One day, someone claiming to be from their company came to my house and told my wife they had…read moreleftover asphalt and wanted to use it on our driveway. Since our house is at the border between two towns, he asked my wife if we were located in one of them. My wife said yes, but since her English isn't very good, she didn't get any more details except that he said "paving." She called me to explain the situation, and the man told me he needed to use the extra asphalt on our driveway. I thought it was the city doing the work to connect our driveway to the street, so I agreed. After my wife went out with the kids, she returned to find they had already paved around 200 square feet, laying asphalt directly over our gravel driveway. I called a man named Bill, who had left a card with no company information on it. Bill told me their accountant would contact me the next day. The following day, they came and asked for $2,500 for the work. I asked them to provide their business license since I've seen other paving jobs where they lay concrete underneath to make the asphalt stable and prevent cracking. However, they couldn't provide any valid documentation. I searched for their company online but found no useful information. Eventually, they sent me their COI (Certificate of Insurance), which was the first time I learned their company's name. I also found many others online with similar complaints. It turns out that Bill doesn't have a real company, and their "accountant" is his sister. They kept insisting that their family business has been operating for 40 years, pressuring me to pay. I contacted my lawyer, who told me they were scammers and advised me not to pay, demand they restore the driveway, and call the police. I explained this to Bill's sister. I told her that if they had done the work properly and charged a fair price, I wouldn't mind paying. But they had no license, and the job was poorly done. The next day, they sent a random person to tear off the asphalt. I hope my experience helps others avoid being scammed by them.

Beware. From what I've read, and then experienced this morning, this company has a tendency to…read morestop by people's houses and offer to do paving work with material they have left over from another job. They'll offer a price per sq. ft., but won't tell how much material they'll be using. When I refused to allow them to do the job until I got a price, he got mad, yelled at me, and left. STRONG four stars! I'm definitely a fan and would use them again in a heartbeat…read more I didn't hire them directly, but a contractor I hired hired them as a third party removal service to remove a boiler in my house. Initially, I was upset at Unlimited Removal. They didn't come on time, a second appointment was made (through the contractor I hired), they idled outside my house for an hour in an unmarked truck without knocking. Eventually, I went out and did the awkward "Hey... can I help you?" thing (pretty sure it was for boiler removal, but not completely?), and then I was kind of pissed off because they said they were waiting for the contractor I hired (Addario's Services) to show up, when I hadn't heard anything about that. THEN I found out what happened. Addario's was complete crap at coordinating multiple parties. Unlimited Removal wasn't getting the right times for the appointment. Addario's told them to wait for someone to come out to disconnect the boiler first (even though it was already disconnected), which is why they were in front of my house for so long -- waiting for someone who was never coming. They were really just doing the best they possibly could with the information and mixed messages they were given. Once everything was straightened out, they worked quickly and efficiently at the job. Because of the pandemic, they wore gloves, well-fitted KN95 masks, and booties. They were super nice, friendly and really went above and beyond with sweeping and cleaning up the construction mess in the basement. I never thought that something as mundane as "boiler removal" could leave me pleasantly surprised -- but I was really blown away by their professionalism and the quality of their work! Only reservation -- I was still a little weirded out by the unmarked tractor trailer truck idling right outside my house on a quiet side street for an hour. They probably could have done more to contact the company once it was clear they weren't showing up, or maybe let me know who they were or why they were there. They were reading in the cab and maybe time got away from them :) Not a big deal all things considered, and, like I said -- it was really screwed up communication they were dealing with!
