I inherited it from my parents, it had been in our family but in horrible condition. The clock sat in their attic and my basement for 40+ years. Back years ago (when I was a child), I remember my dad having a clock maker look at it and telling my dad the clock would never work properly due to age, condition and it being wood works. Well, I wish my dad lived long enough to see John prove him wrong. John worked with me to identify someone to repair the cabinet and correct the reverse painting on the glass, along with some stenciling. John performed the mechanical work. I have to say, the final product knocked me off my feet. The clock looks and runs perfectly!...It truly looks like something that belongs in a museum. I've also had John work on a clock that I bought on eBay (big mistake on my part, buying on eBay) and I bought a restored school house clock from him. If you need a clock restored/repaired or if you're looking for a quality clock for your home, go see him - you will not be disappointed! Oh, and this 150+ yrs old clock with wood parts keeps PERFECT time!..Thxs to John.

Their store is clean and bright with a nice selection of wall clocks and watches, I particularly noticed a large assortment of different brands of nice tide clocks, and prices did not seem astronomical.

In May, we agreed on a set price for a new band with a simple setting--Carl even popped the stones I had into an example setting he had. Weeks later, after several weeks of delay, I told him I was coming in to see the progress and to get some of my original materials back. Instead of starting with fresh materials, Carl had taken the old, scratched band I brought in with the original stones and attached a tacky, ornate setting to it. When I asked that we do what we originally planned and what I was paying for, he wanted to charge me extra for his spent time. Others have posted about delays and I also experienced delays and excuses. He gave a three-week timeline for the job, originally. When the job was not even started at three weeks, he said he had been at the hospital, then after the second deadline, a death in the family had him out of town (this was a lie--he actually was in town and at the shop). For each delay, I had to reach out to him to see what was happening--you'd think that he or his staff would have called to give status updates for a project running so far over, but there was radio silence unless I checked in. Eventually, I took my materials back, went down the road to a competitor, and they gave me a fresh band, a beautiful simple setting custom-created to my stones, and were proactively checking in with me throughout the process. The job took them five days and the final price was $25 less than Cranberry Jewelers.
