CCR collects a lot of money from both homeowners and renters without really adding any value.
In the case of addressing problems, they are only available during business hours and even then simply pass along the information to the homeowner for action. If CCR does send out a professional (plumber, handyman, etc.) to resolve the issue, the homeowner is charged the professional's fee plus a (10% ?) surcharge that goes to CCR.
From the homeowner perspective, they collected a 17% commission just to:
-Post a homeowner-provided description and photos on their website
-Relay reports of any problems (based on their office hours)
-Hand out the house keys for renters who arrive during their office hours
-Arrange a cleaning service -- although they would not provide information on what the cleaners would do or how much time they would spend in the house. The attitude was that the renter pay for it so it is none of your concern what is provided for the fee we charge.
A renter reported that there was water in the washing machine and he did not know how to get it out. After the problem was resolved with no help from them, Denise H. said that we should have posted instructions on the washing machine telling how to remove water. They could not provide a list of situations that might arise and need to be addressed in the future based on their years of experience. So, I guess they expected every homeowner to write and post instructions for every possible problem imaginable throughout the whole house. That is just not possible, but reflects their attitude that everything is someone else's problem.
We now use a website that charges us a yearly fee, not a percentage of each rental,
we handle all inquiries, problems ourselves- having a handyman, plumber that we can call ourself and not get charged extra , and the renters can just contact us personally, it works better for us and the renters, and installed a lockbox for the key
I highly recommend doing that then to waste your money with this company, and as a renter i would recommend finding a site that would let you communicate directly with the owner. read more
