Hello. I must preface this by saying I know very little about construction so I can not speak to the details of the roof replacement I had Cape Cod Roofing and Siding do. However, as a middle age single parent of three, I believe my character assessment kills are pretty dependable. I own a historic home in one of Cape Cod's lovely towns by the water. My house, cottage, garage and other outlying structures around the property here are of substantial value both financially and of legacy. Upkeep is expensive at every turn it seems. The main house needed a roof that I had put off for years, not because of money, but because I was not looking forward to dealing with another contractor. My luck with contractors has been "EH" at best. I am sorry, but that was my experience up until the roof. I called the 800 number for Cape Cod Roofing and Siding as I assumed it meant a bigger company with better consumer service and not local so if I had another issue I would not have to avoid them at the market in town. A man named Skip returned my call and introduced himself as the owner. Skip came out a day later. Everything I had experienced prior with contractors was different with Skip right from the start. On time, no reeking of smoke or alcohol, exceptionally social in his greeting and very well spoken. Overall, an impressive first impression that did not disappoint one iota. An impressive personal stature and well groomed. Skip asked me what I expected out of the project, and with the exception of one item, I signed a contract with him. A month later the project was completed as if he and his company were never here. All I can attest to is that my project looks lovely, I enjoyed talking to Skip while onsite and I am now using him as a reference point to other contractors that he networks with. Hopefully one of them mimics Skip and that he is single. I had to add that, Skip was refreshing as a man who appears socially and professionally squared away as my military father would say. Hopefully this helps someone's decision making process. Oh, I spent a substantial amount of money with Skip's company. I felt it to be the right money. Oddly enough all the quotations from five contractors were within a $100 of each other which I thought strange given the tens of thousands I spent. Why did I choose Skip? His quotation was a fixed number, not an estimate (estimates scare me), and as I previously stated, just an overall look exuding pure professionalism. read more

YES, the business asked me to post a review on both Google and YELP. I own a home in central Massachusetts and like everyone else I needed a roof. My talking points were experience, availability, explanation of what my possible options would be and of course cost per option. My due diligence had me get multiple estimates. Summary, all estimates were "in the ballpark" as they say. What led me to choose Cape Cod Roofing and Siding was simply Skip himself. Given all the products and services were a constant to all involved I concluded, Skip simply came across as someone who truly was dedicated to his trade. His answers to my questions were no "BS". Quite frankly, as he stated, "he looked at every job as if it were his own property and what would he do if he were I". I can not ask for more than that. The man is genuine to a fault. I remember that I wanted a certain product and he blatantly told me that I should probably get someone else. It was not rude, it was direct. All in all, my $9,000.00 was well spent 11 years ago. Since then, I have spent about $341,000.00 with his company since on my commercial buildings. I had an issue with one of his roofs. Leaking like a sieve. Skip made a 2 hour ride within hours to resolve the problem caused by animals. Charged me service call that was more than reasonable. The man has not failed me yet. I finally got around to responding to his request for a review. btw: I have read the reviews here and other places. ***DOUCHEBAG ROOFER Asked for an estimate. All I received was piss poor attitude in return. I've received a few estimates from other roofing companies for a house in purchasing, no problem. This guy seems pissed I'm trying to choose his company! Absolutely rude and unhelpful. Check the other reviews! Not professional at all! I was threatened to be sued in small claims over this review. It is NOT being removed. Yelp is even standing behind me. I provided them with all the email exchanges. I'm well protected by the freedom of speech amendment. Excellent work! My family installed solar panels 2 years ago on our south facing roof. The solar company used a subcontractor from New Bedford. Within a year I found a leak in the brand new roof from the solar panel installation. I contacted the solar company and and were "unable to locate" the subcontractor that they had originally used for the negligent installation. I called several local roofing companies to make repairs ...