekend. In our first indoor dining adventure post-vaccination, Cape Haze Tavern was suggested by local family (even though they had not yet visited). And so we ventured from south Venice, through Englewood, cutting through the brush and vines that surround Placida only to arrive at a well-appointed, bright, vibrant restaurant. Had it fallen from the sky? Did it obey by some different law of physics that constrained its operating hours to 4pm-9pm Tuesday through Saturday? Was there not some location nearer a thoroughfare of consequence - say Placida Road, that they might have found a more fertile location to settle? These mysteries alas, are left to time. However - if you choose to embark on an endeavor that our future selves might also take, you will find a menu that is not shy about announcing the intentions of the owners: good food, not cheap. This isn't the endless offering of generously mediocre beach fare from Lock and Key or Sandbar. There is thought in this menu around using ingredients that are on hand. If you arrive "late" - say after 5pm, they may not have certain items and as you proceed past the dark hours of Rotonda West (6pm) the chances that their specials are available will diminish. Hence is the existence of a small and unique place that caters to a clientele that likely knows of nothing else outside of the moat of human existence that is Rotonda. For the future explorers that may find this review preserved somewhere within the confines of Cape Haze Tavern, I can only hope that you do not judge our civilization too harshly upon your discovery of White Elephant Pub. read more

My first time visiting The Cape Haze Tavern and I was not disappointed. Welcomed immediately upon arrival by a very pleasant gentleman and seated promptly. The atmosphere was very nice and inviting and a great menu with plenty of options. We started with French Onion soup and a salad and both were very good as well as the complimentary bread and flavored butter. It was Prime Rib night so my husband ordered that, I had the pork chop and our friend had the chicken piccata. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the portions were generous. My entree came with roasted potatoes and vegetables, the potatoes were the best u have had in a long while. Our friend has had better chicken piccata other places but said it was fine. The only problem we found was that the table was small for all of the plates, glasses etc. We were seated at a table for four and cannot imagine if there had been a fourth person how crowded it would have been. The service was fantastic, our server was so friendly and nice. We did not have room for dessert but maybe next time. It filled right up shortly after we arrived but it wasn't noisy at all. In a party of five, three orders came with major errors and one diner never got her dinner. In spite of the premium prices the meals that finally arrived were no more than OK. The server was pleasant but unprofessional with bread arriving at the end of the meal and no follow-up on the missing and mixed up meals. We came back for the 2nd time as we have a place in Boca Grande. We had Susan as our server. The dishes and appetizers we have had have been absolutely outstanding! Have tried the crunchy crab roll and the shrimp and sweet potato tacos for a starters and The Red Snapper was amazing along with the Salmon and the Diver Scallops! We will be regulars every time we visit our Boca Condo. I wish more people knew about this hidden gem! Just to good to keep a secret! read more

Cool new place ;However it is WAY OVERPRICED! Food is good , but the prices are ridiculous! When they first opened I went there had a steak I thought it was expensive it was over 40.00 .. went back a 2nd time for something different happened to see they ADDED a few more dollars to the already over priced steak! Not to mention that overpriced steak does not even come with a salad and you have no choice for sides it automatically is picked for you ! (Mashed potatoes & cooked carrots!) that left a ripped off feeling in my wallet.. I'm sorry , but there are "better" places around here in which you can get a way better steak that will include bread, salad and you can pick the sides you'd like to have. (I.e. Farlows) that place blows cape haze away! Several different steaks and half the cost! I just seen cape haze's octoberfest menu and holy cow the prices are going to close this place down ! This review is based on our first time here. Cape Haze Tavern is a quaint place with amazing atmosphere. Most of the experience was positive, hence the 4 stars. The bartenders, Melissa and Heather, are great! The pork belly appetizer (not pictured) was amazing. My boyfriend had the fish (haddock) and chips with coleslaw. The fries had a lot of the bottom of the bag in them, not really what I'd expect from a restaurant with "higher" prices. The haddock was good, and the cole slaw was vinegar based. My scallops and risotto were very good. I'd come back for apps and drinks, but not sure I'd eat here again. The prices do not match the quality. read more
