First impressions go a long way- I've been here twice now. Service, friendliness and great food make a winning combination. The bartender DAN was very kool- easy to talk too. Felt like someone,one could make good friends with over time. Menu has much to choose from steaks, seafood to burgers. All with a twist and flair putting it over the top. Service was super both times. Food was very good. Interesting fusion going on with the veggie Papardelle. It was Italian at the restaurant, but became almost Asian when I heated it up. Very elegant! I was at this location before when it was another restaurant. Placida Grill is a step up from the bistro that had been in this space previously. Just wanted to give the locals a heads-up so they are not surprised by the atmosphere-and the prices here! I will say the higher price point is warranted-the food is great and the service was outstanding. They also have a full bar- My group had the hamburger, it was excellent. The crab cake dinner-this got rave reviews from the person who ordered it-and the chicken burrito-not good! The chicken burrito was beautifully presented-but the actual product had mostly rice-a little beans-and almost no CHICKEN!! So definitely DO NOT order this- I mentioned this to the hostess,and she said"I wish you would have let us know-we would have gotten you another one" so we will never know,unfortunately! Good local place, sat outside, dog friendly! My halibut was excellent, the chicken Picatta and filet were good, not great (filet was over cooked). This is a place where you can say don't judge a book by its cover. Outside it looks like a true whole in the wall. When you enter while it's not fancy, the bar atmosphere on a Friday was lively. Been here a few times. Had great experiences before but tonight was off. High season caused a half hour wait for kitchen to catch up even though it was half empty. Sat and ordered shrimp and grits and was disappointed. Too much sauce, spicy in the wrong way, and large shrimp tasted fishy, plus service was only ok. Friends set the shrimp aside as well. Very different than our first few trips. I'm sure we'll try again but will be less certain recommending it again. read more

We went to Placida Grill to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had 6:30pm reservation and were seated seconds after walking thru the door. I had a delicious lemon drop martini and the fish special of the evening. My dinner was soooo good and my friends also enjoyed their meals. Our server, Beth, was gracious and attentive. Don't pay attention to the old reviews you see. I did and it kept me from dining here for quite some time. Friends invited us out for dinner and said we needed to give Placida Grill a try. I'm so happy we did. The food was delicious and the service was great. It's a much cuter place on the inside than what it looks on the outside. Reservations are preferred. Omg, this is a must visit place. Had black grouper over mashed potatoes, absolutely amazing. Also, had the skirt steak amazing as well. The killer shrimp is a great appetizer. i have never had a bad meal here - EVER - and this includes past locations. Everything the chef cooks is well done and the food is much more upscale than the current location suggests. I always get the salmon tostada (sometimes just ask for it simple grilled and it's perfectly cooked) but sometimes get Jerk chicken or a special. They are ALL VERY GOOD. They have the best fried oysters. All other food is exceptional. Great friendly atmosphere. We prefer the high tops in the barroom.

High Prices! The burrito looks good until you get into it and see about 6 slivers of chicken, some black beans and mostly all rice. Nah!