(and by several I mean 6). Not only is Skip, the owner Cape Cod Roofing, the ONLY contractor to get back to me, but he spoke to me at length to ascertain the exact nature of the problem. He made me realize it wasn't uncommon for leaks to occur from solar panel installation. In essence, he calmed my nerves He arrived at the house giving us about a week notice so we could meet him there. He used my input to figure out exactly where the leak was, as well as other potential problems with initial installation. He found several areas of concern including poorly secured brackets and broken roofing shingles...(exactly where the leak was occurring). Skip took pictures throughout the process so I could have the necessary documentation to file the claim with the solar company. He sealed the roof, made the necessary repairs...and the GREAT news: its been torrential rain for the past 24 hours....and there are NO LEAKS! Skip and his worker were very professional and easy to work with I'm very happy with the repair I would use them again I have already given 2 neighbors a heads up about this good local company read more

I generally do write reviews, nor do I make it a habit of seeking out reviews before I go eat somewhere, hire someone or travel. Why? Because I believe that I am a great judge of that which I seek. And if I am not, oh well, I have experiences to learn from. YES, on some occasions, my "gut" feeling was wrong as my experience was far greater than expected. Surprise, it happens! What I refuse to do, had my experience not met my expectations, is run back home and tattletale on anything or anyone. I will live my life through my experiences, not those of others. Case in point, I have recently decided to add on to my house. I am going to start by contacting the company that remodeled my entire exterior years back. That company was Cape Cod Roofing and Siding out of Wareham, MA. Though I live on Cape, after meeting with many local contractors I chose this one. Why? Because when you know, you know. BTW, I found this company by chance online off Cape. I called, a man named Skip answered, we met. Truthfully, his ideas for my home as a single mother seemed to be out of reach for my budget. My concern was validated when I perused his enormous website. His work appeared fabulous no matter what page of his site I was on. There were homes like mine and far beyond. All stunning and overwhelming actually. A few days went by and I received a quote from Skip. I asked him to meet with me and go over the estimate on site. He showed up, answered my questions and then he said this: "you know, that is not an estimate, that is a fixed price quotation". Feeling not so informed, not knowing, I asked, what's the difference? Skip said, "professionals with vast amounts of knowledge and experience provide fixed cost quotations, not guess-ta-mates" as he explained. He went on to say, "you (I) get all that which is on the written quotation for that exact cost, not a penny more unless you (I) request something additional to the contract in writing for another fixed cost". I had six estimates by others and his fixed cost quote in hand. After a couple more calls and meetings with others, I picked the slightly average cost of all, Cape Cod Roofing & Siding. Cost of my project with them: $35K. As a single parent, that project cost scared me but it was now necessary to fix my siding, gutters, shutters, roof and trim. And, some rot in a few places that I wondered what they were going to find. I applied for a loan. The loan officer made one remark about Skip's written contract. "Your contractor has clearly spelled it all out for us providing the loan, I don't generally see so such detail which makes my job easier to inspect the stages". I waited a few weeks, job stated. The owner Skip and his crew showed up and again went over the project with me. More pictures were taken of my home during the project than those I have taken in all the decades have I lived here. Two weeks of banging that unnerved me and ruffled my dog were finally over. The final balance was due. To the penny of the written contract I wrote the final check. My house was made gorgeous. I was mentally drained for nothing. That process, while a first for me, was made easy for me by Skip and I did not even realize it until the end. Thank you Skip. So today, years later, I am seeking out Skip's phone number here at work. I found him easily, but I also found these reviews. Most predate my first experience with Skip and Cape Cod Roofing and Siding, and some look more personal than service oriented. I must opine for the record, I chose Skip then as my gut knew and thus I remember now. After reading some of the comments on this review page, I am horrified at what lengths people will go to over what appears to be nothing but revenge. I now feel compelled to author this review. Here it is. I had a home I knew not how to take care of. I interviewed nothing but strangers/contractors in order to choose one to spend what little money I had access to. I was petrified of getting screwed. Out of those I met with, I found the ideas of home improvement by Skip of Cape Cod Roofing & Siding well beyond that envisioned by others. Skip was bluntly straight forward with me while outlining what he would do to my house if it were his. Truth be told, he lost me on some of his ideas. However, I found nobody else's vibe