My kids loved the retro motel vibe. Lots to do there including yard games, fire pits, hot tub, pool, and bikes to use. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom was large with boiling hot water (which I love haha!). We checked in and went to our assigned room. We quickly discovered the room to be quite filthy. There was long black hair everywhere. On the countertops, in the bathtub, on the tile floor where the kitchen sick was, and even large clumps under the vanity sink. I immediately went to the front desk and spoke to the GM "Elissa." She was very apologetic and sent a housekeeper down shortly after. The housekeeper visited our room to "re-clean" it, and once she left, there was still hair all over the place. I didn't want to complain to the front desk for a second time, so I did the best I could by washing some of those surfaces myself. Unfortunately, it didnt end there. We went to the the breakfast buffet all three days between 8 and 8:30. It was atrocious. It was very overcrowded and items were not replenished once empty. There was only one working waffle maker that left many people waiting 8-10 people deep in line. Juice machine was "out of order" with no alternative offered other than coffee and tea. Oatmeal was empty. Milk was empty. Cereal container was empty. It was just downright awful. Ive never had this type of experience at any hotel breakfast. There were two restrooms across from the dining area that were BOTH "out of order" the entirety of our stay. So basically the only available restroom was the one in our room. Housekeeping services are supposed to be started on day two of guests stays. Our mounted shower gel was empty. I went to the front desk at 10am asking for a replacement. I waited around all day. Nobody came. I texted the front desk around 3PM asking if we had been forgotten about and was told someone would be down in 5 minutes. Another hour and a half went by, and it was finally delivered to our door at 5PM.... Housekeeper never entered the room. Thats all that was done. Our trashes remained overflowing. Our shampoo and conditioner were empty shorly after. No fresh towels were delivered. It was just bad. The worst part, which forced us to leave early was the discomfort in the beds. I can't even begin to explain how uncomfortable the beds in our room were. The pull out sleeper was like sleeping on straight mattress springs. It left my daughter with severe neck and shoulder pain. The king size bed was just as bad. My husband and I couldn't sleep at all because the bed was so uncomfortable. We tossed and turned all night long and woke up with neck, back, and hip pain. On day two of our stay, I also noticed tiny black ants on the wall next to our bed, and two of them IN our bed. We couldn't take it anymore, so we checked out of the hotel after just 3 short, painfully agonizing days. We spoke to the GM again and explained why we had to leave. She was apologetic but did not offer to compensate any part of our stay. It was by far the most disappointing vacations ever. We had looked forward to this vacation for months to be seriously disappointed. Would not recommend this hotel. Look elsewhere.

At check-in we were told both resorts had restaurants and beach bars, which made it sound like there would be plenty of options. In reality, it was difficult to know what would be open or serving food at any given time. We couldn't find consistent hours on the website or in our check-in materials, and even employees often seemed unsure. The Riviera café was essentially grab-and-go. We used it for breakfast, but typically only one or two menu items were actually available and they were premade and reheated. The coffee options were good, though. We tried going there for lunch after discovering Jonah's was closed and found premade salads and leftover breakfast sandwiches. The employees actually directed us to Jonah's and seemed surprised when we told them it was closed. The beach bar was the most consistent food option, but choices were limited and mostly fried/heavy. At Jonah's, we waited more than an hour for four salads one evening and about 45 minutes for two salads and a pizza another. Places were frequently out of menu items or ingredients, and the beach bar was even completely out of silverware at one point. Unfortunately, the property also felt very worn. Our bathtub was rusty and had peeling paint, the bathroom door barely closed, our TV had a black line running through the screen, and our balcony railing felt loose enough to make us uncomfortable. Carpeting throughout the property looked worn and dirty. An ice machine was broken for our entire stay, the beach foot sprayer was broken, and many interior doors were warped from humidity. The heated pools were still quite cold, while the hot tub was almost unbearably hot. Housekeeping was another issue. Our room wasn't serviced until day three, after I contacted the front desk and asked for service. When they agreed to provide full service, we left the room so they could work. When we returned, the beds had simply been made with the existing sheets rather than having the sheets changed. Staff presence was inconsistent as well. People generally weren't particularly friendly or welcoming and often seemed unaware of what was happening elsewhere at the resort. Beach attendant coverage was unpredictable enough that at one point I grabbed the sand drill myself and installed our umbrella. There were positives. Our room had lots of convenient places to charge devices, which was surprisingly nice. More importantly, the private beach is gorgeous. It's easily accessible and the ocean views are fantastic. We paid for an ocean-view room, and I'm very glad we did because sitting outside and enjoying that view genuinely made the stay better. The location gives this property tremendous potential. Unfortunately, the maintenance issues, inconsistent housekeeping, confusing food availability, and lack of attentive service made it feel like the resort simply isn't being operated at the level its location deserves.

The tub had exposed holes where the safety pole was missing, which is completely unacceptable. The ceiling fan looked like it was ready to fall off the ceiling. The common areas were disgusting. Dirty stairwells, dirty hallways, steep stairs going up to the second floor rooms, and an overall grimy, worn out feeling everywhere. For the money they are gouging out of customers, this property should be spotless and updated. Instead, it feels tired, neglected, and badly managed. The staff was no better. At a 4:30 PM check in, they told me my room was not ready. Then a manager had to come over and correct the mistake. So not only is the place overpriced and rundown, but the staff does not even seem to know what is going on. The location is the only decent thing about Ocean Mist, and even that does not come close to saving it. The beach is small and unimpressive, and the outdoor pool is basically the size of a kiddie pool. Calling this a resort is a stretch. Calling it luxury is flat out insulting. For what they charged for a loft room, I could have rented an entire house and had a far better experience. Ocean Mist is an overpriced joke.