more secure, confident or trustworthy. In the end, he and his company nailed it, no pun intended. I come home every day and just love my home. So Skip, get ready to receive another call from me! PS: I checked his FACEBOOK page Cape Cod Roofing & Siding and there, dated, is my home. Skip was very prompt in coming out to provide a quote. This is when the promptness ended. From the Fall of 2013, our project was not completed until late into the summer of 2014, I will provide exact dates below. We discussed at length what we wanted to have completed on the home, and he drafted up a quote based on that. While it was a jumbled mess that really did not get everything we discussed written in the contract, I figured I would take him for what he told me and the recommendation of the friend. His crew started with replacing the roof, which was probably the highlight of the job. The old roof was removed and the new roof was put on. He claims to have used a magnet to pick up the old nails around the property. I would be lying if we picked up less than 2 kids beach pails pull of them. Glad I did not have any young ones running around and I was up to date on a tetnus shot. And while when first talking, he said, he had been working in New England for 35+ years they work in all kind of weather, he did not start on the siding for six months. Being a property that rents during the summer months we wanted to ensure that any and all work was completed long before we had a renter. His communication was horrible during this time. Anyone interested I can share emails from this contractor. Long story short these are the facts. I signed a contract on 10/7/2013. On 10/16/2013 he stated he was "readying to go, need to pull permit" and asked for $5,000. On 12/11/2013 was the first day that the roof was worked on. And on 7/11/2014 the siding was done, for this small, single family home. From the day the contract was signed to the day that the siding was complete was 277 days. Additional frustration was that Skip removed all the siding and then contacted me about the trim work, asking who was going to do the trim on the home. The home sat for days, without shingles on it, as we tried to figure out where we went wrong. We discussed at length what he was going to do for our trim, yet, because he never put it in the contract he chose to wait until the home was exposed to see what our plans were. After trying to find a contractor to do trim, he then offered several options for additional costs that he could provide for trim work. Why these were never presented initially, goes along with the way he operated the entire time. He showed his true colors when he wrote an email stating that he no longer will take or receive phone calls from me. A great way to deal with someone who has thousands of dollars of your hard earned money isn't it? Now it is April 2015 we still have yet to receive the warranties for the products installed on our home. Lessons learned from this experience. I will never use Cape Cod Roofing and Siding. Get a start and an end date from a contractor. Get everything discussed incorperated into the quote. Ask them who will be performing the work. To our surprise when checking on the progress of the siding one day, we found a lone contractor doing the siding, with a truck that read "Better Homes Home Improvment" when we had contracted with Cape Cod Roofing and Siding and never once were told that a sub contractor would be performing work. With this home we have had many projects completed. I have spoken with many people during and after the experience of dealing with him. Skip was the least professional person I have ever dealt with. While the home looked good in the end the frustration of dealing with him is something I would not wish on my worst enemies. He impacted more than half of our renters, and we lost substantial income by offering refunds to our valued renters. I will gladly explain at length to anyone why NOT to choose Cape Cod Roofing and Siding. Please do not make the same mistake we did. read more

Called for an estimate. He was prompt and professional. He looked and dressed the part of a hands on contractor not a suit salesman. We had him remove our cedar shakes (40 sq) and install top of the line T 5 sawmill cedar impressions. He suggested Blue Henry paper, more money but top notch stuff . He saved our trim style by getting custom tin fabrication work done again (we agreed) and what a difference. He knows his trade! Hung my shutters for 0. And recreated the shirt flare around our home. I've had many construction projects and many contractors. Weather and timing is always a problem money is always off a little. He made sure my house was always water tight and not a scrap of debris was ever left behind. He even offered his dumpster for other jobs I had going on. Kindness goes a long way and both ways. He is straight forward. He left my house covered with Blue Henry paper for about 1 month before he started the siding. Why, ? to see if any issues needed to be addressed. Let the professionals do there job. He was the only contractor out of 4 that explained every step and every product. read more
